|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Step back into yesteryear, but with all the modern conveniences of today in this quaint log cabin nestled amid the Nantahala National Forest. This cabin is so cute you won't ever want to leave! The back yard is totally private with a pond and soothing waterfall to rest and unwind with. It is conveniently located right in the middle of Cashiers and Highlands. Shop till you drop for anything you could imagine, and dine with the best! Or stay back at the cabin and cook in your fully equipped modernized kitchen after a day of hiking or visiting waterfalls.
There are two bedrooms (both upstairs, and the bathroom is downstairs, and the stairs are steeper and narrower than normal....so if you any health problems or problems with stairs, this may not be ideal for you....we want our cabin to be a perfect fit for everyone!) The master bedroom has a wonderful king size bed and the second bedroom has an equally comfy queen size bed. (We are fanatics when it comes to sleeping well on vacation! Comfort is very important to us, as well as the comfort of our guests!) There is a wonderful Lane double reclining sofa and matching 'bubba' recliner in the living room for a total meltdown after your busy day.
Relax by the firepit!
Be sure to pack marshmallows to enjoy in the evening by the firepit! You can also eat dinner out on the covered back porch. Both porches are covered....the front porch has a porch swing and rockers, and the back porch has big old comfy chairs and a dining set. There is also a hammock in the totally private back yard, along with Adirondack chairs. So, pick your spot and settle in!
If you are a nature lover or a hiker, you will absolutely love it here. We are less than two miles from the trail head of the Ellicott Rock Wilderness Area of the Nantahala National Forest and we are a mile and a half from the Chattooga River, made famous in the movie 'Deliverance'.
The cabin is also a short drive (about an hour) from Franklin, Bryson City and Cherokee. And you're about an hour and a half from Asheville. What are you waiting for! I promise you'll love it and come back again and again!
This area of Western North Carolina is truly breathtakingly beautiful. From the many, many waterfalls, overlooks, rivers and streams, the area is one of the most popular around. There is so much to do and see. Lake Glenville has all kinds of boats to rent and watersports to partake in.....there is watertubing in Sapphire in the summer, and skiing in the winter. Horseback riding, hiking, fishing, rafting, great restaurants, golf, and unbelievable shopping!
Whew! I'm sure I've missed something!
Scott and I have three grown children, two beautiful grandchildren, and we live in the lowcountry of South Carolina. We have furniture/bedding stores and stay on top of design, comfort and quality. We've had rental properties for over 20 years and that's how we travel, personally. We love staying in homes rather than the sterility of a hotel room. We are very picky in choosing where we stay....so we make sure our rental homes are top notch! (Check out our previous guest comments....we get rave reviews! ALWAYS check out previous guest comments before you rent...it tells volumes! Also be sure to check out how current they are.)
We do our very best to make our rentals five star vacation destinations and we love our renters!
We love the mountains, and there is no better mountain destination than Cashiers/Highlands! Our little slice of heaven is ideally located between both, nestled in the heart of the Nantahala National Forest. We're priced excellently and offer pure comfort in a rustic setting. Just the experience you're looking for! Come visit us!
MJ Hennesy purchased this cabin in 2006
Sometimes you just find a 'spot' unlike any other you've ever found. That is the case with our cabin. Many, many renters have said it also. You are transported to another time, where peace and tranquility reined! My spine unfurls the moment we arrive and yours will too!
There are so many unique things about our little cabin...sitting on the back porch (or front porch) in the morning, enjoying your cup of coffee! Sitting around the bonfire at night listening to the waterfall, and the sounds of the forest, just visiting. Laying in the hammock at night, with the porch lights off, looking up at the sky and feeling like you're at the planetarium with all the stars just out of your reach! There are times when I just need the mountains and our little cabin.
'The mountains are calling, and I must go.'
Perfect cabin for mountain getaway!
Enjoyed the firepit in the evenings.
Once again our family of four enjoyed Thanksgiving weekend at this precious cabin! We enjoy all the hiking, shopping, and dining around the area, but most of all we enjoy the family time at the cabin. Somewhere we all unplug and enjoy the fire and board games together. It is always stocked with everything we need! Thanks MJ!
Every year my wife and I give each other a small trip for Christmas. We love to get a way in secluded mountain cabins. This year ranked right up there with the best. MJ's cabin was just as described!! Secluded, quiet, and beautiful. We had a great time and look forward to coming back. Nice big fireplace and plenty of wood was supplied. We did the shopping thing in the Highlands but spent most of our time at the cabin watching college football and cooking our favorite meals. If you want seclusion but still want to be close enough to go out for a great meal, you can't go wrong with this cabin. Loved it!! Thanks MJ.

This is my favorite place in cashiers to visit! MJ was a great host. The cabin was clean and cozy. It is close to town and hiking! It is truly a magical place!!
We had a wonderful time in the cozy log cabin. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with everything you could need, including various seasonings and oils. I really enjoyed sitting on the back porch listening to the waterfall that had been built into the hill behind the cabin. During our 5 night stay we only saw 3 or 4 other cars. We had a wonderful time.
My wife and I spent 4 days recently while house hunting in the area which can be exhausting. It was so nice to relax at the end of the day with a nice glass of wine and your choice of a fire either inside or in the outside fire pit. We bought firewood in Cashiers not knowing that MJ provides split wood for a low price of $5 a day. What else can I say except it is a great value and you will not be disappointed.
