Terracotta laden 12th century villa in the ancient village of Saint Vito of Ortimino, is just six kilometers from the town of Montespertoli; in an unspoiled, laid-back region of the Chianti countryside. Seasonal festivals celebrating the local truffles, the grape harvest and fresh pressed olive oil are magnificent to experience. Renaissance Florence, just 35 kilometers northeast, is available by scheduled buses; or short drives while nearby hill towns include Siena, San Gimignano, Certaldo and Vinci.

This charming, completely restored sacristy with its landscaped fauna and rose gardens, part of a larger borgo is in a secure gated community which lies on top of a beautiful Tuscan hillside, with sweeping panoramic views of this exquisite countryside dotted with olive groves, vineyards and cypress trees. A hill top walk surrounding the submerged valley before stopping at the Panchetti bakery for a warm loaf of bread is a must!

The inviting first floor living area with its hewn post and beam construction is nicely decorated with warm colors that reflect the local landscape, comfortable modern furniture and a sculpted stone fireplace. Satellite TV offers world wide coverage and films in multiple languages. The gourmet eat-in kitchen with its hand-crafted walnut cabinetry, travertine countertops, high-tech stainless appliances and professional cookery encourage all epicureans and not to try a hand at Tuscan cooking. How can you resist the smell of the fresh basil, rosemary and sage that emanate from the garden? The antique communal harvest table will draw in your guests…Mangia, anyone?

On the second floor, Casa Alina offers two spacious antiquated and bedrooms featuring hand-forged iron beds and new, luxurious king/queen sized bedding with pressed hotel style linens. A comfortable pull-out couch in the living area can accommodate a fifth guest. A third bedroom is on the third floor has a double bed. You are sure to get a great night’s rest after a tough day in one of the most beautiful places on earth---

Casa Alina caters to an American and Canadien clientele. We know what you want in a beautiful rental. Casa Alina delivers. We have Wi-Fi, CNN, central air, modern appliances and screens on all doors and windows.

About Kimberly Pucci

Kimberly and Alessio Pucci are the owners of Casa Alina, a villa in a restored hamlet that they purchased after living in the heart of Renaissance Florence for more than ten years. The couple was looking for a quiet place in the unspoiled Tuscan countryside to raise a family that was within a short drive to Florence. Kimberly, an American, studied in Florence and then began her career in the Italian jewelry business as a buyer for the Piccini family on the Ponte Vecchio. Alessio, a Tuscan native, earned a double Phd. at the University of Pisa in Structural Engineering and Architecture. Casa Alina is named after the couple's first child, Alina, who was born in Florence in 2004. They have since moved to Rhode Island where Kimberly works in luxury goods. Alessio is a partner at Paul Weber, an architectural firm in Newport. The family welcomed a new baby, Niccolo', in the Fall of 2009. Casa Alina has become their retreat from their hectic lives in the US!

Tuscan Countryside

  • 5 of 5

Casa Alina, located on the outskirts of the small town of Montespertoli, is a hidden gem. A private home in a cluster of several other homes, the setting is lovely with serene garden space in both the front and the back. Private parking is also available. Renting a car in Florence is easy and the drive to Casa Alina is less than an hour.

Beautifully decorated with a mix of antiques and modern pieces, the first floor of the home has a comfortable sitting area, a well-equipped kitchen, a full bathroom, and laundry facilities.

Two very comfortable and spacious bedrooms and a large hall bathroom take up the second floor. The third floor, a loft or attic space, serves as a tiny third bedroom.

Excellent home-cooked meals can be arranged through Laura or you can try some of the local restaurants. Artevino was an especially good choice for a delicious dinner and Pizzeria Ristorante Il Mundo degli Gnomi was a great casual choice. The town square was a fun place to wander and explore, and the local Co-Op grocery store has all the necessary food and supplies to support your stay.

Casa Alina is also the perfect jumping-off spot for visiting the many little towns in the area. It's also very close to Castello Sonnino, a local winery, which offers tours along with relaxing meals overlooking the vineyards.

Kimberly is very helpful throughout the booking process as well as a great resource for local activities.

In short, Casa Alina was a delightful place to stay - the perfect home away from home.

The Cooking Lesson With Benedetta Was An Amazing Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Dear Pucci Family,

We had a fantastic stay at Casa Alina. We arrived to the warm welcome of Laura and Roberto, who greeted us with kindness and a full Italian dinner cooked by Laura!

The house is amazing, spacious and elegant. We enjoyed the local town of Montespertoli and our adventures in Florence. We really appreciated Certaldo's old center.

We had the most amazing experience with Benedetta who offered us a cooking lesson, complete with Caprese salad, Lasagne, Chicken Cacciatore, Tiramisu, bread and wine. Definitely a MUST do!

Our family had a splendid time. Thank you so very much.

Fabulous in February!

  • 5 of 5

On a dreary day in February, my sister and I arrived to find this hidden (literally –keep your eyes peeled for the sign Via Ortimino) gem nestled amongst the Tuscan hills, very conveniently located in the Montespertoli region. Upon our arrival we were met by Laura and husband Robert with arms loaded full of amazing lunch goodies! Little did we know how fond we would become of Laura’s amazing meals – including breakfast baskets stuffed to the rim with fresh eggs, yogourt, coffee, fruit and croissants. The villa is beautifully decorated with comfortable furnishings, including the most amazing wrought iron beds with sheets that made it hard to climb out of bed each day in spite of the draw of Florence (30 min drive or train ride), of Lucca, of MONTECATINI Terme (amazing hot springs/spa), of Siena and so many neat little towns. Casa Alina is spotless, roomy and an oasis of comfort – we loved our 3 weeks there! Only thing we ‘missed’ was a full-size coffee maker however we did have fun with the traditional coffee brewer. We came to Italy from Canada and so expected to not find it as chilly as we did; in fact we ended up putting on the heat every day which in hindsight was more expensive than we had realized – next time we will incorporate this expense into our budget (Kimberley can provide an average cost to you in advance) should you visit in the winter months. As the owner, Kimberley made herself available to us at all times and was extremely responsive. We rented this fabulous little Fiat with a GPS that we nicknamed Maria whom never failed to get us from adventure to adventure! Can’t wait to return to Casa Alina in the future. Enjoy!!!

Most Beautiful Place On Earth!

  • 5 of 5

10 years later and just as beautiful as ever! We had a wonderful time and I leave Casa Alina making a promise that it will not be 10 years until I return. We drive thru the countryside saying this is the most beautiful place on Earth. Thank you for sharing your home and keep in touch. Hopefully I will see you in RI.

Oh- your mother-in-law is adorable. We just love her...and her food! Her cooking is fantastic, especially the cake. Maybe she can share the recipe :) Thanks again!
