You will find Settle Inn on Duck Lake three hours northwest of the Twin Cities. Our spacious two bedroom year-round home sits on a private level lot only 100 feet away from the sandy beach and gentle waves of Duck Lake--a quiet 326 acre sandy bottom spring fed lake with amazing clarity and prize winning walleye, large mouth bass and crappie fishing. Located just 17 miles southeast of Park Rapids--about a 15 minute drive into town for groceries and gas. The days you spend vacationing with your family outdoors on Duck Lake are incomparable, but after a day in the sun, when you come inside for the night, you will appreciate the relaxing ambiance of the well-appointed great room and newly designed convenient kitchen. Double sliding doors facing the lake open from the great room right onto the large private deck for fresh morning and evening breezes. Each bedroom holds a queen size bed for superb sleeping and even comes equipped with a ceiling fan for a soothingly quiet night or naptime.
This summer, enjoy a day of waterskiing, tubing or fishing after launching your boat from the boat lift at the private 30 foot dock; bike or rollerblade on the Heartland Trail between Walker and Park Rapids; spend the afternoon on the beach soaking in the sunshine while watching the little ones splash in the waves or play in the sand; savor an appetizer on the sunny deck; gather around the stone fire pit on the beach to roast marshmallows while admiring the vibrant sunset.
For winter visitors, explore the hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails, cross country skiing, sleigh rides or ice fishing, then enjoy a mug of hot chocolate while watching a movie from the DVD library or reading a book perched in front of the cozy fireplace.
During your vacation week, plan a trip to Park Rapids or Walker to shop in one of the many quaint shops to search for that special “one of a kind” gift; discover the "mouth of the Mississippi" while exploring Itasca State Park; delight in a four hour tubing trip down the Shell River to Huntersville; go horseback riding, bowling or golfing; order a pizza in town and then watch a movie at the local movie house, finishing the evening with an old fashioned ice cream soda or root beer float.
Your little ones will witness the breathtaking brilliance of the stars far away from the lights of the city and hear the eerie song of the loons across the lake calling out to one another in the tranquil darkness. The satisfaction you'll feel knowing that you have provided your family with the gift of enduring memories--that's priceless.

Why the Owner Chose Park Rapids
We love the Park Rapids area and all the wonderful ways we have found to relax here--swimming, boating, waterskiing, visiting with friends and neighbors, berry picking, snowmobiling, taking in a movie, enjoying new restaurants. This region has everything we need every season of the year.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Quiet mornings are spent with coffee on the deck watching the many varieties of birds--goldfinches, bluebirds, purple martins, swallows. Afternoons down on the beach, then an after-dinner, late evening boat ride, topped off with the breathtaking sunsets from our deck. Our sandy beach is the finest on the lake and the water clarity is amazing from early spring right through fall.
Owner's Map of Park Rapids
Dana spent summers on Duck Lake playing with his cousins and meeting the scores of visitors who faithfully visited his grandparents' Fairyland Resort every year during the 1950's - 1970's. Dana's dad built our family cabin in 1948 and we have owned it since 1987. We continue to spend most weekends here from May until October every year and have enjoyed 25+ years of towing our three kids waterskiing and tubing behind our boat, and look forward to continuing the tradition with our grandchildren. We bought this second lake home in 2002 when it became available.
