  • Mawmaw

"The best! We took our family, sons and their families, to this most beautiful, comfortable, well equip house on a frozen lake., we stayed 5 days, but all of us wish we had another week. We snowmobiles, played in the snow, and went on a sleigh ride in Eagle River. Our granddaughter who is engaged to a solider who is deployed, wrote a love note on the frozen lake to her solider. I would recommend this to any age group. We had a range age from 71 to 2. Love it! Hope we can do it again."

  • Great family vacation!

"The house is beautiful and the kitchen is awesome, yes I'm an odd one where I do cook on vacation 😊. Husband and kids did lots of fishing, some biking and I relaxed taking in the beautiful views. Only complaint I have and I'm the only one because kids don't care, but I wished it had air conditioning. Overall it was a great vacation, would definitely recommend this place😊"

  • Nature Get Away

"This was our second stay and we loved it here. The staff is super friendly and helpful and you have everything you need here on site to get out on the lake (or on the ice). Close to town but really gives you a sense of being out in the woods. Great lake views, hiking nearby and fireplace for the evening enjoyment. We saw playful otters on the lake, watched an Eagle snatch a fish from the water not more than 30 feet away from our canoe. Trigs grocery in town has amazing food (if you choose to dine in) and a huge wine selection. The butcher shop right off of 45 gave us an amazing steak for the grill. It was also helpful to have a Blu-ray DVD player for our nights in (something you seem to rarely find even at more fancy resorts). We'd love to return"

  • Wonderful, Peaceful Getaway!

"We were looking to make a last minute getaway from Chicago for Labor Day weekend before school started and came across this beautiful setting that actually came with a guest house! Living in a city condo without a yard, our kids have always fantasized about having their own treehouse, so this was such a wonderful experience for them. You can tell there is a lot of history here. The windows are opened by a hand crank, but the screens are well-maintained and do a good job keeping the bugs out. All the bedrooms have a view of the lake, and the beds are super comfy. There's no WiFi, and cellphone reception is shoddy (a bonus in my opinion, but my husband went to the nearby library for WiFi), so we brought our walkie talkies and were set! We fished, canoed, and biked during the day (Carol has a ton of pamphlets on local activities), and in the evenings, we listened to vinyl records and did puzzles by the woodburning fireplace. Then the kids would retire to their guesthouse with their walkie talkies, and they'd be out on the dock the next morning fishing again. Very friendly fish, perfect for first-time fishermen with pocket fishing rods. :) A great way to get the kids unplugged for a few days! Sometimes I think it is helpful to know what "extras" people brought with them in their reviews, so I will just mention that we brought our own bikes (though there were some in the garage), fishing rods (there's a nearby bait shop where you can get any supplies), walkie talkies, shampoo and a slow cooker. Other than that, everything was there. Thank you, Carol, for sharing your lovely property with us!"
