About Libby Cameron

Our grandparents built the house in 1904. The entire family would come for the summer and my grandmother would stay until November for the duck shooting season, the house has 2 fireplaces but it must have been very cold as it is simply a summer cottage. The 4th generation is now using the house.

Libby Cameron purchased this house in 1904

What makes this house unique

Amazing views, seclusion, cozy, colorful, comfy and spacious house, built on the edge of a ledge within 12' of the water. The sea lulls you to sleep every night.

Our family has multiple dogs-7 labradors so an enclosed area off the kitchen has just been built with a covered area for when we go out for the day so they don't destroy the house.

Comfort With a View

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the easy comfort of the home and facilities. We all enjoyed our stay and the convenience of being close to activities and shopping. There was an absence of a few essentials such as bathroom tissue (just the roll that was in each bathroom), paper towels and no facial tissue at all, along with no hair driers or bar soap, which I expected would be in a home where we just bring in groceries. It would be great if there was a ceiling light over the dining room table to make family dining bright as the room in the evening is dark. I did hate to see the week end and would love to return as it was a terrific stay.

As you walk down the crushed shell path toward the house, your ideal Maine Vacation is now in view!

  • 4 of 5

Our parents had just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past year and Dad wanted to have a family vacation one more time with Mom and the kids somewhere special before we all get to old to travel. Dad is 83, Mom is 81, and us 6 kids range from age 60 to 50! Dad planned the whole trip himself down to the smallest details. So after months of anticipation, Mom and Dad, us six children and our spouses are all packed up and heading to Boothbay Harbor, ME. Thankfully, not all of us left from our homes in NJ & PA at the same time or day, so luckily our arrivals were staggered from hours to a few days. Their was parking for all of our 6 vehicles at the property by the 2 car garage across the road from a pathway that leads to the house. My wife and I, and one of my brothers and his wife were designated by Dad to arrive first and get things sorted out and prepared for everyone else coming later that day. The house was already accessible since the caretaker had just been there before us to open up windows and leave on some lights. It was hard to keep ourselves on task of unpacking and prepping for everyone else's arrival while in such a lovely home with so many picturesque views! My parents wanted the upstairs master bedroom with twin beds and the bath, while my brother an his wife took the other upstairs bedroom with adjoining bath overlooking the beautiful cove and waterview! My wife and I choose the only bedroom on the main floor which we felt suited us well and also had an adjoining bath. Mom and Dad soon arrived and we helped them settle in. There is a good sized wagon in the yard that we used daily to bring in our luggage as well as grocery bags. The kitchen was very well stocked with all of the basics you would need to prepare and serve meals. The dining area was ample for most all of us to eat at the table as we soon found out when everyone else finally arrived over the next 24 hours. Some of us elected to take our meals out on the enclosed porch overlooking the ocean. There were enough bedrooms and beds for all twelve of us to sleep comfortably. Early risers would be up having coffee and breakfast on the deck or screened in porch watching the lobstermen maneuvering their boats in the cove before us and hauling in their traps while the waves lap the rocks below! The evenings were spent in the family room with a crackling fire while we read, talked, and competed in our family Scrabble Tournament! Southport Island was truly amazing! KCS

everything was great . amenities were very good . bedroom size and the baths off each bedroom were great. The large living area and the large round table were superb. It was cold the first day and night but the fireplace took care of that. The camp was well supplied with what you need. The proximity to Boothbay harbor and other places on the island were great. We really relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. Thank you to Libby Cameron !

We thoroughly enjoyed this home. Beautiful location and comfortable and charming house. Wood burning fireplace made it warm and cozy for this time of year. We would love to visit again.

Beautiful Coastal Maine Home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful waterfront home this month and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! This home can accommodate a large family or group, with plenty of bedrooms, a large kitchen area for cooking and everyone congregating, plenty of living room space and the deck for outdoor meals is just spectacular! The views from this home just relax you from the moment you arrive! Southport Island is a truly special place and Boothbay Harbor is a charming Maine town with plenty to do and see. Check out the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens -- simply breathtaking and the Boothbay Harbor Land Trust for lots of walking/hiking options. A big thank you!

Perfect Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house last week with my parents and siblings and their families. It was a perfect home to accommodate our large group, not only because of the adequate number of bedrooms and bathrooms, but also because of the exceptionally large amount of "common room" space and the huge round dining room table that allowed all 11 of us to enjoy meals together. The home is beautifully decorated, lots of attention to detail, but also feels homey. The kitchen has absolutely everything needed. Having all linens and beach towels included is unusual in my experience, but made packing much easier, as did having a washer and dryer in the house. But really, even if the house wasn't as lovely, a visit would be worth it for the view from the deck and screened in porch overlooking the ocean. From coffee first thing in the morning, to a glass of wine as the moon reflected on water, it just couldn't have been more beautiful. We also enjoyed watching lobstermen/women pull in their traps right from our deck. Southport Island is a favorite vacation destination for our family, and this house was the perfect place to stay while there.
