6-Bedroom Contemporary Oceanfront Home on 7-mile-long Manzanita Beach

This luxury home is atop a rise, with unobstructed ocean views. it’s just a step outside the door to picnics on the beach, building driftwood forts, long strolls along the surf and evening bonfires.

Lago Mar I is huge, at 4,500 square feet, but it has numerous getaway spots, making it ideal for large gatherings. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the vaulted living room bring the outdoors inside, with stunning ocean views. The interior is bright and airy, with contemporary furnishings and carefully selected art. I built Lago Mar I for gatherings of family and friends, and you’ll love how many ways there are to reconnect here. After having fun on the beach, gather around the stone fireplace, relax in the hot tub, have a meal on a wind-protected dining porch, play a round of pool, watch a movie in one of two home theaters or put on your own house party with the whole-house Sonos sound system, in the ocean-view Lounge with its fully equipped bar.

One of the top things my guests rave about? The master bedroom, upstairs, is surrounded by windows on three sides, offering phenomenal ocean views. Nighttime is equally spectacular, with stars blanketing the sky from every window.

If you can tear yourself away from the fun at the house, the charming town of Manzanita, with weathered, shingle–sided buildings, is just a 5-minute walk away. It has some seriously great boutiques, a fabulous bookstore, several top-notch restaurants, a bakery, a great wine bar and a village pub that’s a renowned local gathering spot. Nearby, crabbing, kayaking, fishing, hiking and fun activities on adjacent beaches offer tons of additional recreational possibilities.

About Brian Heberling

I was born and raised on Lake Sammamish in Bellevue, Washington, and am the owner of a modern design-build firm. A real estate investor and company founder, I take great satisfaction in building highly functional, beautiful, environmentally conscious homes in spectacular settings. Outside of my work, I'm a sports fan and am avid about rock-and-roll. For years, I managed a rock band that played throughout Washington. I’m the third generation of my family living on the lake, and in the summertime I enjoy waterskiing and boating.

On an Oregon Coast road trip in 2002 I fell in love with the charm of Manzanita and its amazing, 7-mile-long beach, and over the next 2 years I acquired three vacation rental houses here, including this fun-filled, artsy oceanfront home. I was drawn to the house because of its remarkable setting, on a promontory overlooking the beach, and just a short walk from the heart of the village. After a major remodel, Lago Mar I is a sparkling contemporary home perfect for large groups and multi-generational family gatherings. It's filled with fun amenities, from home theaters and games room to media room and outdoor dining deck with BBQ, plus an oceanfront hot tub.

Kathy and her 3 adult children's families' annual Christmas celebration

For 5 years, all 14 of us have enjoyed our 'Family Christmas At The Coast' in this absolutely PERFECT home! I've heard a few grandchildren call it 'our Christmas home'! We really aren't there on Christmas, but we do the usual Christmas things, plus other events that are now traditions. What matters now is that we can all enjoy being together, in one place, at one time, in this perfect home! Every family, adults, every older child, younger ones too, have places to be, play, watch tv (usually football), walk on the beach, but there is also plenty of room to all be together, too, for our family times to open gifts, play games or do projects on the big table, or enjoy great meals fixed in the very well equipped kitchen. Note, more dishes than usual (which are provided)? Well, there are a few more dishwashers, besides extra refrigerator space..... The list of extras can go on and on, actually!! I can highly recommend this lovely home to anybody..........well, unless it is the time that 'WE' think it is 'OUR' Christmas home!

Perfect Family Vacation Spot

The House was large, clean, convenient, well stocked, and affordable for all 16 of us. The beach was out the door. Babies, small children, and teenagers along with adults all had plenty of space and places to get away from each other or enjoy time together. Great place to celebrate a special occasion.

Manzanita Beach house

This house is AMAZING. The views from the living room and Bedrooms are breath taking. We did not want to leave after a week there. My in laws loved that they could walk right onto the beach from the deck. My husband and I loved the hot tub, ot was great to sit and relax while looking at all the stars. The kids loved the xbox, pool table, and all the sand dollars they found on the beach. The sound system throughout the house was great. My husband actually danced with me on new years while looking out at the water. We will definitely be staying here during the summer. Kitchen has everything you need. Best of all is Carmen, she was there to show us the house and then made sure everything was going well. She gave us great restaurants recommendations. Everyone has to go to the Bistro, amazing clam chowder and mac and cheese. Best beach house we have rented.

How the perfect place got even better!!

My family of 14 (my 3 children, their spouses and children) had rented this house for 4 days, for 4 years. It is perfect for this growing family with children of diverse ages. So when I inquired about renting it a 5th year, and heard it was remodeled, I wondered why? It was perfect already! HOWEVER, once we were there (5th year!), it was even better! The media room (some members had work commitments! and this made it easy to get all done quickly and accurately!... paper was even there for the printer!), the added TV room, the X boxes (kids loved), all the other media equipment that Carman, the property manager carefully explains...... well, we again, enjoyed every inch of this lovely, perfectly equipped home. The hot tub, the very well equipped kitchen, plus the 'extra dishwashers', large ice machine, outdoor gas grill, and beautiful and plentiful linens for VERY comfortable beds, makes one able to 'settle in' within minutes and enjoy the gorgeous surroundings! I could go on and on, but better yet, see for yourself, as you will NOT be disappointed!!!

First Class Beach House

My wife and I have rented many VRBOs and this one rates at or near the top - definitely in the top two. We were met at the house by Carmen, the property manager and her tech specialist three hours ahead of the normal check-in time. The owner allowed early check-in since the house was not rented the day before. The tech specialist briefed one in our party on the sound, TV, and projection systems while Carmen walked me through the house. It is newly remodeled, equipped with about everything one could ever want or expect in a rental and was very clean. It is so big the 10 of us in my party felt almost lost at times. TVs were everywhere, furniture was in good condition, the hot tub was ready to go, extra beach towels were provided, the game room featured a high quality pool table, the fireplace was set up to burn with additional firewood in storage, the Weber BBQ was in very good shape, extra propane bottles were provided, two refrigerators were provided, cookware was excellent and even included a generous supply of Tupperware for storing miscellaneous left-overs after cooking. We were pleasantly surprised to find two carafes which we happily used. The house also featured a glass-enclosed patio that looked out onto the ocean, a separate bar room, a separate den, and a separate TV room which would allow a large group to spread out and kids to play without impacting the adults. Carmen informed me the house is rented often for corporate retreats and it is clear why. The only minor nit was the windows looking out onto the beach were a little dirty with fresh salt deposits, but Carmen bought us a squeegee and we solved the problem in short order. Everyone in our group agreed we had a great time and hope to rent this house again next year.

Perfectly located Luxury steps away from everything including the ocean

Fantastic property with high end amenities through out the facility. Attention was paid to every aspect of a renters needs with this property. We have rented a lot of different properties in many different locations and this one tops our list of amazing places. From a kitchen outfitted with top of the line appliances, including a Nespresso machine, to bed linens that make it hard to get out of bed. This house is set up perfectly for family reunions and/or large groups. It is also wonderful for kids as they can enjoy the sandy beach just out the back door or play a game of pool. Gaming systems are also provided for those times one might get stuck inside. The house is equipped with a sonos sound system so you can enjoy music while you relax watching all of the activity just out the back door. With multiple dishwashers and bar areas it is a perfect space to entertain your family. As if the house wasn't amazing enough the owner has a property manager who makes sure you have everything you might need with out interrupting your vacation. We were fortunate to get to experience the new remodel and it was even more beautiful than we had expected. Needless to say we would highly recommend this property and its owner who also took the time to personally greet us and make sure we got settled.
