  • Total Relaxation!

"I spent a week in this beautiful home with my husband and two boys (ages 15 and 20). This house is in a perfect location in Door county, it was very central to all the adorable small towns close by but away from the crowds. The house feels very secluded. There are neighbors on either side but there are a lot of trees so you have to look hard for the houses. We loved the long driveway leading to the house. Made the house feel even more secluded. The house was very clean and roomy. My one and only complaint (and it's minimal) is that I wish they provided bath towels. (They do provide bedding) We traveled from Texas and didn't have room in our luggage for towels, so we had to purchase towels and leave them. Not a huge deal, but towels would have been an added bonus for us. We took advantage of the fire pit every night. The star gazing was amazing. I am a photographer and got awesome pictures of the night sky and many shooting stars. We also spent many hours just enjoying the porch and my boys hung hammocks in the trees. We did get in the water a few times but I advise to wear shoes as the beach is rocky. We loved the rustic of the beach. It was tree lined and rocky which made us feel the seclusion (we really like seclusion if you haven't figured that out) and from the beach you can't see many houses. The weather was warmer than normal when we were there. We were a little concerned since the house doesn't have air conditioning but I can assure you, the house stayed very comfortable, plus there were ample fans if needed. The house also supplied basic spices and condiments. We ate out most meals at all the fabulous restaurants close by. We did a kayak tour one day. We were going to do the tour close to the house but it was too windy so they took us to the other side of the peninsula. It was still beautiful and we had a great time. We went to Cave Point county park a few times to jump off the cliff. This is super close to the house and easy to get to. I recommend going during the week to avoid huge crowds. We rented a speed boat from Sister Bay one day. We skied and tubed and just explored the shoreline. Definitely a highlight of the trip. We explored the small towns on the peninsula and I really enjoyed just driving the countryside and admire and photograph all the beautiful red barns. There was so much more to do while we were there but we opted for more relaxation at the house than being out and about."

  • Perfect for Young Family

"Our family had a great time at the beach house this summer. It's tough vacationing with young children but you can't go wrong with a beach out your back door. Home was cozy, children loved the loft. We plan to come back next year."

  • Best place on Sturgeon Bay to enjoy !!!!!!!

"I rented the boathouse for Father's Day weekend, a 5 day, 4 night stay and wished I had rented it for a longer period of time. The boathouse has awesome views, is outstanding in decor, and all the amenities you could ask for. I was renting a nearby cottage for years and was glad I found this house to rent instead. Debra is a pleasure to work with and has the place decorated to make you feel like you're at home. It is also close to anything you want to do or see. I will be back again to enjoy this place, Sturgeon Bay and Door County. Thanks Debra for sharing your gem of a home !!!!!!!!!"

  • Thanksgiving Break

"Jacksonport is a perfect destination in Door County. Sunrise Shores is wonderful because it's on Lake Michigan. Winter is ideal not only because of the rate reduction but also for the reduction in crowds. Sunrise Shores is very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. It is also within easy reach of any point on the peninsula. If I had to change one thing it would be to eliminate the surcharge for bedding linens. It's no different from a hotel from that perspective. I don't get the extra cost especially due to the fact that it's not cheap and must draw a more moderate income base as clients."
