  • Northwoods Vacation 7-23 to 7-29-16

"First let me say we had a good time and the cottage was as cute and clean as shown in the photos. I would return again, because it is so private. We got locked out of the cabin twice and luckily the people in the workshop behind our cabin were there to help. The cabin was very small but just right for the two of us since we used the second bedroom for our luggage. No way would even a couple with two kids or six adults could fit in there without tripping over everyone's stuff. No closets, no real dresser drawers and no room for them either. No air conditioning and it was 90 and humid. The washer/dryer is a great amenity, even though it was a tight squeeze at the foot of the bed. The cottage location was good and convenient to everything we wanted to do. St Germain Flea Market on Mondays, Three Lakes Winery, Kayaking out of Eagle River, cooking on the grill, Eagle River T Shirt/Souvenir shops only 20 miles away for the rainy day. Being on the lake with our own boat and boat dock was great. We had privacy because no one was in the cottage that sits right in front of the one we rented. We didn't know from the photos it was so close. If others had been there, our vacation might have been much less peaceful and I wouldn't have liked it very much since we came to get away from people. The lake is very shallow (10-15 ft in most places) weedy and is pretty much fished-out according to locals. We only caught tiny little bluegills and perch which we threw back. It was disappointing that we had such bad luck, but the people we talked to said all the lakes around there are pretty much the same story. So we had lots of other things to do and didn't let that dampen our vacation. Just a caution to others who might be expecting to catch something other than weeds. Lac Vieux Desert was once a top musky lake, jumbo perch and big panfish 25 years ago. Resorts and supper clubs are going out of business and even many bait shops are closed. We did visit Bond Falls and highly recommend the journey to the top. Easy to moderate climb but worth the view even from the bottom. The kitchen is well furnished, and the cabin nicely decorated and kept up. There is a breakfast in the park on Tuesdays which is sponsored by the Sunrise Resort. They have a very good set up there, and a good breakfast at reasonable prices."

  • Ski Haven

"I and three friends stayed at this cabin the weekend of February 10, 2017. The purpose of our trip was for our annual "Ski Camp" in which we both Nordic ski and snow shoe. The location was great as we were within 20 to 30 minutes of the trails and we were also able to ski on the lake. The cabin was well appointed with modern decor. Each of us had our own bedroom, with a small room adjacent to the kitchen serving as the fourth. The basement included two bedrooms with a full bath and a half bath and was finished very tastefully. The main living area hosts a wall of windows facing the lake and supported a flat screen television with a blue ray player. The kitchen supported my culinary skills as all meals were prepared in house. The wood burning stove adds a nice ambiance especially after being outdoors for a number of hours. Communication with Tom the owner was prompt, and he phoned us while we were there and after the weekend to assure all was well. Some of the adjacent cottages are close, but essentially unoccupied during our stay. Overall a very lovely place to rent."

  • Awesome Property and Vacation Opportunity @ Pioneer Lake Cottage

"Not sure where to begin! First, I would be remiss if I failed to note how easy and enjoyable it was to make the arrangements with Sue. She is incredibly responsive (quick turnaround with email), helpful, and went above and beyond to help ensure our family would have a memorable vacation. Thank you, Sue! That all being said, highlights include... - A beautiful property / location and great accommodations - - The two bedroom cottage offered the six of us plenty of room. We enjoyed a couple of camp fires, made use of the Weber grill a couple of times, and headed up and down the 20 steps to the dock multiple times every day so our kids could tube the lake and fish. Plenty of panfish to catch right off the dock! Also, it's an easy 15 minute drive to and from Eagle River. - Sitting on the dock and watching the kids jump in the water / onto one of our big blow up rafts for tubing with a beverage in hand - Torch Lake - - 10 minute drive to crystal clear, shallow water, a great beach, and plenty of shade... be sure to check it out! - Bond Falls State Park - - make sure you jump in your vehicle and drive 40 minutes to the U.P. Amazing waterfall and trail... well worth it! - Maple View Resort on Pioneer Lake - - probably the best cod fish fry we have ever had! Get there early!!!! 5 minutes from the cottage. - Going for a run - ok, jog - on the driveway (good chance you will run into deer or other wildlife) and the connecting road; my wife and daughter really enjoyed their morning walks, too. If you have bikes consider bringing them - Eagles gracefully soaring above Overall, I highly recommend the opportunities this cottage/property affords to unwind and reconnect as a family!"

  • Kathy and Tom

"We spent a week in early August at this lovely place! Outstanding view of the lake from the large cabin yard and deck. Four adults fit very comfortably with the 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. It was nice to have a boat landing on the property with the use of two piers for docking. The large sandy area between the docks would be an ideal spot for little ones to play in. We enjoyed floating on floats in this area as well. Especially enjoyed watching the eagle family and their young and the family of loons on various parts of the lake. We found that both the upper and lower lakes were relatively quiet. Just a beautiful area! All in all it was a great trip. We would highly recommend it."
