About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 6 Amazing mountain view sunsets

Welcome to the Sunset Over Cherry Log! We've just changed the name since we bought the cabin in 2013 and added a few outdoor features for you to enjoy. Nestled between Ellijay and Blue Ridge, our mountain cabin is less than 90 minutes from Atlanta but feels like a world away. Perfect for a romantic weekend getaway, an escape from the big city, or an extended vacation. If you are seeking peace and quiet, you've come to the right place. With barely a neighbor in sight, curl up with a good book and a beverage on the front porch or sit in the hot tub on the lower deck and enjoy the view. Enjoy cool nights around the new fire pit or play some horseshoes. Inside is a cozy living room with a beautiful stone fireplace, a 39' flat screen TV with a DVD/VCR player, cable TV and Wi-Fi, movies, books and games and a fully stocked kitchen. There is also a gas grill on the porch.

There are three bedrooms, two with queen size beds and one with a day bed and trundle. If you are looking for fun and adventure, the Benton McKaye hiking trail is literally steps from our front door. There are nine stocked lakes for fishing within walking distance and tubing, kayaking, horseback riding.

Of course there is downtown Ellijay and Blue Ridge for dining, antiquing, festivals and fairs. Take a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway for beautiful views of the North Ga. mountains. New casino in Murphy only 30 minutes away. Only four miles off HWY 515 and all paved roads.

Whatever you are seeking, you can find it at our Sunset Over Cherry Log!!

Look forward to hearing from you!

About Kevin Fay

We purchased the cabin in August 2013. We love it so much up here, we moved up permanently from Atlanta in June of 2017 to Morganton, which is just past Blue Ridge.

Kevin Fay purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Kevin Fay chose Blue Ridge

Before we moved up to the mountains for good, it was only 90 minutes from our home in Atlanta and we just love the peace and quiet and beautiful sunset view. Has easy access to both Ellijay and Blue Ridge.

What makes this cabin unique

Just sitting in the rockers on the porch and enjoying the year round views, fresh air and peace and quiet!

Perfect place for R & R!!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a true retreat and found it here. Perfect cabin on the mountaintop with spectacular views, yet close enough to town to get whatever you might need! Not luxurious, but perfect comfort! The driveway is steep, but found that driving a few feet past it and backing in made it a piece of cake. Thank you Kevin and Ellen for sharing your piece of heaven.

As advertised!

  • 5 of 5

The sunsets from the deck were indeed spectacular. The cabin was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The neigborhood was very nice and offered the Benton McKaye trail within feet of the cabin. We enjoyed some hiking around the neigborhood and down the trails. We saw several deer in the neigborhood on several different occasions. We would consider stayning here again for sure!

Wonderful family trip. Very relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this cabin for your next trip. It was the perfect size for our group (4 adults/2 children/dog). The kids had their own room, which they LOVED. The kitchen was well stocked and we had every utensil needed to cook our meals. Plenty of towels, blankets, and pillows as well.

I loved enjoying my coffee while sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch. The mountain views were breathtaking. The driveway was a little tricky at first, but once we got the hang of it, it was a piece of cake. There are a lot of neighbors here, but we never knew they were there. The cabin feels very secluded, which we loved.

We brought our boat and were able to dock it at Lake Blue Ridge marina (only 15 min drive away) and leave our boat trailer for 3 days. Their prices were very reasonable as well.

Kevin was wonderful to deal with and answered all of our questions very quickly. We will definitely be keeping this property in mind for future trips.

Always enjoy the north Ga. Mtns.

It was a nice weekend family get away. We made the best of an 8 hour power outage. The hot tub was the cleanest we've ever been in.

Incredibly peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We rented this for a short weekend vacation & we were not disappointed. The cabin had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The view every day was beyond amazing. It was beautiful to see the sun come up as well as go down. The trail is literally right behind the house which is easy to find & take a nice little hike either way you go. We would definitely recommend this to anyone & would love to return in the near future.

Well appointed and nearly perfect.

  • 5 of 5

We found and booked the cabin about 3 months in advance. The owners were prompt and answered all questions about our 3 nights stay.

It took a minute to adjust to the narrow roads and steep driveway( we backed in). Once we did the check in list we went grocery shopping at the nearby Walmart(15 minutes away). We found the cabin clean, cool, and very well appointed. Both bathrooms had towels and toiletries. The bedrooms had extra blankets and pillows. The kitchen had every utensil, paper towels, garbage bags, crock pot, coffee pot, and pans I required. Our first evening was spent on the front porch rocking and swinging mesmerized by the view. The next morning we rose early and hiked Amicalola Falls(30 minutes away) then went to Expedition Bigfoot(5 minutes away). Afterwards we hiked the BMT around the neighborhood to see the covered bridges, lakes, & Parks. It is uphill back to the cabin and we found many ticks, but it was a nice addition to our experience. We used the fire pit that night. The wood storage behind the house was wet but luckily there was some wood left in the dry bin by the front door. I recommend putting some in there when you arrive if you plan to use the fire pit. There are 6 chairs and a table as well as a horseshoe game by the fire pit. The next day we used Thunder River rafting company to raft the Ocoee(35 minutes away). That evening we spent celebrating on the front porch, walking the roads, and listening to music.

We found this place to be very convenient & practically perfect. Everything was in good working order. There is a hot tub and televisions in every room, but we didn’t have time to use them. There is plenty of seating, 1 queen, 1 full , a trundle bed, a washer/dryer combo, dishwasher, and 2 full bathrooms. Directly outside is the BMT and is marked by white blazes. The cabin and neighborhood are shaded by the wonderful tree growth so hiking is not too hot. There are streams all along the neighborhood. The girls thought they heard a bear outside at one point and we saw 2 coyotes along the trail but other than that it is mostly chipmunks and lizards. The mosquitos and no see ums were not bad but the ticks were everywhere- check yourself well.

We enjoyed our trip very much and want the thank the Fays for sharing a piece of heaven with our family.
