VRBO – A Place of Tranquility among the Trees We spent an enchanting fall weekend at this house last November. The layout worked perfectly for our party of four, which consisted of two couples. My husband and I stayed in the bedroom suite on the ground floor. The bed and bedding were amazingly comfortable. A pot-bellied stove (electric and very easy to operate) kept us cozy, and we had direct access to the outdoor hot tub, and then downstairs bath has a beautiful shower lined with river rocks for rinsing off afterwards. The upstairs suite was equally well appointed, and it too had direct access to the hot tub (a door off the bedroom leads directly down to the tub). I agree with others who have commented that the photos fail to do the house justice. The lovely Japanese-themed décor is wonderfully successful, making the house feel like a place of tranquility amid the trees. The well-equipped kitchen and the dining area were perfect for the dinner we prepared our first night and there were games galore for afterwards. The weather was a little crisp, but even so we couldn’t resist bundling up in sweaters to enjoy sitting on the sunny second-floor balcony that overlooks the property. We also very much appreciated the location. Previously we’d stayed further south and never ventured much beyond Mendocino. This time we took advantage of the easy drive to both Mendocino and Fort Bragg, as well as the lighthouse park and Glass Beach (where we collected handfuls of white, green and amber sea glass) and the Botanical Garden. It was an unforgettable getaway. We couldn’t recommend this rental more highly.

We were a little skeptic about this place due to the lack of reviews, but I have to admit we were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. The home is tastefully decorated to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. The layout of the house was perfect for our group. Each bedroom is on a separate floor, so everyone felt as though they had their own space, but we also came together in a cozy living room and kitchen area on the middle floor during the day and evenings. We were a group of 10 (4 adults, 2 teenagers, 3 adolescents and a baby under 12 months) and everyone had a bed so it didn't feel crowded and the kids didn't feel like 2nd rate citizens on the floor in sleeping bags. The Jacuzzi was heated and ready to go, the home was thoughtfully stocked with essentials (dishes, linens, board games, books, garbage bags, matches, etc.), the beds were super comfy and the kids were able to play outside in a worry-free environment. You can see deer cruising through the yard and there is even a tree house for the kids to play in! Let's not forget the fire pit that already had wood ready for us to roast marshmallows for the smores. It was a great Labor Day weekend for all of us and we would definitely stay here again. I know this review has been super positive so far (rightfully so), but I will give you a couple of things to think about... if you were a large group gathering for Christmas and wanting everyone to be together ... it would be a little difficult due to the layout. You might want a single or 2 story home with a large open living room and kitchen. The other thing to consider is if you have baby who's crawling... there are a couple flights of stairs that you want to be prepared for. All in all... this home was perfect for a large group get away and you will not be disappointed!

My family is very hard to please when it comes to vacation rentals. We have a child who is highly allergic to pet dander and trying to find a rental in this area that is not pet friendly is hard but I am so glad we came across this gem! It is the perfect set up for multi family/couples. You walk into a suite on the first floor. It's huge and has, fireplace, two sitting areas and a fabulous bathroom. The second floor has the kitchen, living room and another spacious bedroom and bathroom. The third floor has two bedrooms and another bathroom. The beds were so comfortable that we actually asked the owners where they came from. We had 4 adults and 5 children so there was more than enough space infact there was one room we never even went in. The house had plenty of dishes and cookware...anything you needed to put together a great meal. It was peaceful and quite. Lots' of games, books, puzzles and movies there to keep you occupied. We went out a few times but the kids always kept asking to go home. The front yard is spacious and we had a family game of kickball. There is a treehouse but there was some poison oak so we didn't go in. Also a hot tub outside in the back but we didn't have time to use it. We couldn't wait to tell the rest of the family about it and how we would like to make it a family tradition. I have nothing negative to say....it was a fabulous weekend and we wish we could have stayed longer.
