Great getaway spot
Beautiful location in the heart of the Hiawatha forest. Neat and clean, classic log cabin. Quiet and secluded, great access to local trails.
Debating on a 4.5 to 4.75; we really enjoyed it
Our family spent 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. We wanted a cabin that wasn't right on top of someone else and this was perfect! Surrounded by the woods on 3 sides and a long drive to separate it from the neighbors. There are paths right behind it and by the dock to Hiawatha forest. The lake was across the street with other cabins but the owners own the last place on the road and have an extra dock that is for the cabins use. It's just a short walk and the dock is separated by bushes from everyone else so it's nice and private. Someone even cued the bald eagle to glide in for a landing across the lake a couple times while we were out. The kids took the canoe out a couple of times without any problem getting it in and had fun; we ran out of time to try paddle boat. It says a stocked kitchen but you just don't ever really know what they mean especially since we couldn't see a refrigerator in the pictures. There was a frig, coffee maker, microwave, oven, crock pot, some other ovenish thing we use in concession stands for soft pretzels and just about everything else we needed. Only thing I could have used was a rubber spatula but there were metal ones and pots and pans and dishes. The kitchen table was a card table covered by a top so we took that off and played cards at night. We have Verizon and had little (one occasional bar) to no service, no wifi, internet or cable but there was a tv and dvd player plus some extra movies if you didn't bring any. The only thing I can think of that might be a problem for anyone was that the shower is rather small and a tighter fit than most people are used to but was still very functional. Enough hot water for 5 adults and dishes. Hope this helps with your planning.
We were somewhat disappointed by the property. The first thing we noticed was a musty smell upon entering. Then there were several carpenter ants upstairs which bit the kids and made them hesitant to sleep up there. We were told there is a paddle boat to use, however, it had a hole in the bottom and would have sunk. We did have access to the canoe though and enjoyed good fishing on Thunder Lake. Another beach at Camp 7, I believe, also made the stay enjoyable. Overall, it wasn't bad but I expected more for the money.
AMAZING!! Defiantly will be back soon!! This cabin has everything you need and it is secluded and beautiful. One of the best expirences!!
Love, love, love this place!
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and wanted a place to enjoy with our dogs - we definitely found it! The cabin had everything we could have wanted! It's in a great location for day excursions and is also a great spot if you wish to stay local on the beautifully secluded Thunder Lake! The fire pit was great, with benches which made it easy to have dinner by the fire! We just got home today and have already recommended this place to others! Stay here, you will not be disappointed!!
