The Sandbar Beach House is a pet-friendly weekly rental property that rents from Sunday to Sunday in-season. This delightful, spacious rental home offers classic beach charm, lots of space and is nestled in the heart of Nags Head at the 10.5 milepost, conveniently positioned between two beach accesses. With four bedrooms and five and a half baths, this three level house sleeps up to 16 guests.

The house is fully dressed with linens and includes all dishes, laundry facilities, games, pool toys and beach chairs. The house is air conditioned and includes cable television, private pool, hot tub and recreation room with kitchenette. The laundry room is fully equipped with washer, dryer, ironing board, and iron. A high chair and pack n' play crib are also available for guest use.

The beach is about 300 yards away, a four minute walk across the Beach Road and over the sand dunes to the water line. The house is within easy walking distance to five local restaurants, art galleries and unique gift shops. Area attractions are just a short drive away.

Close to the beach!

We had 2 families stay comfortably in this home. The beach was a short walk and close to the grocery store. Booty Treats is a must and you can walk there for your summer treat.

Overpriced and outdated.

We paid too much for the quality of the amenities advertised. Shortly after our arrival, we were thrown off by the quality of the home for the amount we paid per night. Even though this is a good location from the beach, and relatively close to other amenities the house was very poorly cleaned (dishes were put away dirty, floors were full of dust bunnies and dirt, black mold on the shower curtains, an over powering smell of mold and mildew on the first floor, and unemptied trash cans in the restrooms). The deck flooring was sun damaged and splintered (be sure to wear shoes) and the deck seating was either unusable (broken) or so old that you risk either breaking it or require a tetanus shot to use (rusty nails extruding from the makeshift splintered wood benches, and table). The pool was very dirty and full of debris, mulch, hair, and dead bugs (which required us to clean ourselves hours after our arrival). The property advertises a heated pool but to turn the heater on was an extra $150.00. With infants and young kids we thought this would be a bonus during evenings or cold(er) day swims, but when we asked to have it turned on, we were told, “you won’t feel a change in the pool temperature”, “it has not been run in years”. The hot tube could barely fit 4 adults.The family room furniture was usable but water stained and run down. All the TVs were CRT's from the early 90's (not so luxurious for rainy days, or late night TV). The property advertised spectacular ocean views from the top deck but all that can be seen is the horizon (no shore line) through the spaces between the houses lining the beach. After looking into comparable homes (location for the beach, and number of rooms/bathrooms, pool etc.) we were very disappointed in the overall quality for the price. We enjoyed the area but cannot recommend this home.

Owner's Response: I am sorry the weather didn't cooperate during your stay, but we obviously can't guarantee good weather, and that's a poor excuse to submit such a misleading review. Of course the ocean view is obscured during a storm, that's what clouds and rain look like, and photos in listing clearly show there are other houses between us and beach! If you need unobstructed view of the ocean, the beach front houses across the street go for about 20K per week. We would have quickly addressed any issues with condition of house on your arrival, but none were reported, and frankly, I seriously doubt there would be dust bunnies or full trash cans left behind, as cleaning crew spends hours cleaning those houses between guests each week, and we do a walk through prior to each arrival. On the pool heater, we just explained that when the wind is blowing during a storm, as it was during much of this stay, the pool heater can't keep up with surface heat loss, so it would have been a waste of money to turn it on, but next time, maybe we should just lie and take your money.

Great location!

House was everything depicted. Close to the beach. Rooms were large and comfortable. Beautiful and beachy decor and kitchen was well equipped. Hot tub and pool were

enjoyed by entire family.

Lovely House

The house is large and has good location to everything. When I first arrived, there was a wonderful gift basket waiting for us and welcoming us to the home. We enjoyed a long weekend with 9 family members for a birthday celebration. Plenty of room for everyone, including a private bath for each bedroom. Beach chairs and pool toys are provided for you use along with plenty of towels and linens. I would definitely recommend and rent again.

Very nice house, centrally located

The house was overall very nice. It has plenty of room, and well situated near everything in Nags Head, and near a very nice beach (surprisingly with some nice seashells), and a GREAT ices/ice-cream place (Booty Treats).

It's only 1.5 miles from Jockey Ridge State Park (amazing dunes, hang gliding school too), and about 3 miles from Kitty Hawk. Good eats nearby in abundance.

The reasons I couldn't give it 5 stars are the following:

1) The bathroom in the top bedroom looks like it could've used a better cleaning (mop job), as could the sofas been better cleaned in the top area (lots of pet hair under the cushions).

2) The pool wasn't properly cleaned (lots of mulch sitting at the bottom of the pool from the surrounding back yard mulch). Truly, it wasn't time (end of April) to use the pool, but my kids wanted in, so they used it, but it wasn't quite ready for use as per the mulch pervading the pool.

3) The pool table was heavily warped and the bottom parts of it were quite warped, as was the foosball table being in terrible shape as well. My recommendation is either fix them or get rid of them.

4) We had an issue with the keys to the place not being usable to lock the door to the house (which was remedied rather quickly, but still).

Yes, that may seem like a lot of minor issues (or moderate issues), but still we had a very nice time, and again the place was nice and everything in the area really more than made up for those things.

There are NO PARTIES aloud in the house at any time. This is a family rental only, parents, grandparents, children and extended family members. ID's must be furnished upon request. Violation for the above stipulation is cause for immediate eviction without refund of rent paid. NO EXCEPTIONS.
