Relax and enjoy your elegant home in San Miguel, a beautiful colonial city in the heart of Mexico. At Casa Colina (the House on the Hill), you will enjoy light and bright open areas, a colonial ambiance and all the modern conveniences. Casa Colina has been featured on the popular House and Garden Tour to benefit the Biblioteca Publica.
Casa Colina is in the Ojo de Agua neighborhood of San Miguel, named for the ancient church and spring. Your old and new friends will clamor (trust us - we know!) to visit you at this lovely home, and both young and young-at-heart will ride the waterslide from the outdoor living area into the pool!
Enter the home through the walled garden and POOL area, and climb the gracious staircase to the airy outdoor living room with a fireplace. Stop, lounge, relax and enjoy the views, or enter the interior of the home. From the outdoor sala, you may enter the kitchen and dining area or the elegant living room featuring a hand-carved cantera fireplace with gas logs.
You are above the town, with the convenience of a garage, but still only a fifteen-minute downhill walk to Centro (less to the Instituto). When you want to go back home, grab a cab for $2, or get a workout and walk home. We also have a SCOOTER available for an additional fee.
At bedtime, you will enjoy the cool bedrooms on the first level. We built the bedrooms on the ground floor to enjoy both cool bedrooms and a better view from the main living areas. You will love the new, comfortable, American-sized Sealy mattresses and the Egyptian cotton sheets on the hand-crafted beds. Each bedroom boasts a unique boveda ceiling romantically lighted from the hand-cast mouldings.
The home has an open floor plan, but still is equipped with separate areas if groups of guests would like some privacy. Find your favorite spot on the rooftop terrace, the main living floor, the outdoor living room or in the cozy 'Mexican Modern' television room.
You can enjoy your holiday without everyday cares, as Amalia comes each day to clean the home and do the laundry. She will also cook breakfast and the midday dinner for a small additional fee. Just let us know!
Let's take a moment to talk about WATER. First, there is the pool with its thrilling water slide. Second, all the water in the house is purified, so you can drink without worry. Third, the showers in the house are fabulous Rainfall showerheads, including the outdoor shower. You'll have the best showers of your life. Fourth, there is a Jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom.
The bedrooms comfortably sleep five, but trundle beds and a futon in the television room will accommodate occasional overnight guests. Cable television, cable internet, wifi plus a security system complete the modern conveniences in this colonial treasure.
We have a competent and friendly staff. Amalia, the maid, comes daily to keep the house sparkling. Fernando, our gardener, comes three times per week. Best of all Norma, our house manager, is authorized to solve any problems that may arise. You will be carefree, except for balancing all of the marvelous activities available in San Miguel de Allende.

This house is great. Very well located it has everything you need during your stay. We loved the terrace since we were able to have a BBQ while our daughter was having fun in the pool. The pool slide is amazing. The maid recommended by the owner cooks very well and is a very nice person. We will certainly comeback!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

What a beautiful home to stay at for our stay in SMA. The pictures don't give it justice. One week wasn't long enough. Wonderful pool for the kids to play in. Beautiful rooftop terrace. Nice outdoor living spaces. The weather was perfect! Sunny and warm always with a nice breeze to keep the house cool. Sweetest Maid Amalia came every day to help pick up and do laundry and dishes. It was wonderful. Thank you so much!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We are happily returning to Casa Colina for the third straight winter. After 4 seasons in San Miguel my husband and I found this gem in Ojo de Agua. The main floor living space is lovely and the view is magnificent. We spend many happy hours on the two spacious terraces. On warm nights we eat outside having prepared food in the very well appointed kitchen. Our numerous guests all want to return. The maid is reliable and accommodating and the gardener takes great pride in his work. The house manager is always available if a concern arises with the property. San Miguel can be noisy, but Casa Colina is the quietest place we have rented. Casa Colina is even more attractive than the pictures indicate. Bold art decorates the walls and the quality of the furnishings is first rate. Casa Colina is a visual feast and we never tire of the aesthetics. Located half way up a steep hill, we enjoy the exercise we get going to the center or to the Instituto de Allende. Restaurants in San Antonio are easily accessible as is Mega, the large supermarket. When we do large shopping trips we take an inexpensive taxi. We do not often use the swimming pool and haven't yet braved the water slide, but children of friends love this additional feature of Casa Colina.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

This house has it all; great views, comfortable furniture, fine bedding and mattresses, a warm swimmig pool, and a well stocked kitchen! Everywhere there is attention to detail designed to make the guest comfortable. As this house is also used by the owner, it has the feel of a well stocked luxury vacation home, not just a rental. The staff is amazing, Amalia, the maid ,is efficient and helpful, gardener Fernando, and manager, Norma, complete the professional package. Any problems are dealt with promptly and cheerfully. Alex, the owner, goes out of her way to stay involved and answers Emails promply. This is the best house we're rented in our 12 years of renting in San Miguel, so we'll be back again next year for our fourth time.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We want to thank you, your staff, and your management team for making our 4 week stay in your beautiful home a total delight! Casa Colina is simply gorgeous, and at the same time, very comfortable and “livable.” Choosing from the array of beautiful environments to relax, eat, or just admire the views was a daily aesthetic adventure. We deeply appreciated all of the personal touches that make your house a true home– replete with books, games, yummy linens, and a “true cook’s” kitchen! …not to mention the beautiful swimming pool and fun slide! All of the special amenities offered are just too many to list. We have rented several homes in San Miguel over the last 7 years or so, and Casa Colina is “hands down” the best choice we’ve ever made. We had such a fun and relaxing time “at home,” we had to drag ourselves out of the the house to go enjoy the town! We will continue to recommend Casa Colina to all of our friends, and we will most definitely be back!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Why the Owner Chose Ojo de Agua:
There is no place like San Miguel de Allende! It is the perfect place for someone who wants to experience Mexico, learn something, live in a magical setting and have a lively social life, all at the same time! The people you meet in San Miguel are interesting and friendly - gringos and Mexicanos alike.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
You can enjoy all of the benefits of San Miguel, without the drudgery of day-to-day life. The first time I came my children were 9, 6 and 1.5 years old. My life was a thrilling merry-go-round of meals, picking up, laundry and grocery shopping. When I came to San Miguel I was able to have others do all of those things, while I re-connected with the part of me I liked the best - I could be a good mom and still go and take a language class, or have lunch with my new friends (who are now old friends).
