  • Getaway : return trip

"Went last year in august- came home and Immediately booked 2 weeks this august. We just returned. Love the central location to Duluth- Apostle island seashore, Ashland and with a little streach: Bayfield. The cabin is quite remote, but their are several other cabins on the other side of the river in sight, and canoeists passing by. Wifi is very good. We watched the olympics nightly- reception was great. Last year we never really turned on the TV. Water is pristeen clean 63 to 65 degrees. Canoeing is great. The best canoe needs some TLC soon. We mentioned it to the caretaker and would bet that it will be attended to timely. The semi- dated cabin is really clean, and the caretaker maintains it well. Very peacefull setting. Kitchen and whole property is very well equipped. We were there for the last day of the meteor shower- Cloudy night- otherwise we would have had a nice show. If we don't spend our next summer vacation canoe camping the Namekagan or Fambeau, we will probably return again. Two weeks was so much nicer than one."

  • Great cabin in a quaint Wi village

"We stayed with our family of four for a week in July 2016 and loved all the spaciousness and comfort. New kitchen and updated two bathrooms. Wonderful view of the pristine lakeshore from the cabin living room, upper bedrooms and front deck. Lovely breeze flows through the cabin with the new windows strategically placed up and down. Sanding beach and new dock big enough for a couple of boats. We will be back next summer."

  • Great Cabin For Summer Vacation

"Cabin is very nice inside. Plenty of space in the basement for kids to sleep and play. Main floor has a comfortable living room and kitchen had everything we needed. Nice views from the deck towards the lake. The beach was a big hit with the kids because the water was pretty warm due to the lake not being a big lake and we rented in August, so it was nice to have water temps peaking as well. The fire pit had plenty of available firewood. There was foosball/air hockey table in the basement that the kids enjoyed playing with. We had fun in the water in the canoe and paddle boat. What we liked: - Great swimming beach and fishing dock - Nice, clean cabin and cabin layout - Quiet, peaceful neighborhood What we didn't like: - Cabin is on a pretty steep slope and no large flat-ground area for yard games (croquet, badminton, bocce) - No larger local stores for groceries. We had to drive about 40 minutes into Hayward to get to a larger grocery store Overall, we would recommend this property and had a great stay, but it wasn't perfect for us - thus, why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5."

  • Peaceful lake cabin in the woods.

"Overall the cabin was inviting with plenty of sleeping space for our group. Living room area is not huge so we pulled in come chairs from the deck some nights while watching the Olympics. Some areas of the cabin in the basement level weren't totally finished which wasn't a huge issue, but it would improve the overall impression of the place. We did have an issue with mice during our visit and caught two with traps we bought in town. The huge deck with a large picnic table and grill was great. The only issue with the deck was the lower railing was quite a bit higher than the deck floor so our smaller dog could get through. This could be an issue with children too. The location was peaceful and the campfire area was great at night. The sky was dark and the stars were bright. It was a short walk to the dock and it was great to have use of the pontoon boat since several in our group wanted to fish. The lake was a bit weedy but they caught enough pan fish for a meal. Not many big game fish were caught, but several nice size bass were caught. The teenage boys in our group enjoyed the diving platform despite the weeds. The location was great and we went to Bayfield and took the ferry to Madeline Island and also hiked in the Amnicon Falls State Park which is a beautiful spot. We highly recommend the Delta Diner which is a short five minute trip. Be prepared for a long wait on the weekend as seating is very limited. Iron River while small, has just about everything one would need with a well stocked grocery store, laundromat and hardware store. Overall, we all had a great time and enjoyed the location. The price was reasonable for all that was included and Steve, the owner, was very responsive and pleasant to deal with when we called with questions. The detailed directions he emailed in advance were wonderful and made the place easy to find."
