  We rented this house for a family getaway. We had 10 people in the house and had plenty of space. The home is beautiful with a full wall of large windows, giving you a gorgeous view of the ocean. The furnishings were all very nice and in great condition and the house was exceptionally clean. It's obviously well taken care of. We enjoyed walks on the beach and it was very easy to get to it from the private path just out back of the house. This house has a topnotch view. We all had a wonderful time and would definitely rent there again.

  I agree with a all of the positive reviews and so won't repeat them. My additional comments are that the sleeping areas have almost no furniture. We would have appreciated closets/wardrobes, dressers, chairs, more floor coverings, etc. They are quite austere. For the price, I expected them to be completely furnished. We also would have appreciated some storage in the bathrooms. As is, everything must be stored on the ledges of the sink. Impractical and unattractive. Also, the spiral staircase up to the sleeping loft is quite narrow. I wouldn't want to have to descend.ascend in the middle of the night. Looks great but usability was sacrificed for the sake of appearance. There were some minor maintenance issues that will probably be corrected right away since I just notified the owner. I would consider staying here again but would carefully weigh the price of this place against the other options in the area. If it were more completely furnished, even with more of the Ikea stuff it has now, it would be more livable and more comfortable.

  The pluses: location right on private stretch of beach with stunning views and + privacy. Lots of open space in kitchen/dining/living room. Comfortable couches to relax. Very clean & well-maintained. Well-stocked kitchen, laundry. Not so perfect: NO mirrors in guest house (converted garage) ! No outdoor furniture on deck (even though photo shows outdoor table/chairs) so despite lovely days, we were unable to dine or just sit outside. You do have to drive to get to nearby towns (Cannon Beach or Manzanita). If you are planning to walk or run on the beach, you can only go about a mile so will need to drive to access long stretches of beach.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

  We rented the house for a weekend with our family. It worked out perfect. The beach access couldnt have been any better. We really enjoyed the modern design, perfect location on the beach, the amazing ocean view, the room to play/cook/sleep, and we are looking forward to going back or renting another house by the same owners.

• Such an Amazing Place

  We have done lot of traveling and stayed in many places all over the world. This was our first time to the Oregon Coast - so there was a lot of research and hoping for the best - hands down this is our favorite place. Driving up the quaint little drive - very private and shaded by beautiful trees. And then the house - WOW. The decor was beautiful and cozy and so inviting - it felt like we were staying in a friend's home. I took a video of our 3 kids (ages 6-13) as we opened the door for the first experience in the house - lots of squeals of joy (even from me). The whole front of the cottage was windows and more windows - so beautiful. The layout with the open living room/dining room/kitchen was great - you were always looking at the ocean. The little guest house was so fresh and fun and perfect for another family or grandparents. The pictures show exactly how it would look if you walked in today - yum. We were so grateful for how fresh and clean it was - spotless. Thank you! Thank you Ginny for helping us put this together at the last minute. You were so friendly and welcoming - which made our experience that much sweeter. We like to explore different areas for our vacations - but Arch Cape/ Cannon Beach are on our "have to go back" list now because of this awesome experience. I would recommend your home to everyone! We took full advantage of the nature time and lots of walking right from the house as well as other beaches. There was so much public access to the beach it was great. We also loved exploring Cannon Beach - lots of walking around and fun little shops. It used to be an artist community and still has that quaint feeling - fun little shops and restaurants - also icecream shops for the kids. Sleeping Monk coffee was awesome.

• A Great Venue!

  We had a wonderful time on our vacation to the Oregon coast. Your house was perfect for our 3 families and there was nothing else that was needed to make this a wonderful family reunion. We loved the tidal pools at low tide, the campfire every night and watching people and their dogs interact freely on the beach. We do not have the privilege of enjoying these things on the New Jersey beaches. Here we have lots of people, no dogs and no campfires allowed. Oh, did I mention we also pay to go on the beach. Also while our temperatures at home were in the high 90s we enjoyed the cool Oregon temperatures. The proximity to Cannon Beach was great for restaurants and shopping. Thank you for the beautiful venue that has made some lasting memories for our family. Bill and Mary Lou Newborg

• Spectacular getaway

  We traveled from St. Louis to spend a few days at the beach with family who live in Portland. Markham Lane was perfect! The location was truly spectacular; as close to the beach as you can get, very private and yet still near to Manzanita and Cannon Beach for shopping and dining. The kids loved the sleeping loft, complete with TV and DVD player. The rest of the accommodations were clean and comfortable, perfect for six adults. The master bedroom was even big enough to add a queen-size air mattress for my younger son so we didn't have to worry about him navigating the spiral stairs in the night. The kitchen had everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed the gorgeous view from the dining/living area. We will certainly look in to a returning to this house next time we are in Arch Cape!

  My family with adult kids and one grandchild had a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable stay at Markham Lane. The guest house is a real advantage. We had all our meals together in the generous dining area, and we enjoyed sitting by the fire and watching a movie together in the living room. The view of the ocean is fantastic, and we had direct access to the beach. It's a great place for a family week-end.

  the house was great, and the location was beautiful. All of the rooms and beds were extremely comfortable, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need.
