At Casa Carolina in the Wine Country, (aka Villa Sonoma) you can relax! Imagine yourself in the center of Sonoma, at the Casa in Sonoma, but without all the traffic and people coming and going at all hours. Yet, at the end of the street is the walking/bike path where you can walk 2 minutes to historic General Vallejo’s Lachrymontis, 5 minute walk to the Field of Dreams to hear Sonoma Jazz and local bands, or a 7 minute walk to the historic Sonoma Plaza to see films at the delightful Sebastiani Theater. Starbucks is a 5 minute walk and Safeway or Whole Foods only 2 and 3 blocks away. A 5 block walk takes you to Parkpoint Athletic Club where you can exercise or swim. There is also swimming about a 10 minute drive to Aqua Caliente Pools or a 15 minute Drive to the historic Morton Warm Springs Pools.
Casa Carolina is a two-story newly remodeled 4-bedroom (2 Master Suites, so it is also great for 2 couples) 3-bath home in the center of Sonoma with a large one-car garage, as well as off-street parking. Three bedrooms have ultra queen beds with luxurious linens for your comfort. The fourth bedroom has a full bed and old-fashioned twin bunk beds. There are 2 master suites, one upstairs and one downstairs. Villa Sonoma is on a quiet neighborhood street, one block long. It has a covered front porch made of flagstone. See yourself relaxing on this front porch with coffee, fruit from Farmer's Market and Sonoma cheeses. Watch the sun rising over the mountains in front of you. Or sit in the large private fenced backyard … a great place for afternoon wine, famous cheeses and fresh Basque bread.
The spacious, serene settings in the center of town mingle with nature all day. …vacation time can be filled with a variety of activities: playing at the neighborhood parks, strolling through meadows full of blooming flowers, visiting historic buildings, wineries and champagne caves, riding trains at Train Town, renting a bike down the street, attending jazz, film and art events at the historic town plaza and various restaurants, hiking historic trails and lodges. Best of all, meet the friendly faces of the local community…also a secret jewel, at the open markets, in the boutiques, at the museums and festivals, or at our refurbished Sebastiani Theater.
Imagine yourself after a full day of hiking, shopping, sightseeing, or biking... sitting upstairs on the covered balcony watching a herd of deer cross the Mayacamas Mountains or settle into the quiet backyard with a glass of wine. Later walk to one of the many restaurants near Casa Carolina or just BBQ in your own private backyard. Enjoy yourself!!

Location could not have been better. We were able to walk to the square for food and tastings and to grocery stores for making dinner at home. The house was very spacious with ample room to sleep 10. Caroline was an excellent host--she was great with our reservation and very responsive when we arrived. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is that it was not ready upon arrival. There was an emergency and the cleaning crew had not completed the cleaning. Caroline was extremely responsive and got the issue fixed immediately. We went wine tasting and by the time we were back, all was well. There was even two bottles of wine sitting on the counter waiting for us. I would highly recommend staying at Villa Sonoma.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

I just got back from a great girls weekend at the Villa Sonoma. The house was great. So close to town and it was great having our own rooms. I can't wait to return. I see lots of visits to the Villa Sonoma in my future.Recommended for: Girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

My family had a wedding to attend, with the reception near the square, and we needed a place for four adults and one toddler. Enter Villa Sonoma. The location was perfect for our needs, even allowing for a walk back from the reception site. We had more than enough room, including a full bedroom we didn't even go into. Caroline, the owner, is exceptionally responsive and kind, which made staying in her home something we looked forward to. All in all, a great experience.Did you find this review helpful? We came back for our second stay at Villa Sonoma, and are so glad that we did. Perfect for our group (grandma and grandpa got the super nice master suite upstairs, while mom and dad and two kids stayed downstairs in three older but still super clean and spacious bedrooms). Easy walk to three grocery stores, and nice short walk to the square - and less than a block to a good park off the bike path. The home was in good repair, clean and maintained, and the neighbors were quiet so the stay was great. We loved using Villa Sonoma as our home base for a week! The owner is an exceptionally easy person with whom to work. She is very responsive to email, and also called us shortly after we arrived just to make sure that everything was ok with the house (it was).Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

I was in a group of 8 friends that stayed at Villa Sonoma for a girls/bachelorette weekend. The house was exactly what we needed/wanted. There was plenty of space, with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths, and was an easy walk to grocery store and center of town. The weather was beautiful during our stay, so we spent lots of time hanging out on the back patio, which was perfect. I would definitely recommend this house to groups looking for a reasonably priced option right in town!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

We stayed in early October with our extended family of 10 and loved the house. The place is very clean, well organized and nicely decorated. We had a wonderful family gathering. Made a wonderful dinner in the kitchen where all the supplies, utensils and dishes we needed were available. There was plenty of room to move about and relax in the open living room and we also had time to relax in the private backyard under the umbrella. The house was close to town, which was great for walking into town, dinner and wine tasting. We never used our car once we arrived. It was an enjoyable, relaxing stay and everything we needed was there. Love Sonoma!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

I stayed at this house recently as a guest with other people. The pictures of this house are very misleading. The entire property is old, outdated and is a mess. The furnishings look like goodwill mismatches that are throwbacks from the '70's and are terribly uncomfortable and falling apart. The kitchen supplies are dirty and mismatched. So much for setting a nice table for dinner. There is not a complete set of anything in this kitchen. The back yard was ugly and harsh. Lava rock landscaping is not my idea of a relaxing weekend in Sonoma. The hot water did not work in one of the bathrooms therefore we had to double up in the other side of the house. I would have stayed somewhere else if I had not been with other people. Do not stay at this house. It is in a residential neighborhood that is not kept up and there is a major street right next to the house, very noisy. This home should not be available to anyone. It is awful.Owner response: I try to make my guests' stay very comfortable. The hot water in one of the bathrooms is a concern to me. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I will get that fixed as soon as possible. (Post script: there always was hot water, unfortunately the plumber must have crossed the lines so the hot is on the right and the cold is on the left (reverse of what is usual.)) All of the beds and linens are brand new with high-end 600-thread count. The living room 2 sofas and the dark overstuffed recliner are all brand new. Some other furnishings were added. The house is thoroughly cleaned after every guest leaves. The kitchen has a new set of Italian tableware with service for 10, and we have added extra pieces as well for convenience. Our tall fence and many trees in the backyard and side yard keep most traffic noise buffered.

The house was in the perfect location and was neat and tidy. The owner was very easy to get a hold of and was available for any questions we had. Booking the place for the weekend was a breeze. There was plenty of space for the 5 of us, and we could definitely have had another couple with us.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

Villa Sonoma is a fabulous getaway near Sonoma Plaza. The house is well kept, very clean and spacious. All the bedrooms are as described, comfortable beds and nice linens. We were a group of about 10 adults and did not feel cramped at all. The two master suites were very nice and three bathrooms made it conveneint for all. The owner was very pleasant and easy to work with, available to answer questions any time. I would highly recommend this property for a family getaway or a group gathering- it met all our needs.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

The Villa Sonoma was comfortable, well kept and well located. We had eight adults staying there, and it was perhaps a tad small in terms of the dining room table and one bedroom containing both bunk beds and a double bed, but definitely adequate for our seldom in the house weekend. Caroline, the owner, was very helpful. Hit the farmers' market on Tuesday or Friday--great produce. The backyard barbecue and patio table are an inviting alternative to restaurants. The Sonoma Market (within walking distance) has very good meat, fish, and produce if the farmers' market isn't possible.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.
