About the property

Comfortable Adobe House. Sleeps 6-8 Easily. Quiet Town Location

When we told locals (Marfans) we bought our house and described where it was everyone said; “Oh the Coach's house.' Many happy memories are present and being made in the house. It is a 3 bedroom / 2 full bath with all the comforts of home. The master bedroom with full bath is in front of the house away from the other bedrooms and newly renovated bathroom. We have two large living areas, high speed internet, dining and breakfast rooms, kitchen, all new bedding and Hot Water on Demand! We try to think of everything you need. Our house is located across from the Marfa schools; be sure to check if the high school teams have a home game! The courthouse square is less than a half mile away, a nice easy walk. Bikes are available with the house. We will consider pets - call to discuss. Recently graffiti artist Jules Muck from Venice Beach, CA painted an amazing mural at our house. She has displayed in museums and public spaces all over the world. You will love it. Be sure and take photos.

About Paula

We are excited to share our lovely home and the beautiful town of Marfa with you. We have a great love of the area and all the special times we have shared in Big Bend (State and National Park). Marfa is a highlight to any trip to West Texas.

Paula purchased this house in 2013

Why Paula chose Marfa

We have been travelling to the Big Bend area for more than a decade. After camping, we always ended up in Marfa. Usually it was the highlight of the trip. You can spread out in our 2400 square feet. We have 2 baths, a true luxury in Marfa. You will love sitting on the front porch and enjoying the true sounds of the town.

We have created a home that you will feel comfortable in, but it is a 70 year old adobe. Like almost every house in Marfa, there are a few cracks in the walls.

Had a great time.

Quirky home with good location and lots of room. I appreciated the instructions on using the vintage 50's stove. Paula had lots of information on restaurants and things to do in and around Marfa. Thank you for urging us to go to the Star Party at the McDonald Observatory. It was amazing. Would definitely stay here again. It was a great Thanksgiving week. Kathryn

Great house and location

  • 5 of 5

Coach's House was perfect for our stay. It is very roomy and the location couldn't be better. Within walking distance to the court house, Hotel Paisano, etc. Great communication with the owners and really appreciated all of the Marfa information that Paula provided. Highly recommend Coach's House for your stay.

Awesome Stay! 😀

Our stay exceeded my expectations. There was plenty of space and the house was vintage. The welcome package was very helpful as well. We will certainly be making a return visit in the future.

Lots of space - great layout

  • 4 of 5

Coach's House is one of few 3 bdr rentals in Marfa and has one Master and two spacious rooms that share the second bathroom. Everything was super clean and presented as shown in the listing. The layout is spacious and lends itself to a lot of lounging space and privacy when needed. The A/C units were nice when we needed them and the thick walls kept it nice and cool overnight. Bathrooms seem to be remodeled nicely and the on-demand water heater worked perfectly. Kitchen is funky and functional, but very usable and we enjoyed cooking in it a lot. Only minor drawbacks are no outdoor table to enjoy a meal outside and its a few blocks too far to walk to all the galleries in the afternoon heat. Overall a great stay and a place I would happily return.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you loved our home. We hope that you come back soon too. I am so happy when someone appreciates my vintage stove and how awesome it is to cook there. I wish One thing I love about Marfa in the summer is the long days. It may be too hot to walk around in the afternoons, but I hope you tried the ranch walk in the late evenings. From our house, you can walk 1-5 miles and enjoy the long day and glorious sunsets. That is the perfect end to a Marfa day.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed Paula's home! We spent most of the first day listening to old tunes on the record player. We walked and used the bikes to explore town, everything was only a 10-15 minute walk, or a 5 minute bike ride. Her place is very accommodating and Paula goes above and beyond to help out with planning things to see and do. Thanks again!!

Located near town center, across from the Marfa Elementary School, our home is a peaceful place to start all your Marfa explorations. It is a nice walk to the courthouse/downtown area. Our house was built in the 1930's from adobe. Over the years, it was added onto so it is a large home perfect for more than one couple or a family. If you are in town during the week, catch a Marfa Shorthorn basketball game. Sit on our patio and star gaze. We are one block from the Lannan Foundation Park with its 'log' furniture. Just walk down Gonzales street to endless hiking trails through the ranch lands surrounding Marfa. Drive to Chinati, Fat Lyle's, and El Cosmico.
