  • Garidods Vacation

"Coming from an urban area, we are constantly concerned with our kids being at risk from traffic and strangers. The days of kids being kicked out by mothers till the street lights come on, are long gone. Our kids have a much tighter circle of exploration and time to just be out in nature. When we saw this vacation spot we decided to give our kids the space to explore and be outdoors. We loved it! For 7 days our kids played on the beach, explored paths, collected rocks, played games like Red Rover and ran around with sparklers. We even threw them out of the house when they said they were bored and within an hour their imaginations had taken over and eight kids from age of 11-3 created a world of espionage in the most elaborate game of tag we had ever seen. The parents enjoyed reliving a bit of their childhoods through their kids. The barn easily accommodated us, and we even had plenty of room to spare. The main living area was spacious and beautiful. The kitchen was large and is fully equiped with cooking and dining utensils. It just invited us all to cook together. Bedrooms and bathrooms are designed beautifully and comfortable. The game room downstairs had us connecting with the kids by playing the games we had before video games. We did take advantage of their Apple TV and would settle the kids down each night with one of their children's movies. The outside space of the barn is just as beautiful with all the little touches by the owners plus that of previous visitors. Various bones, rocks and driftwood have been collected by guests and can be found displayed in various spots. The kids loved the bones the most! They had a great fire pit, basketball hoop, tire swing, tight rope and of course the hot tub. We had no issues with ticks or poison ivy which was the only concern we had. The caretaker was a great friendly guy who clued us in on some of the best place to explore. It was great to just listen to how the property had all come together. We highly recommend this beautiful vacation spot! Already trying to arrange a week at one of their other properties."

  • Fantastic Spot!

"Our 16 hour drive from Colorado with our 2 boys (4.5 & 1) and dog was well worth it! The house was very clean and plenty of space for our family. The listing and photos were very accurate. We had the pleasure of meeting Darrin and his lovely wife while we were there, who were very hospitable and respectful. The lake was clear with a sandy bottom, which provided many hours of fun for the kids. This lake is very small, which leads to minimal boat traffic and primarily local owners only. It's not a water skiing lake, but that was perfectly ok with our family--having such young kiddos. My 4.5 year old caught over 30 small sunfish/bluegill/crappie off the dock, with night crawlers. I didn't catch anything substantial--but fishing wasn't our focus. We made a couple outings to Hayward, which is about a 45 minute drive. One of our trips included a visit to the Lumberjack show--which the boys loved. We had pizza at Coops, which was my favorite place to go when I was a kid. We rented a stand-up paddleboard from Hayward Outfitters and this activity proved to be perfect for the calm lake. We swam off the pontoon boat every day. Unfortunately, one of our boys came down with an upper respiratory virus and we had to make a trip to the Hayward ER. I know this has nothing to do with a review of the property--however, it I felt it was important to note that we were very happy with the care we received. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and I don't have anything to complain about. Thanks to Darrin and his family for sharing their beautiful home."

  • Northwoods Paradise from dawn through dark!

"There are no words to describe this Northwoods Paradise. Wake up morning after morning to towering pines and birch just outside your picture windows. The "river of presidents" glides along only yards away: the infamous Bois Brule River. Get to know her secrets ad hidden corners. She never disappoints. Slip into a canoe and transport yourself upstream to diving eagles, clutches of mergansers and stealthy river otters. Stay up into the wee hours to fish the evening hatch and even later to gaze at our corner of the Milky Way galaxy. This is a photographers paradise. This is a fly fishing paradise. This is an astronomers paradise. This is is place you'll call home in days and come back to for years to come. Paul (aka WiFly)"

  • Great cabin in a quaint Wi village

"We stayed with our family of four for a week in July 2016 and loved all the spaciousness and comfort. New kitchen and updated two bathrooms. Wonderful view of the pristine lakeshore from the cabin living room, upper bedrooms and front deck. Lovely breeze flows through the cabin with the new windows strategically placed up and down. Sanding beach and new dock big enough for a couple of boats. We will be back next summer."
