This apartment is located in the heart of the Upper East Side (East 80's). This historic, 1890’s brownstone is just five blocks straight East from the Metropolitan Art Museum and Central Park. It is very centrally located to transportation, museums, shops and cafes. It is a very charming block with mostly row-houses. If you ever saw the movie "You've Got Mail" with Meg Ryan...this is about as close as it gets.
It recently underwent a mulit-million dollar renovation and now houses three apartments (two are short-term) and one is the owner’s duplex. The rental apartment is only used for short-term stays and both units are furnished identical and have the same floor plan. One unit is the 2nd floor and the other unit is the 3rd floor.
The apartment has the feel of a high end hotel suite comparable to a Marriott. The furnishings are attractive and comfortable. The bedding is 1st quality, including pillow top mattresses, down comforters, down pillows, and Egyptian cotton sheets. The apartment has one bedroom with a king bed, two bedrooms with a queen bed and one bedroom with a full bed.
The living room has a 32 inch plasma screen tv, and a large tv in the master bedroom with cable. The apartment has wireless internet for your personal computer. The apartment has central air conditioning.
There kitchen is new and stocked. We are family friendly and children are always welcome. There is a portable crib, high chair and a basket of toys. We can NOT accommodate pets and NO smoking in the apartment. There is a fair amount of street parking for cars and a reasonable priced garage on the block. There are several gourmet food markets in the area and even a full sized grocery store just around the corner.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2001
We are a couple with four kids. Both orginally both from Utah, met here in New York on a blind date. That was 15 years ago. I graduated from Columbia University and worked at a large consulting firm. Now I run the rental units and enjoy staying home with my children.
Bill works in business development for a software company.
Why the Owner Chose Upper East Side
Prior to buying our building, we lived in four neighborhoods with in NYC. There is a reason why most long term residents of NYC eventually migrate to the Upper East Side. It is similar to Hyde Park in London. The Upper East Side is consistently manicured with clean sidewalks, flower boxes and splendid street cafes and boutique shops. In fact, it is such a nice neighborhood we send our kids to the public elementary school.
The real draw for the Upper East Side is Central Park. We are located a five minute walk to some on the prettiest areas of the park. Don't take just our word about the location.... Madonna just bought a $40 million house four blocks away.
The Unique Benefits of this Apartment
This will be a completely different experience than staying at a midtown hotel. While only a five minute cab or subway from Grand Central Station, this location is far less bohemian and noisy. You will hear birds out the window, see squirrels in the trees and have people greet you as you walk down the street. The city gets overwhelming if you are running around seeing tourist sites. Our guests all comment how nice it is to come back to a peaceful setting. I guarantee after three days you will consider yourself a New Yorker.

Six of us just got back last week after spending five days here. The apartment was well-maintained and very clean. Beds were quite comfortable, and the living area was roomy enough for all of us. We got to meet Lulu (the housekeeper), and I had to call the manager, Mabel, when one of the bathroom lights burned out; it was promptly replaced. All my questions were quickly replied to via email before we arrived. Would definitely book this apartment again. We always try to eat our way across the city and did so this time. Great breakfasts at The Barking Dog (1453 York) and Mansion's Diner (York between 86th and 87th). Had a delicious Italian meal with the best bread in the world at Arturo's (85th and York). Great trip; helpful staff. Thank you for a great place!

Just wanted to thank you for such a wonderful week-end ! My girlfriends and I truly enjoyed the apt. It made our week-end extra special. We took advantage of the grocery store half a block away and the wonderful warm apartment to cook together. The kitchen is well stocked with the essentials and the great living / dinning area was perfect to accomodate the six of us comfortably. The apt. was also perfectly located near Central Park, so we took advantage of the short distance to run there everyday. The apt. was very neat and well kept. We liked it so much we may request it again for our next year reunion.

8 of us gathered for a night in NYC at this beautiful apartment. The place was spotless on arrival with large bedrooms and numerous baths (Even enough for 8 women!). The kitchen was the perfect size alongside a wonderful kitchen/dining area for gathering. Plus, it was air conditioned! The neighborhood was wonderful with numerous restaruants, bars, and businesses within walking distance. Can't thank the owners enough for such a quality place and such detailed and timely responses from their management team.

We stayed in this unit 18-21 Mar 2011. Our party icluding 4 moms and 4 pre-teen girls celebrating birthdays in NYC. This clean unit is absolutely true to the listing with wonderful and plentiful linens and comfortable beds with lots of room to spread out in a safe and convenient location. The subway is about a 10 minute and there are lots of eaterys (many family friendly) near by. The owners were very helpful during the entire process and we had chance to speak to them during our stay as well. Our only regret is that our stay was not longer than 4 nights! We will definitely consider this same location for future trips!

This apartment was exactly what we needed to fit the whole family. It was perfectly located to where we needed to be and so much better than everyone having to stay in a hotel. The beds were comfortable, the living room cozy and there was a garage right across the street for the car. We didn't move it the entire weekend and it was reasonable. I highly recommend this for those wanting a home away from home in the city.

Our family of 7 thoroughly enjoyed our 10 night stay in this apartment in July. Everything you could need is close by including a grocery shop and a myriad of food choices. It is easy to either hail a cab or take the subway into the city. Central Park was close enough and there were lots of parks within walking distance. (Carl Schurz Park was a favourite). THe apartment was very clean and comfortable. We would highly recommend it especially to young families who don't want to be in the noise and hustle and bustle.

Nice residential area, booking was simple and owners answered questions promptly. Great place to stay 5 blocks to Met museum, try Alice's teacup for scones in the morning 2 blocks away....bit of a hike to the subway (6 blocks).. but got to walk off all the food we ate!Wonderful, thank you!

We stayed here April 8 - 13, 2008. There were 4 of us and the layout and 3 bathrooms were so nice to have. Very clean. Great beds, bedding and towels. It had everything we needed...even umbrellas! Great neighborhood with lots of restaurants, shopping and food stores nearby. The subway was about a 10 minute walk. We even walked home at midnight and felt safe. We just wish we had more time to spend exploring "our neghborhood," but maybe next time. We would definitely consider staying here again!

A pretty, spacious apartment in a pleasant neighbourhood. Very convenient proximity to groceries, drugstore, restaurants etc., but a quiet street for Manhattan.
