Very disappointing - uncomfortable beds, leaky house, difficult access, no water for 1 week
We booked to stay here for 3 weeks in August. The road must have worsened a lot since the photos and descriptions were put on the website. The last 25 minutes to the property is on a gravel track with huge holes and steep inclines. It really needs a 4x4. Each time it rains more of the road is washed away. The rain also came in through the doors, windows and chimneys of the property making large puddles inside.
2 days after we arrived we had no water at all for 1 week. Fabio offered to let us use his shower and washing machine, which was really kind, but not really practical at 45mins drive away.
Almost 2 weeks after we arrived the rain washed away huge sections of the road making it impossible to reach the villa by car so we had to find a hotel for the night. Fabio informed us that the road was repaired the next day. However, the damage was extensive and we could not risk being stranded if it rained again, so we left the apartment a week early.
Unfortunately there is not a lot to recommend with this property. We love abruzzo and there are magnificent views of the mountains on the way to the house, but not from the house itself. We couldn't let the kids roam free because there are wild dogs living nearby, The beds were uncomfortable and it took us about 45 minutes drive to reach the nearest supermarket in the town of Teramo. There is one tiny fridge so you can't stock up but have to go shopping every day.
The most disappointing thing in all our stay was the fact that Fabio was not willing to refund us any money and we ended up having to pay for 2 holidays as it was not possible to stay at the villa for the full amount of time that we booked it for.

Vacanze in montagna...
Motorway to Teramo (A24 coming from Rome, A14 coming from Pescara or Ancona). The owner will meet guests in Teramo and take them to the villa (30 minutes' drive, including Km.3 of white road).
Nearest airports: Pescara, Ancona, Roma Ciampino, Roma Fiumicino.
Nearest railway/coach station: Teramo.
The nearest village, Santo Stefano, is km 6 from the house. There you can find two bars, a grocery store and a restaurant with a large playgroung for children. In nearby Torricella Sicura there are more restaurants, a supermarket, pharmacy, bank etc..
Both Teramo, with its charming historical centre and ancient cathedral, and Ceppo, famous for its forest and waterfalls, are about 30 minutes' drive from the villa. With approx. 1-hour drive you can reach fantastic beach resorts (Giulianova, Tortoreto, Alba Adriatica, Roseto degli Abruzzi etc.), mountain resorts (Prati di Tivo, Prato Selva, Campo Imperatore) and many ancient villages and towns such as Ascoli Piceno, Acquasanta Terme, Atri, Campli, Civitella del Tronto, with their medieval squares, churches and castles. In summertime every village and hamlet hosts a "sagra", the village fair with live music, cultural events and stalls serving local food specialities and wines. In Tortoreto, the Acquapark "Onda Blu" (water park) offers an exhilarating experience for children and adults.
With three national parks and several regional parks and natural reserves, Abruzzo has earned the title of 'greenest region of Europe'. Surrounding regions (Le Marche, Umbria, Lazio) offer countless tourist attractions including Rome (which can be reached in approx. 2 hours by car); Tivoli, famous for Villa Adriana (Roman Emperor Adrian's villa) and Villa d'Este, a Renaissance masterpiece; medieval towns such as Assisi, Norcia, Spello, Spoleto; great beach resorts such as San Benedetto del Tronto.
