## Emplacement
Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer is a town in the Var, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, located on the homonymous peninsula that is connected to the mainland by the isthmus of Les Sablettes. It is located about fifteen kilometers south of Toulon which "closes" in part the dock. The town was officially created in 1950. Until then, the village depended on La Seyne-sur-Mer.
Originally made up of islets, the territory became one and the same island in the Middle Ages, the island of Sépet, then connected to the mainland in the seventeenth century. The history of Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer is intimately linked to that of the nearby naval military base of Toulon. First with the installation of an infirmary and then a military hospital, then a fort and batteries for defensive purposes and finally a lighthouse. Even today, the national navy occupies three-quarters of the municipal territory with a naval training center, a diving base and a school for mechanics.
From a civil point of view, once turned to agriculture, the activity has focused on tourism, with the creation of a marina and the preservation of a quality coastal environment where beaches and pine forests are appreciated. The city, which has some 5,800 inhabitants, also demonstrates a certain cultural dynamism. It is therefore a legitimately reputable resort.
