  • A true wilderness haven!

"Staying at A Wilderness Haven was so amazing. My wife and I were staying there the second week in September and stayed in the Loon’s Nest, which was a great place for a couple to hang their hat at the end of the day. The cabin was very clean and had everything you would need, with a great porch/patio to walk out on to look at Spring Lake and even some of the wildlife walking in late at night, along with lighting that trims the cabins at night. All the cabins have a great view of Spring Lake and also of the beautiful cabin grounds with an awesome large fire pit for many to sit around and roasting hot dogs or making s’mores. The ride into town is very quick with great access to a Market Place grocery store and a Super WalMart along with many great restaurants such as the Angler’s Bar and Grill, which has great fish and chips, but do understand that the restaurants do close earlier in the off season. We paid for a whole week and full access to a pontoon boat for fishing. As Spring Lake is not very big, it was a blast being able to walk around on a pontoon boat and fish more freely, but there are canoes, row-boats and kayaks that are always available for free with your stay. Fishing was great, especially on our last day. One previous group caught many crappies and we caught many sun fish. Many fish of all kinds can be caught on Spring Lake. We are very excited to come back and see John and Angie again at A Wilderness Haven again."

  • A lovely holiday weekend!

"We had a lovely holiday weekend at Sand Lake. The cabin was clean and comfortable for our family of 8. The master bedroom/ loft was very large and bright and the lower level was a nice bonus. The family especially enjoyed the ping pong table. There was a nice deck with an amazing sunset view of the lake. The kitchen was fully equipped, but there could have been more storage space for our food. Also, could have used a pancake griddle of some sort ( it's possible there was one but we did not find it). All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the cabin."

  • Perfect Cabin Getaway

"Our family had a great time on our stay here! The cabin has all the accommodations and is very comfortable, you feel right at home! We relaxed, ice fished and snowmobiled. We would love to come back again and enjoy what the cabin and lake have to offer in the summer. Pat was very helpful with the booking process, all the cabin info and he responded very quickly to any questions. It was exactly what we were looking for! We would definately stay here again!"

  • Perfect! Clean, super comfortable, beautiful location

"After 30 years of hit and miss lake cabin experiences - this one was finally JUST PERFECT! The well appointed, wonderfully private, and nicely updated log home includes it's own sweet little inlet and a great little beach for embarking in kayaks to explore a secluded and quiet chain of deep, small lakes. Very comfortable and clean beds and furniture, plenty of table lamps for the readers in the bunch. Well stocked kitchen - not one unpleasant surprise. Not ONE! We'll be back! ...P.S. Only 10 minutes from Birchwood - highly recommend the Paul's Pizza Den there - the smoked baby back ribs are amazing, and the Bear Bait dessert is scrumptious!"
