  • Our week at the lake

"Our group of 3 adults and 5 children had a wonderful time at this beautiful lake house. The area is quiet and gorgeous. Cooking for this brood was a dream in this amazing kitchen. We had more than enough room and the kids had a blast just catching fish from the dock. We enjoyed the lake on our pontoon. It was so much fun to toodle around and stop to swim, fish or go to the tiki bar @ Tagalongs. The kids enjoyed the ping pong table and got a kick out of having their own space. I would highly recommend this home for your vacation."

  • Perfect place to take our grandchildren.

"The house had everything we needed for the weeks stay. The sleeping arrangements were great and the kids loved the area between the two bedrooms in the loft when they were told they needed to come in out of the sun for awhile. The kitchen had everything we needed and the extra refrigerator in the garage was a blessing since three families coming together from different parts of the country came prepared with way too much food. The beach and dock were great for all ages (5 to 66). We swan, fished, walked, biked, pontooned and relaxed. One son-in-law golfed 4 different golf courses. He was the only one who really left the property. The wildlife was amazing. An eagle spent one whole morning in a tree on the property. We also saw deer, great blue herons, leopard frogs, Ospreys, and more. Kayaking was wonderful as was the use of the pontoon. There was no real need to leave the property during the week. Coffee on the deck in the morning, grilling some really wonderful brats from Louie's Meats in Cumberland, s'mores down by the fire pit. It was just perfect, a vacation no one in our family will forget. Friday morning as we prepared to leave I heard my 12 year old granddaughter say, while hugging the post in the kitchen "I love you cabin!""

  • great return stay at Schoolhouse Lake

"We rented the Schoolhouse Lake house for a second time in two years. It's so peaceful, clean, and relaxing. We enjoy watching the herons, eagles, turtles, fish, deer, and other wildlife. We appreciate having so many different items to use on the water. We don't rent the pontoon but use everything else. Fires on the deck were great. The house was very clean--even inside the cupboards--and the queen bed is comfortable. It's great to have so many games, books, magazines, and videos to use at the house. If you don't want them, they are tucked away. Nancy is very helpful and easy to work with. The water level in the lake was higher than the last time we were there, almost to the bottom of the pier. The heron was fishing from the pier. We got some good photos. One thing that the house photos do not show is that the main level floor is pebbles in cement. Nancy has carpets strategically placed, so you don't have to have something on your feet. It's just nice to be aware of it for tender feet. The environment is as pictured. We'll definitely rent from Nancy again. The house is away from town but offers such a great environment that if you are looking for a serene place to relax and renew, this is it. It's easy to drive ten minutes to Hayward or five minutes to Stone Lake. We weren't able to eat at Angler's Haven, but the food looked and smelled great. We had the Friday night fish fry at Trailways Inn, which was very good. We can't recommend Angler's Bar in Hayward. The food was mediocre at best, and we've tried it a couple of times over the years. The folks at the Hayward Visitors Center are extremely helpful every time we are in the area. The new Birkie museum is interesting. We like the area because it is close enough to do day trips to Ashland, Bayfield, Superior, and the north shore area. The numerous state parks are fun to explore as well. You can't beat the beauty of Wisconsin."

  • Most Relaxing Vacation Ever!

"This was our second stay at Wayne and Jean's Pine Cone Retreat and we had a fabulous week! From sitting on the front deck watching and listening to the loons, to fishing off our boat and swimming off the dock...we couldn't have asked for a better time. The weather was absolutely perfect the week we were there with temps in the upper 70's to low 80's. It was beautiful! The house is fully furnished with everything you could possibly want. There is plenty of room to spread out and do a variety of things. We spent a lot of our time on the deck just chilling as it's so relaxing. We watched t.v. as a family in the large area in the basement along with played some games on the table down there as well. There are a variety of games kept in the downstairs cupboards and our boys enjoyed those. The highlight of our trip this year was being able to get to all 5 of the lakes with our pontoon! We did that on a couple of the days and fished in a few different lakes, but we found our best fishing to be right in Spider 1 were the cabin is located. We caught bluegills, crappies, bass and bullheads during our stay there. We saw a few Northern Pike, but we weren't able to land those. Maybe next year! We enjoyed our stay so much that we've already booked a week long stay for next July! We love it there!"
