Luxury in the middle of the rain forest

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights in this breath-taking beautiful luxury home. From the moment we arrived I was in love with the emaculently Kept house. The house was set on a breath taking landscape over looking the ocean. Each room was remarkably decorated with elegance and taste. The Kitchen was fully equipped with high quality dish wear that felt like we were in a 5 star resort. I want to come back to this paradise again very soon. You won't be disappointed.

Gorgeous house; incredible views!

  • 5 of 5

The house was everything and more than you can expect. Very comfortable. It was fabulous to have 4 en-suites so everyone had privacy. The pool was perfect. The view - well - it's not possible to describe in words it must be seen. It was breathtaking. The weather was ideal. The little village of Domincal was close and the people very friendly. We took our kids surfing, horseback riding and tree swinging and all the instructors were great. There is so much to do and we couldn't do it all. You definitely need a 4 x 4 just to get up to the house! The night we got in was dark and the road up to the house was quite an experience. Within a day or two we were experts but just be prepared it is rather daunting the first time you drive up that road through the jungle. But once you get to the house it is all worth it. Would definitely go back and rent this house. Thank you Tom for all of your help and great suggestions! Nancy

Where do you live?

Property's Quality Was Matched By AMAZING Owner and Property Manager

  • 5 of 5

This is not our ordinary VRBO stay. In fact, I rarely write reviews though I value them greatly; I need to be better!

All that said, we are from the western US and had a trip planned to Dominical, Costa Rica. The Thursday before our scheduled departure (just 3 days), I received a troubling phone call that due to unforeseen circumstances, our original property would no longer be available. We went into panic mode and decided we didn't need to be RIGHT ON the beach. So we opened our search up to those homes NEARBY the beach. This was the BEST BAD NEWS OF ALL TIME!

We emailed Bruce to inquire about availbility. Sparing you the details, him and his property manager Tom, bent over backwards to arrange all of our details. Tom checked on us regular while we were there. Bruce checked on us via email and wanted to make sure we had all we needed.

And that was just the manager side. This property is BREATHTAKING!! The jungle, the ocean, the pool, the home itself --- we use VRBO frequently, travel a fair amount --- and the combination of it all is UNSURPASSED BY ANYPLACE WE'VE EVER BEEN!

As long as one understands a few things:

1 - This is the jungle, there will be bugs and geckos and things. Nothing to even worry over as long as you know they come with the territory.

2 - Houses need repairs sometimes - the AC unit went out while we were there -- which underscores the AWESOME managers -- they had it fixed PROMPTLY!!!

3 - You will not have WalMarts, or Costcos, or even a neighborhood market that you're accustomed to. That's what we wanted, though. Crowded little non-ac shops. Side of the road fruit trucks, etc.

4 - The drive up to the house is an adventure in and of itself! It's literally only 5 minutes up the dirt road -- but it is UP THE DIRT ROAD! My kids liked it better than the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland! All part of the experience:)

Summary - I wish I could give this a 10-star review. Our absolute favorite family vacation in 18 years of marriage and raising a family!!!

luxury in the jungle

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time in the jungle villa. It's beautiful and luxurious. The infinity pool was just the right size for our two families. The big kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. We're grateful for the hint to buy the produce in Herradura supermarket by the lighthouse, there is nothing like this around the house if you're planning to cook there. Over the 5 days in the house we got to see toucans, humming birds, wild black pigs, and once even an anteater. We saw plenty of monkeys and sloths in neighboring Hacienda Baru, which is just across the road from the villa, so no problem there. Tom was amazing, very helpful with any problems that needed fixing and extremely generous with his time. He showed us around the community - it has two waterfalls right there! The only minor suggestion I would have is to have a hairdryer in the house. We couldn't find one, but maybe we missed it. Thank you so much again for all your hospitality!

Costa Rica

Sublime experience and setting

  • 5 of 5

I have lived and worked in Costa Rica for 20 years and while this country is stunningly beautiful it is rare to find properties which combine, luxury, tranquility, and a setting which celebrates all the natural beauty without sacrificing luxury. Villa Toucan Breeze give you the best of both worlds. The setting in the unique Guapil Tropical Estate community gives you a convenient location which is close to the communities of Dominical, Hatillo and Manuel Antonio but a world apart. You drive through the rainforest up to the home, which appears like an oasis of luxury in the middle of the rainforest. The views are never ending, from Cano Island up to Manuel Antonio. There are amazing breezes at the house and we had daily visits from the toucans, Pizotes, white faced monkeys, and a host of other creatures and birds you would need a biologist to identify!

The house itself is spacious, perfectly equipped and was awesome. I was there with my family of 4, inlays and another family. there are effectively 4 master suites, so everyone has their space and privacy. the kitchen has everything you need and while restaurants are nearby, we just relaxed, cooked and let time slip by. The enormous pool and landscaped gardens had us outside from dawn until well into the evening, just enjoying the breezes, views and wildlife.

The pictures represented on the vrbo site are truly what you get. 4 couples had a fabulous time in this beautiful home. Great pool, we had early morning coffee looking at our gorgeous view and listening to the waves crash below on the beach. Note you can't walk from the house to the beach, it will require a drive but five minutes top. We saw animals galore, even a sloth due to our wonderful caretaker Tom. We loved the privacy of the home - no home has views to another home. If you're an adventure seeker, or just want to lay back - this is the place. Definately need the 4x4 to get to this place but worth the trek.
