  • Nice house, nice lake

"House was modern as far as lake cottages go. Extremely quiet area. I wanted peaceful and that is was. Roads were good for walks and bike rides with very little if any traffic. Somewhat hilly roads if you have limitations. Beds were OK, but not great. Cleanliness was extremely good. Nice yard and view of lake from all locations including the house. Excellent , large deck and a new grill was a plus. Limited restaurants in the area but our 2 favorite were the Lakewood Café for breakfast, right in Winter and the Big Bear on the Flambeau River. This was ~ a 15 minute ride. Good spot to take day trips out to see the scenic areas including the national forest that is close by."

  • Thanksgiving weekend getaway

"This is the first time we have stayed in Door County in the fall. And our first time staying at Kulma 1 cottage. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the comforts of home in the cottage. There were only two of us, and our 2 little dogs, so the house was bigger than we needed. All the bedrooms were nicely decorated and set for making guests feel at home. We had a fire one night in the fireplace, which was very nice. The cozy kitchen had what we needed since we ate out for the most part. So many good places to eat right close to this cabin. If you are looking for contemporary decor and modern amenities this would not be the place for you. The tv is old, and the furniture is vintage or has the vintage flair. We had trouble getting the cable remote to work, but everything else worked fine. We loved everything about our stay since that is our preference for time away from home, and would definitely stay again. Kulma cottage 2 and 3 are on the same property and share the driveway."

  • Perfect family vacation

"We had an amazing getaway to Hayward at the Rest A While cabin. We walked in and it was spotless. The living room, kitchen and dining room had all the amenities we needed. The grill out back was great for cooking steaks. There was plenty of outdoor seating and a fire pit for making s'mores. We took our toddler out on the paddleboat and canoe both days we were there. We brought her life jacket so it was safe and a lot of fun for her. The lake is also set up nicely so you don't get overrun boats after you leave your dock from the cabin. The bedrooms were very comfortable. Plenty of sheets and pillows. We brought extra blankets because we get cold. The bathroom was clean like the rest of the house. We couldn't complain about one thing. The management was very detailed (thank you Rhonda!) and we felt well taken care of during our stay. The cabin is in walking distance of mini golf and the lumberjack show - and local restaurants. It's literally the perfect set up. I would definitely stay here again with my family!"
