This charming Marais apartment has undergone a full renovation to enhance its historic beauty while integrating modern comforts. The apartment has beautiful original herringbone hardwood floors and large windows in every room. Architectural features include an original fireplace and crown moldings.
We have collaborated with a decorator to ensure that the furnishings would enhance the apartment's architectural elegance while retaining a strong focus on comfort.
The apartment is on the second floor (up one flight of stairs) in an 18th century building on the rue de Saintonge where it intersects with the rue de Turenne. The building has a lovely cobblestone courtyard with flowering bushes. The Marais neighborhood was recently rated one of Paris' safest. Your security is doubly ensured by the building concierge and a security code equipped building front door.
We have used our experience to create the perfect home away from home. This apartment is quintessentially Parisian yet features all of the amenities that the cosmopolitan traveler demands.
The living room has double exposure and a brand new open kitchen fully-equipped with fridge/freezer, ceramic stove top, oven, dishwasher, microwave and separate clothes washer and dryer. There is
also a dining table and a comfortable seating area with a large couch (that folds out into a Queen size bed with extra-thick mattress). There is a large flat screen TV equipped with cable television (with two channels in English), a multi-zone DVD player, a stereo system with sound-dock to plug in your I-pod, and wireless high-speed internet.
The master bedroom features an American King size (180) bed, two large windows and overhead lighting as well as lamps. There is a built in closet with hanging space. The en-suite bathroom has a toilet,
washbasin and bathtub with a wall-mounted shower-head and glass shower screen. There is a courtyard-facing window in the bathroom.
The second bedroom has two twin beds (that can also be made up as a King), a fireplace, and a large window and also has a built-in closet. The second bathroom is across the hall from the second bedroom and has a toilet, washbasin and shower cabin. There are two courtyard- facing windows in the shower-room.
The two bedrooms are located at opposite ends of the apartment-an ideal layout for couples traveling together as well as families.

We stayed at the unit in late May 2011, and could not have been more pleased! The unit is exactly as represented by the pictures and description, and is quintessential neighborhood Paris at its best! The metro is a very short walk around the corner. There is a complete grocery just down the street. There are two patisseries (bakeries) very close, and we got freshly baked warm croissants each morning. We were met by Axel, the owner's rep, upon arrival, and he was most helpful in giving us all the info on the unit and answering all of our questions about the unit and about Paris. The concerns addressed in the review below, dated 5/18, were from a guest who stayed before our arrival, and the issues raised have been addressed. If you are looking for an American hotel experience, this is not the place to stay. If you are looking to experience all the charm, character, and unique magic that neighborhood Paris has to offer, then book now. I hope we can return soon.

We had a great stay in this apartment. We were two adults and our two teenage daughters. We found the it very comfortable and a good layout worked for our family. The location was great. Just a block and 1/2 to the Metro station, two blocks from a fantastic Marais shopping street and yet quiet at night for sleeping. All of the amenities in the apartment were adequate for our needs and we found the owner very easy and pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a place to stay while visiting Paris.

Apartment In The Marais, Paris

We stayed in this apartment for 8 nights in April 2011. The location is excellent – an interesting 20/25 minute walk from Notre Dame and other Parisian sites. The Metro stop is about a 3 minute walk. It is a short 5 minute walk from Rue de Bretagne which has a marvellous variety of deli’s, cafes, pubs, bakeries, grocery stores and specialized markets – giving easy access to anything you might need. The Apartment space is more than adequate for 2 couples providing individual bedrooms and bathrooms separated by the living communal living space. However, we found the condition of the interior quite “tired” and less than the quality expected as compared to other apartments we have stayed in. Although the washing machine was in good working order, the dryer was unusable (as acknowledged by the Apartment Manager). The dining table provided was an old card/games table which was wobbly at best and difficult for 4 people to comfortably sit around for meals. The carpet by the sofa under the coffee table either needed a good cleaning or replacement (several spill stains). Basic supplies were provided (tea, coffee, laundry/dish soap etc.) and there were sufficient cutlery and dishes for 4 adults. However, 3 of the glasses were either chipped or cracked. And finally, one of the showers leaked and the door to the toilet would not close properly. With a little attention, this property could provide an excellent base during a visit to Paris.
Owner response:We were very sorry to receive this review as we care deeply about our apartments and our customers' experience. We have noted the comments and have replaced the chipped glasses, cleaned the rug and installed a new clothes dryer. The leak has also been fixed. The table is an antique and not a card table and is comfortable for up to 6 people. We are glad that the guest has noted the fantastic location and layout of the apartment.

The Rue Saintonge apartment is in a perfect location and has just the amenities anyone would want when staying in Paris, i.e., 3 blocks from the Metro; walking distance to Notre Dame and Place des Voges; nearby bakeries, cafes, covered market; cheese shops as well as 2 full baths and spacious bedrooms. We have stayed near the Jardin du Luxembourg and on Rue Jacob; but, this apartment location with it's lovely courtyard, we think, is the best for first time and return visitors. It's close enough for walking to yet out of the way of the main tourist haunts. The apartment is top-flight.

C'est Magnifique! What an amazing time we had (myself, my husband and 3 teen/young adult daughters). The apartment was a perfect combination of location and quiet sanctuary. The beds and linen were so comfortable, and after 18 hours a day of walking the city, a well needed rest was much appreciated. I can't say enough good things. The neighborhood bakery and cafe were a delight. My husband and I hope to return and stay in this same apartment within the next year, as it's so easy to navigate the City from this very central location. I wish I was still there and cant wait to return.

I highly recommend this apartment to anyone hoping to have a true Parisian experience! Situated just above the picturesque Place des Vosges, it is conveniently located in the heart of the unbeatable food and fashion shopping of the northern Marais. It is clean and spacious and provided us with plenty of room to relax after sightseeing all day long. My husband and I were both working a little bit from Paris, and the desk in the second bedroom plus the dining room table meant we both had our own work stations. The master bed was very comfortable ( and ... again .. huge). The apartment was immaculate and the property manager would have arranged maid service had we needed/ rquested it. The apartment was equiped with every amenity you could need - from kitchen appliances to washer and dryer to European hairdryers. The towels and sheets were all clean and smelled good when we arrived. We even had a bottle of delicious wine waiting for us! All in all - the combination of location, space, and modern amenities made this apartment a home run for our vacation. Charm and function all at once! This is a great apartment for working individuals or familes of 4 and up...

To become a real Parisian in a number of days can only be accomplished if cast into the right environment, and this place certainly fits the bill. Located in Paris’ bustling Marais and surrounded by fantastic foods, this apartment which is located on the second floor above a quiet cobble stone inner courtyard provides more than a home away from home. It contains all of the comforts one could hope to find with a style few get to experience and will set you down the path to understanding existentialism.

My wife and I, along with our 2 daughters (age 11 and 7) stayed at this apartment July 2008 for 5 nights. The apartment is perfectly situated. We walked everywhere. I even bought a carnet of metro tickets which we never used. We found the apartment clean and well appointed. The renovations are great, and despite being downtown the double glazed windows kept out most of the noise. There was a really nice bakery 30 secs away where I bought fresh croissants and a baguette each morning as well as a good fruit stand just at the end of the street. I would definitely stay at this apartment the next time I'm visiting the city of lights.
