  • Quiet and comfortable

"We enjoyed our time unplugged at Otterdaway. The cabin had everything we needed for cooking and relaxing in style, from dinnerware and cookware to comfortable furniture inside and outside, plus enough choices in watercraft to enjoy the lake. The photos and directions helped us anticipate what we were going to experience. We explored the gravel roads leading to the B-47 crash site and towns further north, and were graced by 5 eagles taking off along O'Brien Lake Road. We golfed Skye Whitecap Mountain for beautiful views and challenging fairways, and hiked 5 miles on the North Country National Scenic Trail near Mellen. There is something compelling about being unplugged and removed from TV, Internet and cell service - each day was our own to make. We appreciate Todd's call on the landline to make sure everything was as planned. We'd love to keep this place a secret, but hope others find their way north to this beautiful retreat."

  • Great Place to Stay

"The cabin was very clean, and extremely cool. Very cozy with all the comforts. One of our sons thought we should move there. Josh took care of anything that was needed, which was pretty much taking care of us on a kayak trip down the river, because everything else was well prepared. They leave you alone unless you need something from them. We were there for 4 days and mainly spent our time riding our ATVs around the area trails. The trails were good...a little too good (like roads), but we found better/more challenging riding up in Chequamegon Forest, and it's a short ride on nice trails to get there. We also did some fishing and kayaking. We mostly brought all our own food, so we didn't try the restaurant for anything other than some drinks ;) What we saw looked good, and people gave favorable comments. We had a great time, the weather was perfect, and we'll definitely be back....maybe even for snowmobiling. Our only complaints, and these aren't really complaints but suggestions, were in the yard around the cabin. It's well maintained and has a nice lawn, but with it's proximity to the bar/restaurant and canoe rentals, it could be made a little more private. Even a privacy fence on two sides would be a big improvement with some "No Parking" signs. We had a couple people park pretty much in the yard to go to the restaurant. Even so, it was still nice and quiet. We don't have any complaints of being near the restaurant as far as noise or anything. The's a standard Weber Kettle, but the grates were so corroded away that you had to put something on it to keep the food from falling through. We bought a lower (for the charcoal) grate and left it for them, but couldn't find the cooking grate locally. Minor thing I'm sure Josh will fix....he just may not have known. We had brought some wood for the fire pit, but it was located in an undesirable location, so we never used it. It might be a product of the trees surrounding the cabin for safety, but it was down by some tall weeds and not really "friendly". Maybe a new spot would be better. All in all, we loved it, and our two teenage boys had a great time....we even got them off their phones for a few days. I'd definitely recommend it."

  • Love this Villa!

"Just finished up another year of fun in Hayward, at Scott and Adu's wonderful Villa! This is our 3rd stay and 41 years of our group of girlfriend's getting away together for a long weekend. This year, we took a vote and decided to make this our permanent location! This beautiful Villa has so much room to spread out, a great kitchen, stocked with everything you need (and 2 coffee pots), a huge dining room table (great for dining and playing board games), 3 bathrooms, lots of beds, beautiful artwork, a lovely sunroom, a deck and fire pit--and it's within walking distance to Main Street for shopping or dining out and to the golf course! I would recommend this Villa for anyone staying in Hayward. See you next year!"

  • Very Nice Home

"The house is very beautiful and on a secluded part of the lake. If you are looking for a place to truly getaway; this is the place for you. There are also some modern amenities like internet and dish tv for the times when you need to reconnect with the world. We had 8 of us and the lay out was perfect for us with plenty of beds and space to spread out. We also really appreciated that the owners were available, but were never on the property. We truly felt like this was our home for the week. With that said, we were very fortunate to get a mild week while there in July. There is no air conditioning in the home. There are fans and a lot of windows so the home is very airy and ventilated, but I couldn't imagine tolerating the heat if we got a week where the temperatures were anywhere above the low 80's."
