About the property

1 bedroom, 1 bath, roll-out sofa located right on hole #15 fairway

Our golf cottage is one of our 3 properties at the Lake of the Ozarks and sits right on #15 fairway and next to the Old Kinderhook tennis courts and swimming pool. Our other two properties are across the highway located inside the Sugarloaf Vineyard Winery (VRBO listings 456930 and 456932). Please check out all 3 properties!

The Old Kinderhook golf cottage is a 1 bdr, 1 bath that sleeps 2 (plus another roll-out sofa in the living room), and the Sugarloaf Properties are a 2 bedroom, 2 bath and a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath.

All 3 properties have full use of the Sugarloaf lakefront picnic grounds and free kayaking.

Stay at the Old Kinderhook golf cottage and enjoy some of the finest golf in Missouri (Ranked #2 in the State), play tennis, relax by the pool, go fishing off the pier, boating, swimming, hiking and other amenities at the Resort. Or try your 'feet' at OK's new outdoor ice skating rink which then doubles as sand volleyball courts in the summer!

If you have a large group please consider combining your stay with our sister properties across the road at the Sugarloaf Vineyard. As part of the Sugarloaf Rental community you enjoy free kayaking (you can choose from singles or double kayaks) and use of the Sugarloaf Park Lakefront property. This property has a breathtaking view of the Big Niangua arm, very calm water and fabulous for kayaking.

The Golf Cottage at Old Kinderhook boasts a large master bedroom with a king bed and a roll-out sofa for a second couple or a family with children. The living room has a 40 inch flat screen and the bedroom a flat screen as well; satellite TV and free wi-fi.

Fish from the Old Kinderhook marina, catch some crappie and grill them on your cottage charcoal grill! Or, skip the grilling and enjoy fine dining at the Old Kinderhook Trophy Room restaurant or casual dining at the Sugarloaf Vineyard nearby.

Do some bird-watching or score a few birdies of your own on the magnificent, Tom Weiskopf designed golf course.

You'll have easy access to the Lake via the Old Kinderhook Marina for boating or choose the quiet lakefront at the Sugarloaf Vineyard property for kayaking and fishing.

There is a state park nearby called Ha Ha Tonka with an underground spring that expels 2,000,000 gallons of water per hour into the Lake and you could spend an entire day at the Park exploring, swimming or fishing.

No matter what your perception of a perfect vacation is, you won't be disappointed with the relaxation and serene feeling you will have when you leave this refreshing property!

About Barb Morris

Owners are Ward & Barb Morris who moved to the Lake in 1985 and raised our 3 children in one of the most beautiful locales in the U.S.! Barb owned and operated several Lake area restaurants over the past 27 years and enjoys the fine art of cooking and especially, pairing food with wine! Ward takes weekend breaks from his Computer Consulting career to tend to over 1500 grapevines on the property and looks forward each fall to harvest time.

Barb Morris purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Barb Morris chose Lake of the Ozarks

This property is across the highway from Ward & Barb's home and was purchased to expand the VRBO offerings to include a golf course community home but can also enjoy the serene location and amenities of our other 2 properties located at the Sugarloaf Vineyard.

What makes this cottage unique

We fell in love with the quiet side of the Lake and especially the Niangua Arm tributary with it's amazing wildlife. During the month February you can often spot as many as 700 great white Pelicans feeding on Lake fish for as long as 2 weeks as they migrate. This actually inspired the name of one of Sugarloaf Vineyards wines; the White Pelican, a dry white Chardonel. Other birdlife includes the great bald eagle, blue herons, egrets, seagulls, hawks, owls and host of other. And of course, several deer like to walk through the golf course at dusk and dawn. It's a great getaway couples setting, or for a small family or, combined with the other 2 Sugarloaf Rental properties, great for reunions or to get away from the city.

Great views and accomodations

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I truly enjoyed our four night stay at this location. The cottage was clean, had everything we needed (kitchen items, bedding, etc.) and it was cozy. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the decks (one covered, one open air) and watching golfers as they made their way up the fairway. This cottage is an extremely short walk to the Trophy Room (great food and service) and spa (superb massage). When we were there, the fairways were not grown in very much, so golf was not as optimal as hoped for, but this has nothing to do with the cottage. :) Beware: the internet service is spotty, so don't depend on it for your only source of connectivity (we ended up using our cell hotspots). We were sad that the winery wasn't serving during our stay, so if you're hoping for that, you should check to see if they'll be open during your travel plans. However, we will definitely plan to stay at this locale again!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your great review Rachel; a lot of information that will help our future guests! Very sorry about the internet service during your stay. It was unfortunate that the Lake had one of those weatherman "500 year floods" at that time. We recorded 9.5" of rain; luckily that's a pretty rare occurrence. We look forward to seeing you again!...Ward & Barb

Great Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Great spacious cottage. Very clean. It was just myself and husband, but it could comfortably fit four people. Comfortable king bed in the bedroom. Great view of the golf course. My husband played twice and loved the course. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed to make breakfast daily. It was a little chilly out when we were in town, so we did not get a chance to use the kayak, but we did go check out the vineyard and would also recommend anyone visiting to check it out.

Barb and Ward are very pleasant and answered any questions we had. We would highly recommend this cottage.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Debbie and so happy you had a good time! I hope you have an opportunity to return when it's warmer and can take out the kayaks. We are on the best part of the Lake for kayaking especially with Onyx cave just a short paddle away. Thanks again, Ward & Barb

Golf course view!

  • 5 of 5

Our 5 yr old immediately called this our "little house". We felt right at home in our cabin. Hotels everything is nailed down, here we had a full kitchen, a fantastic king size bed and nice wrap around deck to watch the sunset.
