  • Incredible!

"We just returned from a week-long visit to this magnificent compound with our six kids, ages 5-15. Oh my... what an absolute treat! The house is perfectly remodeled, the kitchen had everything we needed, the grounds are just incredible and FUN , and we had such a blast in the pool and on the lake. Thank you so much, Colleen, for a truly wonderful week of beautiful family time!!!"

  • Beautiful and cozy home - what an amazing find!

"We had three married couples, a baby and myself staying the cabin for the weekend of an Adventure Race in Delafield. The cabin was beautiful and just what we were looking for. A grill, a gorgeous deck over the lake and a fire pit were just the ticket. I arrived at sunset and sat out on the furniture watching it descend upon the lake. The rooms were very accommodating, and it was so great to have the pack and play and high chair available for use. The kitchen was well supplied, and board games were a plenty. The post-race shower felt great, especially with the heating lamp in the bathroom. We found nothing that we were not satisfied with! Very clean and well-maintained. Lori and Tim, we loved it!"

  • Private and peaceful retreat

"This was our 3rd stay at this home, and it is such a peaceful and beautiful setting. Sitting on the porch or down on the patio overlooking the lake is heaven. The house is well-appointed and very clean -- with high quality bed linens (a thing I have come to value greatly after staying at many, many rental homes) and a complete kitchen. Overall the setting is spectacular and the house a perfect escape."

  • Perfect escape for families or writers

"We spent a delightful week at this lovely lake house in early August. A phenomenal book collection and artwork from around Asia give this old Victorian a lot of character and charm. Yet, the place isn’t so fancy or fragile that you’re worried about having kids visit. The caretaker was responsive, super friendly and gave great recommendations. (Elegant Farmer, a short drive from here, has the best apple pie I’ve ever tasted!) My young kids caught panfish and bass off the pier every day. The water there is clear and shallow enough that you can see the fish eyeing the bait. We rented kayaks and explored the lake. On our next trip we hope to paddle all the way to Lake Lulu, a no-wake DNR lake that's supposed to be gorgeous. For those who prefer swimming in pools to lakes, there’s a wonderful newer YMCA nearby in Mukwonago that has a zero-depth-entry pool and a waterslide -- much nicer facilities than the Ys we have in the Chicago area. One of my favorite parts of the trip was seeing all the cranes. We hear their distinctive calls when they migrate overhead in the spring. Now we know where these magnificent birds spend their summers. On our last morning as we packed up, a crane stood on the pier, the brilliant red feathers on its head shining in the sun. A perfect end to a perfect trip! We’re already planning our next visit. p.s. This would make a great writer’s retreat in any season. There's strong wifi and three distinct spaces for writing. The library is surrounded on three sides with windows overlooking the woods. The screened porch overlooks the lake, and the dining room has long table with plenty of room to spread out your notes. You’re in a serene setting, surrounded by books, not far from coffee shops, and there's no TV to distract you."
