Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Step back into yesteryear, but with all the modern conveniences of today in this quaint log cabin nestled amid the Nantahala National Forest. This cabin is so cute you won't ever want to leave! The back yard is totally private with a pond and soothing waterfall to rest and unwind with. It is conveniently located right in the middle of Cashiers and Highlands. Shop till you drop for anything you could imagine, and dine with the best! Or stay back at the cabin and cook in your fully equipped modernized kitchen after a day of hiking or visiting waterfalls.

There are two bedrooms (both upstairs, and the bathroom is downstairs, and the stairs are steeper and narrower than normal....so if you any health problems or problems with stairs, this may not be ideal for you....we want our cabin to be a perfect fit for everyone!) It is also 5 miles off the main road...and the road is half paved and half gravel. And then another 4 miles into town. Easy drive, no cliffs or anything like that.

The master bedroom has the wonderful Marriott king size bed and the second bedroom has the same comfy queen size Marriott bed. (We are fanatics when it comes to sleeping well on vacation! Comfort is very important to us, as well as the comfort of our guests!) There is a wonderful Lane double reclining sofa and matching 'bubba' recliner in the living room for a total meltdown after your busy day.

Relax by the firepit!

Be sure to pack marshmallows to enjoy in the evening by the firepit! You can also eat dinner out on the covered back porch. Both porches are covered....the front porch has a porch swing and rockers, and the back porch has big old comfy chairs and a dining set. There is also a hammock in the totally private back yard, along with Adirondack chairs. So, pick your spot and settle in!

If you are a nature lover or a hiker, you will absolutely love it here. We are less than two miles from the trail head of the Ellicott Rock Wilderness Area of the Nantahala National Forest and we are a mile and a half from the Chattooga River, made famous in the movie 'Deliverance'.

The cabin is also a short drive (about an hour) from Franklin, Bryson City and Cherokee. And you're about an hour and a half from Asheville. What are you waiting for! I promise you'll love it and come back again and again!

Area Description

This area of Western North Carolina is truly breathtakingly beautiful. From the many, many waterfalls, overlooks, rivers and streams, the area is one of the most popular around. There is so much to do and see. Lake Glenville has all kinds of boats to rent and watersports to partake in.....there is watertubing in Sapphire in the summer, and skiing in the winter. Horseback riding, hiking, fishing, rafting, great restaurants, golf, and unbelievable shopping!

Whew! I'm sure I've missed something!

About MJ Hennesy

Scott and I have three grown children, two beautiful grandchildren, and we live in the lowcountry of South Carolina. We have furniture/bedding stores and stay on top of design, comfort and quality. We've had rental properties for over 20 years and that's how we travel, personally. We love staying in homes rather than the sterility of a hotel room. We are very picky in choosing where we stay....so we make sure our rental homes are top notch! (Check out our previous guest comments....we get rave reviews! ALWAYS check out previous guest comments before you rent...it tells volumes! Also be sure to check out how current they are.)

We do our very best to make our rentals five star vacation destinations and we love our renters!

We love the mountains, and there is no better mountain destination than Cashiers/Highlands! Our little slice of heaven is ideally located between both, nestled in the heart of the Nantahala National Forest. We're priced excellently and offer pure comfort in a rustic setting. Just the experience you're looking for! Come visit us!

Why MJ Hennesy chose Smoky Mountains

Sometimes you just find a 'spot' unlike any other you've ever found. That is the case with our cabin. Many, many renters have said it also. You are transported to another time, where peace and tranquility reined! My spine unfurls the moment we arrive and yours will too!

What makes this cabin unique

There are so many unique things about our little cabin...sitting on the back porch (or front porch) in the morning, enjoying your cup of coffee! Sitting around the bonfire at night listening to the waterfall, and the sounds of the forest, just visiting. Laying in the hammock at night, with the porch lights off, looking up at the sky and feeling like you're at the planetarium with all the stars just out of your reach! There are times when I just need the mountains and our little cabin.

'The mountains are calling, and I must go.'

Peaceful, Relaxing, Charming, Comfortable Cozy Cabin in the Woods. Love the Waterfall.

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely wonderful! My husband and I spent two peaceful days chilling out listening to the babbling waterfall, sitting around the fire pit. The cabin had multiple areas to read, sleep, enjoy nature, just take a break from the outside world. Cabin was perfectly stocked for guests' enjoyment. Beautifully decorated. The mattress was awesome, very comfortable. The best VRBO cabin I've ever stayed in.

Great get away

  • 5 of 5

The cabin and property are idyllic. Removed from hustle and bustle, the cabin is conveniently secluded. The space is sufficiently appointed. The small pond and waterfall out back make a great location for a relaxing evening or morning. We had a short but great time. MJ is a very hospitable host.

A little out of the way but perfect for a couple.

  • 4 of 5

A quaint little cabin. Well built and nicely stocked. Be warned...very steep stairs. Bathroom downstairs and bedrooms upstairs so that was a bit of a pain...only reason not giving five stars.

The owner was just a nice as can be.

We hiked all day and enjoyed coming home to this cabin each late afternoon.

Owner's Response: I'm so sorry to hear that! A simple error on my cleaning people's part that could have been rectified by a phone call. I always ask every renter to call me when they arrive, after they've settled in and read our info book on the coffee table. You chose to email me, which is fine, but your exact email was "Great, thank you, we are here and all is good." And I never heard again from you. I am very responsive to our renters and answer my phone and emails immediately. More toilet paper was in the basement...like I said, probably an oversight on our cleaner's part. As for the distance from town, (9 miles), it is on our website and in our communications to you. We truly want our cabin to be a good fit for everyone who rents it. We even give early check in and check out whenever possible....as was offered to you as well. All I can say is this: we have 77 5 star reviews (and every one of them think the cabin is well equipped)....I'm sorry you chose to inform us this way, instead of calling when you first got there, when we could have done something about it. Next time you rent from someone, my suggestion would be to be in contact with the owners. Have a good summer, MJ
