Kitsilano Cottage, the structure, is a heritage designation qualified 1916 Craftsman bungalow, typical of the Kitsilano neighbourhood. It has been meticulously restored and ethically upgraded to provide modern living convenience with architectural integrity with its origins.
A Suite @ Kitsilano Cottage is a single, upscale, self-contained, garden-level suite. It is approximately 825 square feet. There are two bedrooms. One has a king-size bed and the other a queen-size bed. The furnishings are a blend of antique and authentic hardwood reproductions in the Craftsman or, as our guests from the United Kingdom fondly refer to it, Macintosh style.
The suite has its own private entry, patio, separate private phone line, LCD Flat Screen TV with VCR/DVD and digital cable featuring Pay-Per-View and Video On Demand (at added cost), broadband Internet access by Ethernet and WiFi, stereo, a single bathroom with tub/shower, full Cook's kitchen, and in-suite laundry facilities, for guest use. Daily rate guests, staying over a week, are provided weekly linen changes and cleaning service. Breakfast is not served.
Also for daily rate guests the suite is provisioned with fresh fruit and baking, coffee and tea preparation supplies for a complimentary, self-catered, continental breakfast for the first morning. Beyond that, we recommend the many wonderful restaurants, within walking distance. There is always the option of using the suite's well-equipped, Cook's kitchen for preparing meals. There are several grocers, within easy walking distance, offering a good variety of your favorite meal preparation ingredients.
Please Note: A Suite @ Kitsilano Cottage does not accommodate guest pets, however we can recommend boarding services for the same. Note also that we are a non-smoking facility. While smoking outside is permitted, absolutely no smoking indoors is allowed.
Kitsilano District is clearly one of the most desirable urban-residential neighbourhoods in the world.It is cosmopolitan and near the warming influence of the waterfront, keeping the weather in a moderate range year-round. An area typified by its myriad arts and crafts design homes, lush gardens, green spaces, and its chic business areas. Most of the very finest restaurants and nightlife venues in all of Greater Vancouver, a city renowned for its great food, are within walking distance. Both wonderful boutique shopping and several beaches, again all within easy, safe walking distance, supplement this. For this reason, you will find properties outside the bounds of the district, advertising as being in Kitsilano. Our location between 4th Avenue and Broadway and Kitsilano Beach and Jericho Beach parks is the very heart of this wonderful part of the Vancouver's West Side.
Granville Island, a must on any visitor’s list, is built around a public market and a devotion to the arts. Theatres, artist studios, and fine dining venues abound. Or rent a boat or kayak and tour the beautiful waterways that define this city’s natural beauty.
Downtown and Stanley Park are just across the Burrard Street Bridge, which is an architectural highlight itself. The downtown core offers the cosmopolitan appeal of Robson Street, shopping at some of the most recognized names from Paris to Rodeo Drive and boundless nightlife and cultural venues. Terms and Conditions:
We operate on a 30 day Cancellation Policy. Reservations not cancelled 30 days prior to the proposed check in date, will be billed the full stay, total amount. If we are able to sell the time, or part of it, to another party, those proceeds can be refunded. The maximum amount is up to the cost of the reservation, less a minimum, one night's stay equivalent, hold back to recover costs.
Once a guest makes a booking, the entire quoted cost of the stay, including taxes is due and payable, at their check-in date. There are no credits issued or refunds for early departures. We always recommend our guests avail themselves of trip cancellation/interruption insurance, in case of emergencies which might necessitate having to not arrive at the appointed time to claim the reservation or having to leave prior to the agreed on departure day.
By accepting a booking with us, our guests' accept full financial responsibility for any damages to the premises, its contents and surrounding environs. By this guests agree that the cost of damage remediation will be billed to their credit card. Guests further agree that should the remediation cost exceed the credit limit of their credit card, they will, immediately on demand, pay the additional costs.

About the owner: After my richly diverse career, mostly in public service, my beloved wife, Sally and I started this business. It was a great fit for us as we preferred being self employed, liked and were often on our computers, loved our neighbourhood, enjoyed walking and biking along the water, and were surrounded by great restaurants. We also loved travel, in which residential accommodations were always our preferred choice. So when we purchased this house we decided to offer something like a B&B but without the schedules and shared spaces, which we would have most preferred. We traveled a lot and always stayed at B&Bs. We loved the neighbourhoods, the always chosen heritage structures, the decor and the feeling of really being in that community, something we never felt in downtown core hotels. Since Sally was taken by cancer, in 2002, I have continued to operate the business and maintain our house in her memory.
