About this property
Ken's Place - Peace & Quiet & Private
No matter what part of the world you come from you to can enjoy and experience what it was like to be a real cowboy and Native American who roamed this land right here in Williams, Arizona, the Gateway to the Grand Canyon, established in 1881. To feel what it was like for them, to see what they saw through their eyes, all you have to do is sit around the fire pit and look up at the stars. Ken's Place will take you there.
If you are looking for something away from it all but not back in the hills over pot holed roads miles from the 64, then this is it. Ken's Place is conveniently located one block off the 64 highway near Hoctor and Red Lake road. The house sits on a beautifully landscaped, gated 1.16 acre corner lot full of pinyon trees, rock gardens, a gazebo, BBQ, patio set, and outdoor fire pit perfect to sit out and star gaze.
The home is 1800 sf with dining room, kitchen, breakfast area with all new appliances, den with pool table and plenty of space to accommodate 10. Check out the tribute to the 60's in the den. A mural made up of Life magazines that tells the story of that turbulent decade. I call Life as Art.
The house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, with plenty of large towels, and laminate floors throughout. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a private bath. The middle bedroom is furnished with a double bed. And the bedroom off the den has two bunk beds with one lower bunk as a double. The den is furnished with a futon.
The home is ideal for entertaining large groups. The living room accommodates 8 comfortably on two couches and a love seat complete with a 55 inch Samsung Smart TV with Direct TV and Netflix provided. All streaming services available with your log in. The dining room seats 6 with 4 in the breakfast nook. The kitchen is spacious with new appliances, fully stocked with cook wear and kitchen items such as two coffee makers, one with basket filter and the other single serve, toaster, blender, electric can opener, general spices/cooking oil, crock pot, and convection oven. The den is the main attraction with the Brunswick regulation pool table. The house has central heating with a window mounted A/C. All rooms are equipped with ceiling fans.
Outside offers a gazebo with a stainless steal 4-burner BBQ with searing burner for those steaks, and a rock fire pit. If sleeping ten isn't enough, bring your RV and hook it up to property provided water, electric, and septic, at no extra charge. Please notify in advance you will be bringing an RV.
The home is located approximately 8 miles from historic Williams, Arizona, The Gateway to the Grand Canyon, on the world famous Route 66, ride the Zipline, it looks safe, kind of; just down the street from Bearizona Wildlife Park; and approximately 45 minutes to the South Rim entrance. Williams is conveniently located just 30 minutes from Flagstaff. On your way to Flagstaff, stop off and visit Grand Canyon Go-Karts right off the 40 freeway, and 7 minutes further down is the Deer Farm and Petting Zoo. You might want to check out an outstanding scenic 90 minute drive to the beautiful red rocks of Sedona, Arizona. No need to stop off for travel those brochures plenty are provided for you in the home.
Weather is generally moderate during the summer months, with monsoons in the later summer months, and very cold with snow in the winter. Check in time is 3:00 pm, but earlier check in may be arranged with the owner. Check out time is 10:00 am.

About the host
Hosted by William Schleicher

My name is Bill (William), my caretaker's name is Nathalie, and the property is named Ken's Place. I have received many inquiries about why the property is called Ken's Place. Here is the back story.
At the time Ken was an 86 year old former marine, when I came to his home for a windows appointment. I was new to the area. I had been to downtown Williams but this was the first time I had gone the opposite direction up the 64 highway toward the Grand Canyon.
Ken was outside waiting for me. It was May and everything was green. When I got out of my car I said, "It's really nice out here." Ken's reply was, "You wanna buy it?" One thing led to another and I did. All of the rocks you see placed around the property were placed there by Ken. When it came time to close, I was going to borrow from my 401k for the down but was told by my company that I had to wait 90 days before I could withdraw my funds. I had to call Ken to tell him the situation, and that I understood if he wanted to cancel the deal and find another buyer. He said, "Bill do you want me to lend you $10,000?" He didn't know me. But he said he did. He lent me the money, we closed, and I paid him back.
So, why is it called Ken's Place: honor those who help you get there.
