This is the perfect up north cabin!
"This cabin was everything as described. It was very clean and secluded. The view from the cabin deck and breezeway was perfect. Fishing was good. We had a fire almost every night we were here. The firewood on site was a huge plus! Thank you Roger and Heidi for an awesome week at your cabin, we look forward to coming back!"

"I came here for one week to work uninterrupted on a project, while being surrounded by beautiful nature. I finished 70 small drawings in one week, and every single day I saw bald eagles circling over the lake. I had a dinner party for some artist friends over the weekend who where blown away by the beauty of the setting. It was really easy to host a dinner party in their large kitchen area with an Island, much nicer than my tiny kitchen at home in the city. I plan to come back every year. The beauty of the lake and the eagles made it as relaxing as a vacation, even though I was working most of the time. I would recommend this cabin HIGHLY!!!!!!for artists or writers, or anyone looking for a peaceful place in the beauty of nature. I love it there."

"My husband & I just returned from a week at this cottage, where we celebrated 14 yrs of marriage. We got lucky w/the weather, having sunshine & upper 70's-low 80's on 4 of the days. Thank you Mother Nature!
The cottage itself was perfect for the 2 of us having 2 bedrooms & 1 bath. There is carpeting in the bedrooms only. Heat is supplied by gas fireplace in the living room (+kitchen & dining room - all 1 room) and electric heating elements on the walls in the bedrooms & bathroom. I found the cottage to be cold as it does not get much direct sunlight so I utilized the heat & it worked well.
The cottage has cable tv (+dvd/blue ray player) & wifi which allowed for us to stay current w/family going ons & work.
The kitchen is equipped w/most essentials & the fridge is full sized. We cooked over half our meals at the cottage & if I'd give any suggestions (& it's minor) it would be to have some smaller plates & to replace the plastic plates/bowls.
The mud room is spacious & is an excellent place to store coats, coolers & for doing laundry of course.
The pier is very close to the house & it has 4 bouys so you can pull your boat right up w/little to no set up depending on your boat size. You can walk into the water & wade around but bring your aqua socks as there are snails blanketing the bottom. The water was cool in May but it was 80 degrees so I went in up to my thighs & did some casting. Caught a lovely crappie that day. If fishing is your thing then I'd recommend Nelson Lake. Watch for tree stumps & limbs - your navigation system should have them detailed. Other than that it's a beautiful lake full of crappie, blue gill, walleye & my fav large mouth bass. I caught plenty and released them all so you can take a shot at catching them when you get here!
Thank you Joy for sharing your cottage w/us and for getting that extension cord so we could charge our boat motors. Really appreciated that. We'll be back!"

"We rented the Schoolhouse Lake house for a second time in two years. It's so peaceful, clean, and relaxing. We enjoy watching the herons, eagles, turtles, fish, deer, and other wildlife. We appreciate having so many different items to use on the water. We don't rent the pontoon but use everything else. Fires on the deck were great. The house was very clean--even inside the cupboards--and the queen bed is comfortable. It's great to have so many games, books, magazines, and videos to use at the house. If you don't want them, they are tucked away. Nancy is very helpful and easy to work with. The water level in the lake was higher than the last time we were there, almost to the bottom of the pier. The heron was fishing from the pier. We got some good photos. One thing that the house photos do not show is that the main level floor is pebbles in cement. Nancy has carpets strategically placed, so you don't have to have something on your feet. It's just nice to be aware of it for tender feet. The environment is as pictured. We'll definitely rent from Nancy again.
The house is away from town but offers such a great environment that if you are looking for a serene place to relax and renew, this is it. It's easy to drive ten minutes to Hayward or five minutes to Stone Lake. We weren't able to eat at Angler's Haven, but the food looked and smelled great. We had the Friday night fish fry at Trailways Inn, which was very good. We can't recommend Angler's Bar in Hayward. The food was mediocre at best, and we've tried it a couple of times over the years. The folks at the Hayward Visitors Center are extremely helpful every time we are in the area. The new Birkie museum is interesting. We like the area because it is close enough to do day trips to Ashland, Bayfield, Superior, and the north shore area. The numerous state parks are fun to explore as well. You can't beat the beauty of Wisconsin."
