  • Perfect family vacation

"We had an amazing getaway to Hayward at the Rest A While cabin. We walked in and it was spotless. The living room, kitchen and dining room had all the amenities we needed. The grill out back was great for cooking steaks. There was plenty of outdoor seating and a fire pit for making s'mores. We took our toddler out on the paddleboat and canoe both days we were there. We brought her life jacket so it was safe and a lot of fun for her. The lake is also set up nicely so you don't get overrun boats after you leave your dock from the cabin. The bedrooms were very comfortable. Plenty of sheets and pillows. We brought extra blankets because we get cold. The bathroom was clean like the rest of the house. We couldn't complain about one thing. The management was very detailed (thank you Rhonda!) and we felt well taken care of during our stay. The cabin is in walking distance of mini golf and the lumberjack show - and local restaurants. It's literally the perfect set up. I would definitely stay here again with my family!"

  • Amazing

"My family has stayed here a number of times. The place is very clean and the owners are very friendly and helpful, very easy to deal with, they went . Everything we needed was taken care of right away . We were treated very very well by the owners and the manager who is there to greet us when we arrive. I have never stayed anywhere that was better. I read a previous review here that was negative and I can only imagine this was from a difficult person that is never happy with anything. My family could not have asked for more. This is a beautiful special place that we love and are so thankful the owners are willing to share this piece of paradise with us. It is truly heaven on earth! See you in August!"

  • Fun in the Northwoods

"We spent a week here in late June. We had 4 adults and 3 kids age 17, 15, and 5. We had a wonderful time. The house met our needs beautifully. We had good fishing, good hiking/exploring and it's an easy trip into Hayward. We brought yard games such as bags & badminton and had fires most nights. The fish cleaning station in the garage was great. The fishing was a highlight. We rented a canoe & brought kayaks & a fishing boat to complete our fun. The owners were easy to contact & the neighbors were helpful. A huge storm blew in 5 minutes after half our party arrived. The other half arrived during the storm. There were downed trees (this is where the neighbors came in) across the road that had to be sawed/moved before we could all get TO the cabin. We were without power off & on for a couple days (along with a lot of the area). We still had a great time. We were able to get a generator from the owners so we could run the fridge & charge our phones. The house was large enough to suit all our needs & give us together time or time apart as needed. We cooked, BBQ'd and ate out. The screen porch was a huge asset & there were great lake breezes. We would suggest bringing measuring spoons & measuring cups if you plan to do any scratch cooking. Almost everything else was there. We thoroughly enjoyed the loons, ospreys, bald eagles, herons & otters. We even saw a bear in the neighborhood! Our only complaint with the cabin would be that the listing hasn't been updated recently. There is no longer a sandy beach area as shown in the pictures. That area is now over grown & the area right along the dock is not a spot we were comfortable using for swimming due to the bottom, grasses & water lilys. The dock/boardwalk access needs to be raised so that shallow wading is not required to reach the shore. We bought rubber boots & it was no longer an issue of wet feet. We're sure some of it was from the rain but it also appears the lake level has risen and the board walk has settled since the listing was made. We'd be at 5 Stars except for the discrepancy between the listed beach & the reality of it."

  • Relaxing time with a great view

"My daughter and I enjoyed staying at this lovely lake home as we took time away just to relax. It is a quiet spot with a large yard and a nice view of the lake - the windows are tall due to the high ceilings, so we had great views of the outdoors. The kitchen is nicely appointed and well-equipped and had everything we needed, and more. The living room has a large screen TV so we were able to enjoy movies in the evening. Ron and Nancy were very welcoming and we would recommend this home for a quiet get-away."
