About David Filippini
I'm a Navy veteran from San Diego, and a graduate of the US Naval Academy . I've lived all over California from the Bay area to Ventura county, and lived in several states including Texas and Illinois. My wife was born in Wisconsin, grew up north of Chicago, but is a Wisconsin Badger Engineer, with a UCLA MBA.
David Filippini purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why David Filippini chose Waves
We bought this property out of foreclosure after looking for over 2 years. The house provided us an opportunity to put our own touches on it because it was completely emptied out of furniture and all appliances. We removed all carpeting and replaced all the flooring with bamboo and oak. The kitchen was upgraded with solid quartz counter-tops and new cabinets. All the appliances and furniture have been installed within the last two years. We made this a house we love to stay at ourselves, and we think others will too.
What makes this Cottage unique
The Outer Banks of North Carolina is magical. I urge people to visit there even if you don't stay at this property. Places like this are disappearing and may soon be gone forever. This area is different than the Jersey Shore, Myrtle Beach, the Gulf Coast etc. Most of Hatteras is a National Seashore Park and protected wildlife habitat. The beaches are wild and unguarded, and you can still walk for a mile on one without seeing another person. Give the Outer Banks a try, you may end up coming back year after year like a lot of other people

Great house and truly wheelchair friendly!
Had a great time at this property with the whole family! Good location with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. For those looking for a wheelchair friendly home, this house should meet your needs (ramp to get in, elevator to access all levels of the house, roll in shower, etc). Lots of bedrooms with their own baths and awesome views of the sound from the top level. Pool was great also.
Very peaceful and fulfilling trip!
Great location. Very quiet area and walking distance for smaller Mom and Pop stores. It’s definitely not an area that has major activities going on. If you enjoy the beach, walking and smaller, local stores/venues, this is the place for you. The pier was absolutely amazing. Such a great way to sit outside and enjoy your coffee off the dock. The house was neat and spacious. Would’ve been a little more helpful if we were left more than 3 rolls of toilet paper for 6 bathrooms, but nothing that the local Dollar General couldn’t fix ;). My family and I will definitely be back for sure!
Thank you for the input. Glad you were satisfied with your stay. The management company will be looped in to your concerns and stock more necessities.
We were a group of six--four adults and two teenagers. The house was perfect--the adults enjoyed having our own bedrooms and bathrooms. The two teenagers shared the "bunk bed" room and a bathroom. The elevator and handicap ramp were great features for our elderly mom making it easy for her to navigate between floors and outside. The view from the uppermost floor where the kitchen/dining/living areas are located was spectacular! Kite sailing is very popular in the Outer Banks and we had ring side seats! The owner graciously allowed us use of the kayaks and paddle boards. The beach parking is just across the street and then a short walk on a boardwalk. We all enjoyed the pool and hot tub. I can't say enough good about this house--it was a perfect place from which to enjoy the Outer Banks.
Beautiful, Clean Home.
Everything you could want in a rental. Great local attractions & restaurants.
A comfortable home with excellent views of the sound and sunset
Our family of five along with my sister's family of four stay was very spacious and enjoyable. The house was super clean and had everything we needed for a great, relaxing week in the OBX. The fridge downstairs turned out to be quite convenient and a full bath in each bedroom was exactly what we (the girls) needed. A little cleaner pool, a colder kitchen fridge and higher quality living room furniture would have earned this home five stars. I would recommend this home to anyone looking to save money vs. staying right on the beach.
Very nice house
We enjoyed our time here for the week. First time visiting here. Hope to come back one day. Family of 12 here from Ohio kids enjoyed the pool and everything about the house. Jeanne
