  • Everything you want for your vacation at the lake

"You may be thinking that having a full swimming pool is excessive when you are renting a lake house in the summer. It's not! It rained one of the afternoons we were there. We just packed everything up at the lake when the storm blew in, and the kids hopped into the pool while it rained. Perfect! The pool has an automatic retracting pool cover, which makes everything even easier."

  • Beautiful

"I was blown away with the location of the property. Loved the location. No Internet and phone, who needs it, the back deck was the best. Spent wonderful evenings with the windows open. I love the country, will stay there again."

  • Garidods Vacation

"Coming from an urban area, we are constantly concerned with our kids being at risk from traffic and strangers. The days of kids being kicked out by mothers till the street lights come on, are long gone. Our kids have a much tighter circle of exploration and time to just be out in nature. When we saw this vacation spot we decided to give our kids the space to explore and be outdoors. We loved it! For 7 days our kids played on the beach, explored paths, collected rocks, played games like Red Rover and ran around with sparklers. We even threw them out of the house when they said they were bored and within an hour their imaginations had taken over and eight kids from age of 11-3 created a world of espionage in the most elaborate game of tag we had ever seen. The parents enjoyed reliving a bit of their childhoods through their kids. The barn easily accommodated us, and we even had plenty of room to spare. The main living area was spacious and beautiful. The kitchen was large and is fully equiped with cooking and dining utensils. It just invited us all to cook together. Bedrooms and bathrooms are designed beautifully and comfortable. The game room downstairs had us connecting with the kids by playing the games we had before video games. We did take advantage of their Apple TV and would settle the kids down each night with one of their children's movies. The outside space of the barn is just as beautiful with all the little touches by the owners plus that of previous visitors. Various bones, rocks and driftwood have been collected by guests and can be found displayed in various spots. The kids loved the bones the most! They had a great fire pit, basketball hoop, tire swing, tight rope and of course the hot tub. We had no issues with ticks or poison ivy which was the only concern we had. The caretaker was a great friendly guy who clued us in on some of the best place to explore. It was great to just listen to how the property had all come together. We highly recommend this beautiful vacation spot! Already trying to arrange a week at one of their other properties."

  • Magic. Spacious. Well thought-out property.

"We just spent the past 10 days at the Artist's Lake-View Country Home. It was wonderfully, artistically, intentional. What I mean is that every piece of furniture, art, shrubbery, trees, statues, windows, lighting was thought about and carefully placed - yet done so in a way that at first appears quirky, then looks completely natural. Applause for Richard Dillon creating such a place. There was plenty of room for us to do everything - sleep, cook, dine-in, walk or simply enjoy gazing out at a sunrise or the nearby woods on any of the 5 open or enclosed decks. The house and grounds/gardens are well kept and very inviting. The information we received about the place was clear and concise. It was very helpful. We came as 4: 2 adults, 2 kids. It can accommodate many more. If I would want anything it would be for more storage/closet/drawer space in the loft area where the kids chose to stay. The rest of the house was fine. We spent a good deal of the time hiking, biking and enjoying Lake Superior. 6 miles south is Washburn, WI, and I would recommend eating at Coco Cafe and Bakery for breakfast or lunch. DaLou's is a great choice for dinner. 6 miles north is Bayfield, WI, and I would recommend the Egg Toss Bakery Cafe for breakfast. Maggie's for lunch and dinner. Ethel's at 250, Pickled Herring Restaurant, Greunke's and Wild Rice Restaurant for dinner as well. The Candy Shoppe is great for ice cream and Big Water Coffee Roasters beats Starbucks anytime. There are concerts in the Park by the shore several times a week. I can't speak for the Wintertime. Our time there during June and July was fabulous. I imagine Spring and Fall are great as well. I would highly recommend the Artist's Lake-View Country home to anyone."
