  • Welcoming, charming, clean and consumately confortable!

"Seven retired women on a golf trip in the New Glarus area struck gold with a stay at this property. On a quiet street in New Glarus, Wisconsin, the 1914 brick home with geranium-filled window boxes on the corner of quiet streets beckoned us inside. We were cordially welcomed by Jane, the owner, and given an informative and historical tour. Original oak and hardwoods throughout the house lead you from room to room. Our stay here was like staying at home -- because it was so comfortably appointed and decorated. We found the three bathrooms with showers more than adequate for all of us women. The kitchen had more appliances, utensils and dishes than most of our own kitchens -- we lacked nothing. Everything in the house worked -- no frustrations of any kind in that regard. The house was clean, had no lingering odors and offered comfortable, clean beds with crisp linens. Satellite TV and WiFi posed no problems and worked well. We never ran out of hot water even if all three showers were running at once along with the dishwasher. The large farmhouse-style kitchen table was a great gathering place for our meals and of course adult beverages and cards and story-telling in the evenings. From the Duerst house, it's a short walk to the shops in New Glarus. Jane was accessible by phone and "on call" in the event we would need something. We chose the house because we wanted to visit the New Glarus area and nearby Mt. Horeb along with Monroe 27 miles to the south. We golfed, shopped, went to the New Glarus Brewery (with a charming reproduction of a German beer garden) and made it to the Duluth Trading Supply outlet store in nearby Belleville and the Duluth Trading Supply store in Mt. Horeb. And, of course other shops in all of these areas. Lunch at the very authentic Poncho and Lefty's on the square in Monroe is not to be missed. Don't let the storefront or your first steps into the place scare you. The food is amazing! And reasonable. Bikers and business people and tourists in this small place while we were there. We will return to this property for sure -- maybe with our families, perhaps for a family reunion or maybe for another golf trip."

  • Peaceful abode

"We so enjoyed our stay! Mt. Horeb is the perfect small town and Madison is a quick drive for big city entertainment. This home is so inviting and comfortable, we didn't want to leave. Perfect get-away for adults, we will visit again."

  • Wonderful Experience!!!

"This property is beautiful! It is much larger than expected, filled with thoughtful amenities, and was sparkling clean. We visited the property for a girls weekend away for 7. It was exactly what we needed. I can not recommend this property enough. Thank you Prairie Hill Haven...we fully intend to return!"
