6-Bedroom Contemporary Oceanfront Home on 7-mile-long Manzanita Beach

This luxury home is atop a rise, with unobstructed ocean views. it’s just a step outside the door to picnics on the beach, building driftwood forts, long strolls along the surf and evening bonfires.

Lago Mar I is huge, at 4,500 square feet, but it has numerous getaway spots, making it ideal for large gatherings. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the vaulted living room bring the outdoors inside, with stunning ocean views. The interior is bright and airy, with contemporary furnishings and carefully selected art. I built Lago Mar I for gatherings of family and friends, and you’ll love how many ways there are to reconnect here. After having fun on the beach, gather around the stone fireplace, relax in the hot tub, have a meal on a wind-protected dining porch, play a round of pool, watch a movie in one of two home theaters or put on your own house party with the whole-house Sonos sound system, in the ocean-view Lounge with its fully equipped bar.

One of the top things my guests rave about? The master bedroom, upstairs, is surrounded by windows on three sides, offering phenomenal ocean views. Nighttime is equally spectacular, with stars blanketing the sky from every window.

If you can tear yourself away from the fun at the house, the charming town of Manzanita, with weathered, shingle–sided buildings, is just a 5-minute walk away. It has some seriously great boutiques, a fabulous bookstore, several top-notch restaurants, a bakery, a great wine bar and a village pub that’s a renowned local gathering spot. Nearby, crabbing, kayaking, fishing, hiking and fun activities on adjacent beaches offer tons of additional recreational possibilities.

Bedrooms:

The 6+ bedrooms are luxuriously appointed, with pillow-top mattresses and high-end, hotel quality linens. There is also a sleep sofa in the den, a kids’ loft with a full-size bed, and a crib. Sleeps 14-16.

• The Master Suite, upstairs, is a private enclave with a king-size bed, en suite bathroom and expansive ocean views.

• The Junior Suite, on the main level, with a king-size bed and ocean views, has an en suite ¾ bathroom.

• The Patio Suite, on the basement level, has a king-size bed, ¾ bath and separate entrance, with an east-facing covered patio.

• Near the entrance, the Queen Suite, with a ½ bath, features a comfortable reading nook.

About Brian Heberling

I was born and raised on Lake Sammamish in Bellevue, Washington, and am the owner of a modern design-build firm. A real estate investor and company founder, I take great satisfaction in building highly functional, beautiful, environmentally conscious homes in spectacular settings. Outside of my work, I'm a sports fan and am avid about rock-and-roll. For years, I managed a rock band that played throughout Washington. I’m the third generation of my family living on the lake, and in the summertime I enjoy waterskiing and boating.

On an Oregon Coast road trip in 2002 I fell in love with the charm of Manzanita and its amazing, 7-mile-long beach, and over the next 2 years I acquired three vacation rental houses here, including this fun-filled, artsy oceanfront home. I was drawn to the house because of its remarkable setting, on a promontory overlooking the beach, and just a short walk from the heart of the village. After a major remodel, Lago Mar I is a sparkling contemporary home perfect for large groups and multi-generational family gatherings. It's filled with fun amenities, from home theaters and games room to media room and outdoor dining deck with BBQ, plus an oceanfront hot tub.

Really enjoyed our time at the house!

We enjoyed a fun reunion weekend at the house. There is plenty of space and we look forward to returning with our families! It was raining the entire time we were there, so we spent most of the time inside which didn't end up being a problem since the house provides lots of activities to do. When the sun did come out one morning, we took a walk on the beach which made us realize that this house could be perfect for a summer getaway.

We walked into the small town which is only a 2 minute walk, it's very close. Highly recommend the restaurant Blackbird which was fantastic!

We left a very small list of comments/suggestions for them which aren't too big of a deal. But the main issue was the internet was very unreliable which proved frustrating at times. Hoping that gets fixed because we hope to return!

We love this house!

This was our second time we rented this house. We loved it as much this time, as the first. It's perfectly laid out for the 10 family members who stay with us. The living room view of the ocean is breathtaking, and the hot tub looking out at the ocean is always a joy. The kitchen is perfectly equipped and the pool table downstairs is always fun for all. This house is highly recommended as a great family place to gather.

Family Spring Break Trip

The home was just right for our 12 member family. Plenty of room to spread out and also great areas to congregate as a group. The beach access out the back deck was very convenient. The beach views were spectacular. Carmen, the property manager, was very responsive to our requests. She is very personable and makes you feel welcome immediately upon meeting her.

An amazing experience...

We had a wonderful stay at the Lago Mar I house in Manzanita! What a terrific place! With all of the comforts of home and a clever design, the house had plenty of space for our small family reunion with 16 people and four families. It was incredibly clean and well appointed. The location is also terrific - the beach is right off the patio, and the town of Manzanita is absolutely charming! The entire reservation process was seamless - both the owners and concierge were so helpful and friendly. Overall, we highly recommend this property and hope to return next year!

Great home, great location

We have stayed in this home about 8 times over the past few years and we always enjoy our time. Brian and Carmen are very accommodating and, even though the house had some damage from the tornado last fall, we still enjoyed our time. We love that the house is right on the beach, walkable to town and has had multiple updates since we first started going. We look forward to our annual trip to Manzanita and love their hospitality and the beauty and peacefulness of the house.

Kathy and her 3 adult children's families' annual Christmas celebration

For 5 years, all 14 of us have enjoyed our 'Family Christmas At The Coast' in this absolutely PERFECT home! I've heard a few grandchildren call it 'our Christmas home'! We really aren't there on Christmas, but we do the usual Christmas things, plus other events that are now traditions. What matters now is that we can all enjoy being together, in one place, at one time, in this perfect home! Every family, adults, every older child, younger ones too, have places to be, play, watch tv (usually football), walk on the beach, but there is also plenty of room to all be together, too, for our family times to open gifts, play games or do projects on the big table, or enjoy great meals fixed in the very well equipped kitchen. Note, more dishes than usual (which are provided)? Well, there are a few more dishwashers, besides extra refrigerator space..... The list of extras can go on and on, actually!! I can highly recommend this lovely home to anybody..........well, unless it is the time that 'WE' think it is 'OUR' Christmas home!
