About Branden Beier
We chose Donnelly, Idaho because it comes with great resort amenities just minutes away, yet gives you distance for true serenity. Out of all our family vacations, we have the fondest memories of our stays in the Idaho Mountains. Whether it be riding a bike, hiking or just lounging near the lake, our family always enjoys escaping to Boulder Creek Meadows for a serene, peaceful getaway at the Donnelly cabin!
Branden Beier purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Branden Beier chose Donnelly
We were looking for a nice cabin to escape to for seasonal getaways. We chose this cabin because of its proximity to the lake and easy access to all attractions in Valley County. The cabin has easement access to the lake and close access to a boat ramp.
What makes this Cabin unique

We really enjoyed the house! There was a BRAND NEW Hot tube, house was set up to meet all our needs. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the cooking ware we needed. Such a peaceful place! We did not use the fire pit out back as there was a burn warning in the area, but hoping that next trip we can use it.
We will defiantly be back, so many places just have the bare minimum. NOT this place everything we needed was there, even a kayak. The lake was a short walk away, which made for a excellent evening walk with the kids.
We had a great time.
This was our second time at the Beir cabin. We had a great time in Cascade. Only complaint was futons not too comfortable to sleep on for adults. Next time we will bring a blow up matress.
Inaccurate advertising but has potential
I am not one to complain but I am going to be honest. The representation on VRBO is not accurate. First the hot tub was broken & we were not informed until after we paid for the cabin. It had been broken since May & our stay was in July. My suggestion is to remove it from the amenity list until it is fixed - it is false advertising. It was one of the main things we wanted in a cabin. The pictures showed a well manicured grassy lawn. It was nothing but weeds and the back yard weeds came up to our grandchildren's chests (they are 9 and 10). We couldn't use the fire pit for fear of starting a fire. The air intake right by the front door is disgusting - filthy. The dead bugs in the windows were everywhere. The cleaning fee charged should make sure everything is clean! The practice of having guests put towels in the washers until departure is not good. Not sure how long before the cleaning crew comes through but the towels all smelled moldy - we had to wash them before using them. I would suggest asking your guests to run a load of towels both in the washer and dryer before leaving - that is what we did. The dishwasher soap storage was broken so it would not close at all. You do not have a functioning can opener even the old fashioned one doesn't work. All the stove burners in the front didn't work properly - they probably just need a cleaning. This cabin has a lot of potential just needs some taking care of.
I will say that the cabin is in a good location - a 5 minute drive to Boulder Creek State Park which we went to 3 times to hang out on the beach. Plenty of places to walk & ride bikes. The neighbors were very nice.
The hot tub had been ordered in May 2017, I was not informed at the time if purchase that the freight company required 3 deliveries to the Donnelly/McCall area. Therefore, I was with a understanding it could be delivered anytime. Finally, the hot tub was delivered in August 2017 & is currently working great!
As far as the can opener, last check in the cabin there was a functioning can opener, it has now since been corrected and a new can opener was placed back in the cabin.
We did call an appliance repair to check the gas stovetop out, the repair man state no issues with stove top & he reported that the guests must not know how to operate a gas stove top.
As far as the towels, we did discuss this with the cleaning service,we do hope this improves. Cleaning service did report, the property was not left is proper order, from the guest this weekend and double normal cleaning time was required.
Great house, communication lacking
Loved the house!!! Great layout. Well supplied. Convenient location. Only problem I had was initial communication in setting up and reserving the house. Communication was slow, and awkward thru the app/emails. But again, absolutely LOVED the house and would definitely stay again.
Great place for our reunion
This house was very nice and a perfect location for our family reunion. The house was a nice layout for our group and the only bummer was that the hot tub was broken.
Nice place, however...
This cabin/home was very charming with beautiful, ornate furniture appropriate for the style of the house. The kitchen was well equipped - better than most places we've stayed in. Overall, this place was very comfortable, however, there were some negatives to note. There is not any space in the bedrooms to unpack your things - no hanging space or dresser drawers or even a suitcase rack. In the upstairs bedrooms there are no night stands by the beds with lamps or place to put your electronics, etc. and again, no place to unpack your things. We chose this place because it appeared to be remote in the pictures, it appeared to be very close to the lake, and it had a hot tub. The neighborhood and area is nice and the scenery and views are beautiful, however, there are houses on both sides, very close (you don't see that in the pictures). And the dog next door barked a lot. It is on a dusty road that leads to a campground, so there's quite a bit of RV traffic. The hot tub was not working. We didn't know that until after we secured the reservation with payment. The property had high weeds front and back making it difficult for our granddaughters to walk in or our small dog to go out in. It is close to the lake, but not within walking distance unless you are up to a long hike. After some exploring, we discovered a day use spot about a mile down the road at Boulder Meadows ?? It would have been nice to have that information provided. When we got there the smoke alarm was chirping. I immediately contacted the owner. The response was, they had no one in the area to take care of the issue and it would take them 3 hours to get there, so we had to go all night with that constant chirping. We could not take care if it ourselves because it was about 20' up a very high ceiling upstairs and there was no ladder on the property. Someone did show up first thing the next day, but did not realize how far up on the ceiling it was. Also, the cleaning person later showed up with a 4 foot ladder to fix it. Overall, we had a very nice time here. It was our first time to Idaho. The area was beautiful. The lake seems to be more about fishing, hiking and winter. We could not find a very good swimming spot for our 13 year old granddaughters here, but found a nice beach in McCall, which is about 15 minutes away. McCall is also the best place for grocery store and pharmacy, etc. McCall is a beautiful town on Lake Payette.
The house was left is marginal shape, cleaning service stated they had more cleaning than a normal clean. The hot tub groove up, due to the very cold winter and in May it was decided unrepairable, at that time new hot tub was ordered. The Freight company delivering the hot tub would not do delivery unless they had a total of 3 deliveries to the area. Therefore, the hot tub dud not get delivered until August, even though it was purchased & paid for in May 2017. Currently, new hot tub has been delivered and working great!
As far as a stand by maintenance, this is not a hotel, we do not have 24 hour maintenance. We made every attempt to get someone out to change battery to fire alarm, the only other option was for us to drive 2.5 hours or wait until morning to have our paid service company get someone dispatched. It is important to understand when renting a AirBnb or a CRIB property, these are not hotels that are staffed and when things arise it is important to understand patient's is need and appreciated.
Boat Ramp Access and easement access for walk directly to Lake Cascade.
