Richard and Carol have thought of everything needed to make a stay in their wonderful townhouse enjoyable and carefree. The three decks give views starting at treetop level going up to the top deck with an above the forest canopy view across the countryside. The hummingbird feeder was the focus for three hummingbirds. They seem to be very territorial with one chasing another away every it got near. Their acrobatics were reminiscent of World War II dog fights. Only they could fly straight up and down very fast, stop and change direction abruptly. We did not discover the amazing electric "fireplace" until the last couple of days. We did not need the heat, but watched the "fire" while enjoying DVDs on the big HDTV. Some of the cabins we considered in the GA mountains were at least 20 miles from shopping. Even taking it slowly down the mountain, we routinely made it to the large Ingles supermarket in 7 minutes. So, forgetting to get something was not an issue, it was just a quick trip up and down the mountain. Also, many of the cabins we looked at had as much of ten miles of gravel road to get to. Although there are lots of curves and plenty of climbing, the road to Halfway to Heaven is entirely paved and wide enough that with a little planning two cars can get pass each other throughout the way up and down. A few days were hot in late July, but the air conditioning kept the townhouse comfortable then. Most days it was pleasant even in early August, with the temperature at the summit about 5 degrees cooler than downtown Clayton. Halfway to Heaven is halfway to many interesting places, including Asheville, NC, Greenville, SC. Don't miss Toccoa Falls and the falls in Tallulah Gorge. The drive around l Lake Raburn is delightful, but the north side is a very narrow dirt road. The short hike to Minnehaha Falls on the north side of the lake is well worth the effort. Anyway, we enjoyed our three week stay at Halfway to Heaven and look forward to staying there again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Rich & Carol, thank you both so much for providing a wonderful home-base for our hiking vacation! We have all truly enjoyed our stay -- it was a great area for Winnie, our dog, to explore; plus, she made friends with Roxie and Bentley, the two local canine characters. We had no idea if she would enjoy hiking, but guess what? She led us on a few 4+ milers and several shorter ones. Your collection of hiking/exploring books were a tremendous help in finding some choice trails, including The Bartram Trail, Appalachian Trail, Tallulah Gorge State Park, Black Rock State Park, White Rock Mountain, Warwoman Dell and Hemlock Falls. We also enjoyed visiting the Persimmon Creek Winery – what a beautiful place! After all of our ventures in the area, it was so nice to come back to your well-equipped home where we could relax, have dinner and walk up to The Summit to enjoy the beautiful sunsets! Good job! Wonderful place -- outstanding views and very comfortable accommodations!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

May 8, 2010 We had a great two weeks in your Clayton vacation rental. The view from almost every part of the house was spectacular. The condo is very spacious and is well stocked with everything we needed. All the furniture is extremely comfortable. One of the things that impressed us most was the total peace and quiet of the location, yet a short 1.6 mile drive down the road put us right in the midst of restaurants, gas stations, groceries, and everything else that the city provides. We used your condo as a base, from which we traveled to many beautiful state parks, hiking trails, waterfalls, and some of the most photogenic scenery we have ever seen. Dealing with the owners was a total pleasure. Communication was fast and friendly, and instructions and suggestions were plentiful and very helpful. In short, everything was good, nothing was bad, and we recommend your condo without reservation. Thanks, LarryRecommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Rich and Carol. What a wonderful place to stay! Your townhome is very, very nice and extremely well equipped. We especially enjoyed the master suite and the decks. The view is amazing. Even on the one rainy day, we just couldn't stop looking at that view. We will certainly recommend Halfway to Heaven to all our friends who enjoy a tranquil and beautiful setting. We'll be back. Thanks for sharing your home with us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Wow!! What a wonderful place to stay!! Anything you need is all here!! The view is amazing!! The beds are so comfortable. The condo is immaculate. We had our rehershal dinner here and it turned out great. My bridesmaids and maid of honor stayed friday night and we had so much fun sitting by the fireplace playing games and drinking wine. My cousins came up on Saturday morning to do my hair and makeup and it was so nice to have all of the space in the master bathroom not to mention the breathtaking view from the big window above the hot tub. Steve and I came back on Saturday night and enjoyed it so much. We didn't get to stay as long as we wanted but our time there will always be remembered!! Thank you so much for sharing your little piece of heaven with us!! We'll be back for sure!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

For the first 10 minutes after our arrival, all we could do was stand on the deck and look in amazement at the view. "Halfway to Heaven" it truly is! What an amazing vista. As for the accommodations - you have thought of everything. It is easy to feel at home here because nothing is missing! We really appreciated all the "amenities". Our stay was short, but we would love to come again - and I will be sure to tell many people about VRBO and "Halfway to Heaven". If only they could see this view! Thanks for everything!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

What a beautiful place to stay. The house was extremely clean and neat upon our arrival. We really appreciated the complete peacefulness and quiet upon returning after our days adventures. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck with our morning coffee watching the mist rise over the mountains. We highly recomend the home to others looking for a peaceful place to spend a vacation in this beautiful area of Georgia.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

About the owner: Richard and Carol Hahn, Tyrone, GA
Why the Owner Chose Clayton:
We love Rabun county and the mountains of Northeast Georgia!
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
Our mountaintop location is quiet and serene, with breathtaking views of the southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There's a lot to do here, including hiking, boating, fishing, golfing, shopping for crafts or local produce, or browsing around charming Clayton. We're only 5 minutes from Clayton, but our location on the opposite side of the mountain from town provides you with a view of the Chattahoochee National Forest that is mostly devoid of human presence. There's no better way to top off an adventure filled day than to enjoy a glass of locally grown wine from one of the decks at Halfway to Heaven!
