  • Exactly what we were looking for

"Exactly what we wanted - water, peace and quiet, yet close enough to town to grab some food and some neat shopping. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us! Morning coffee looking at the mist on the lake took all of our breath away. Kitchen had everything we needed, except a plain rubber spatula, but we certainly made do! We'll be back with the family!"

  • Beautiful and well equipped!

"We loved our stay, we had 7 adults and 4 children, and we were all very comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped and even though our stay was short we were able to cook a couple large meals easily. We will definitely consider staying here again! Very clean! Thank you!"

  • Awesome Property and Vacation Opportunity @ Pioneer Lake Cottage

"Not sure where to begin! First, I would be remiss if I failed to note how easy and enjoyable it was to make the arrangements with Sue. She is incredibly responsive (quick turnaround with email), helpful, and went above and beyond to help ensure our family would have a memorable vacation. Thank you, Sue! That all being said, highlights include... - A beautiful property / location and great accommodations - - The two bedroom cottage offered the six of us plenty of room. We enjoyed a couple of camp fires, made use of the Weber grill a couple of times, and headed up and down the 20 steps to the dock multiple times every day so our kids could tube the lake and fish. Plenty of panfish to catch right off the dock! Also, it's an easy 15 minute drive to and from Eagle River. - Sitting on the dock and watching the kids jump in the water / onto one of our big blow up rafts for tubing with a beverage in hand - Torch Lake - - 10 minute drive to crystal clear, shallow water, a great beach, and plenty of shade... be sure to check it out! - Bond Falls State Park - - make sure you jump in your vehicle and drive 40 minutes to the U.P. Amazing waterfall and trail... well worth it! - Maple View Resort on Pioneer Lake - - probably the best cod fish fry we have ever had! Get there early!!!! 5 minutes from the cottage. - Going for a run - ok, jog - on the driveway (good chance you will run into deer or other wildlife) and the connecting road; my wife and daughter really enjoyed their morning walks, too. If you have bikes consider bringing them - Eagles gracefully soaring above Overall, I highly recommend the opportunities this cottage/property affords to unwind and reconnect as a family!"

  • Deerskin New Years Adventure

"We gathered at the Khota House for a New Year's celebration for two families that included a bunch of hockey players! The initial family that arrived was greeted with easy access the home per the instructions from the owner and found everything to be as advertised! The home sits below the street level and requires a walk down steps from the parking area that is not easy to view from the photos but there is a lower level with a garage and a driveway that we had access to that made loading and unloading pretty easy. The walk to and from the lake is up and down a small hill but the yard is very secluded and quite pretty in the snow. We do not have sledders any longer but young children would enjoy the small hill. We discovered the fire pit and we were able to remove the snow from that and enjoyed some nice winter fires during our stay (the home did not have a supply of firewood but our group has spent some time in the Eagle River area and had a connection who dropped off wood for us on the driveway). Our group is a hockey loving bunch. We first went on the lake and were disappointed that the ice was not in very good shape due to the weather as it froze but with resilient children they were not going to be denied. After exploring the area and moving about 50 yards down the lake the kids discovered ice that was PERFECT for a winters weekend of pond hockey! We came equipped with our own generator and lights so we could enjoy into the evening (there was no power near the water that we found). A great place to ring in the New Year outside! All in all the cabin was wonderful for our group at a very reasonable cost. We met some neighbors that were very nice and left the rink in their care on our departure. I would say thumbs up on the Khota House for winter fun. It certainly appeared that the summer would be wonderful there as well."
