What makes this villa unique

Villa SERENDIPITY was built and used as a private recording studio in the early 2000's by Miroslav Vitous. In the beginning of Miroslav career around 1970, the group Weather Report was formed along with Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul. Three years later, he formed the Miroslav Vitous Group along with John Surman, Kenny Kirkland and Jon Christensen. During this time he played in a trio with his brother Alan, and Jan Hammer. After winning a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Later Miroslav moved to New York & collaborated with musicians such as Bob Brookmeyer, Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Art Farmer, Stan Getz, Charlie Mariano, and Herbie Mann. In 1979, Vitous became the director of the Jazz Department at the New England Conservatory in Boston. The conservatory has a very disciplined program requiring all students to study for 6 years and pass stringent exams.

Beautiful villa ! Well maintained! Very clean! Pool is amaing. The views are unreal. The king bed with them AC blowing on us were fantastic after a long day of beers and sun at the beach and pool. Mike was very very friendly. Invite

Him up for burgers. His knowledge of the island will help during your stay. Well maintained villa that's for sure! Highly recommended. My only complaint is we didn't stay long enough :(

You just can't beat this property for the price!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property for 5 days and boy did it sink its hooks in me. I was blown away by it's killer mountain, ocean, and island views! All the bedrooms were beautifully designed, and with 11 different decks to choose from, you can enjoy each one with your entire party or have more secluded time to yourself. All the amenities are there, including an outdoor kitchen with lots of room for seating and relaxation, a hot tub overlooking a gorgeous bay, and a swimming pool perfect for cooling down during the middle of the day. The owners of the property were also extremely friendly and helpful to us as we had never been to the island and wanted to have a good time. They've been on the island for several years and knew the best restaurants, activities we could do as a group, and of course the we definitely got the inside scoop! Also, this property is a short (5 minute) walk from Oyster Bay which was personally my favorite beach, and also directly connected to Mr. Busbys restaurant/bar. You'll love this property as much as we did (in fact we're still talking about it back home), we'll definitely be back! Thanks Maryl and Mike for such a wonderful time!

Gorgeous view with great hosts

  • 5 of 5

We were traveling with my family (10 people total), this place was perfect. Everyone had their own space but the outdoor kitchen was the perfect place for everyone hang out together and enjoy the awesome view. It was also great because the beach and some great open air restaurants were a short walk way.

Because there were so many of us, we relied on the owners, Mike and Maryl, for recommendations, directions, and tips about each area of the island. The trip would not have been the success that it was with out both of them.

My husband and I will defiantly be going back. With or with out the family.

Gotta Getta Way

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a unique Get Away and found it at Serendipity. A great escape from the normal rat race on the mainland. It was apparent from the time we arrived at the property that the week would be one to remember. Just stepping out of the car and trying to grasp the incredible view of Oyster Pond, the Marina and the Ocean took our breath away. With all of the windows, niches, balconies and decks, you have a amazing view all of the time. It would be hard to pick just one location at this sprawling facility to sit and ponder as all have there own features. The cool Caribbean breeze was perfect to bring the fresh scents to you wherever you landed. We found that enjoying a good book in the Gazebo was a location which afforded a cool breeze, incredible views and total relaxation.

We were traveling as a couple and rented the portion of the facility called Serenade. It had all of the amenities we could have wished for on our getaway. The views from the Loft was fabulous and watching the sunrise on the attached balcony was one we will always remember. The kitchen in Serenade was fully stocked with all the equipment we needed. The full size refrigerator allowed us to stock up for our entire stay.

We had the opportunity to meet the owners (Mike and Maryl) and found them to be incredible people and gracious hosts. They were Spot-On with all of their recommendations for Beaches, Beach Chair comfort, Cocktail Temperature, Dining Options, Shopping and Snorkeling. When we left it was like we had known them for most of our adult lives.

If your planning to travel to St. Maarten, this is the Villa you will want to stay at.

We made the mistake of sharing a few photos with Friends and Family.. Our Romantic Getaway/Hideaway is no longer “Our Secret”. We have the entire facility booked for 2 weeks next June for our daughters wedding. Now we have 4 other couples that are trying to line up a January 2017 weeklong getaway.

After recently retiring, I made a trip to St. Maarten to "unwind". Staying at Serendipity was amazing and great choice. With the many balconies it was great to sit and take in the scenery. The ocean breeze is amazing and relaxing. Sitting and reading on the balconies was very enjoyable. Mike and Maryl were very accommodating on ideas of places to go and see.

Some of the restaurants that are nearby and good food and service include Busby's, Mama's Pizza and Dingy Dock. There are many others in Phillipsburg and Simpson Bay. Going to Driftwood to watch the airplanes land and take off is a must when visiting St. Maarten.

Mike and Maryl are great hosts and make sure you enjoy your stay?

A Lotta Regatta Fun!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I met 4 other couples in St. Maarten for the Heineken Regatta and had an absolutely incredible time. This is our third time staying with Mike and Maryl for this occasion, so I guess you could say we're seasoned. But they are indeed the most fabulous hosts you could ask for.

Even with ten rowdies sharing the villa with Mike & Maryl we never once felt crowded. This property allows you complete privacy even with that amount of people. We use the big outdoor kitchen area as our main gathering place, but we're also able to scatter out to the different decks as needed.

The rooms are very clean, the water pressure and hot water availability is no problem, and the overall ambience is absolutely first rate. Mike & Maryl are able to recommend great areas for beach adventure, nice dining and incredible shopping, as they know so many of the business owners.

Would definitely recommend this to everyone, and for most any reason. But we do plan to be there for next year's Regatta, so I'm calling first dibs on the Sunrise room for that! LOL :)

St. Maarten/St. Martin is an idyllic tropical paradise with the rare distinction of being geographically situated at the top of the Northeast Caribbean island chain known as “the Leeward Islands”. This location proves to be literally the perfect spot in regard to the island hosting a wide variety of incredibly beautiful and very different beaches.

The Northeast side of St. Maarten/St. Martin faces the great Atlantic Ocean and the super-deep Puerto Rico Trench. The seas are a bit bigger, cooler and wave sets begin to break on the shallow reefs, rolling lazily into the shore. Beaches like the famous Orient Bay, Le Galion and Dawn Beach face the Atlantic, and because of the ultimate power of the ocean, the sand there is ultra-white and powdery, a perfect mixture of coral, shells and soft-stone sand.

As you round the top of the island, and head North-Northwest, things change. The high mountainous and cliff region of St. Maarten/St.Martin act as a weather bloc and a funnel running into the Anguilla Channel. The beaches in Grand Case and Marigot are much calmer, warmer and have bigger gold tinged sand, more like the South of France. There’s a bit of a pocket after Marigot harbor and then you come to Bay Rouge. Although Bay Rouge is across the channel from Anguilla, the currents have churned up some amazing red-gold hued coral sand. The grains of coral sand are very large and feel wonderful to walk on, and the water can go from calm to rough at the drop of a hat.

The West tip of the island juts out into the Caribbean Sea. On the Northwest side, the French beaches of Plum Bay and Prune Bay sport fine white sand, deep blue seas and a beach break that is home to the occasional surfer. On the South side of the tip beaches like Cupe Coy and Mullet Bay have great coral-sand and steep declines to the water from the palm fringed beaches.
