Jim Saunders purchased this House in 2014
Why Jim Saunders chose Paso Robles
This property is located across the street from Hearst Ranch Winery, Tasting Room and Vineyards in Paso Robles. It became available in early 2014. When we realized it was an original adobe, built not long after the San Miguel Mission, we knew we had something special. The original home was built from adobe blocks that were handmade from soil in the area by the mission, by local artisans. We have kept two small areas of the walls exposed so you can see the beauty in the blocks that were handmade.
What makes this House unique
The exterior walls in the original home are approximately two feet thick. This keeps the home at a very even temperature in Summer and Winter. It is conveniently located on River Road about 4 1/2 miles North of Paso Robles. This makes it very private, yet easy to get to and from shopping and local restaurants. The home is also very close (about 4 1/2 miles) to the historic San Miguel Mission, one of the original 27 Historic Missions in California. We are located very close to many wineries such as: Hearst Ranch Winery (across the street) JLohr Villa San Juliette Locatelli Vineyards Riverstar Vineyards Tackett Family Vineyards Graveyard Vineyards Eberle Robert Hall Vina Robles And MANY more

Perfect weekend get away
What a beautiful place to share a family get together. The home was fully furnished and included many treats for us to enjoy. Checkin and checkout was easy and simple. Will definitely return and recommend others to enjoy!
Great Birthday Weekend
The house is wonderful and right across the street from the tasting room. We had a great time celebrating my husbands Birthday. The house had everything we needed and was super clean. I would recommend it to everyone!
Outstanding historic property in wine country
Beautifully decorated, lots of amenities and ample space for 4 couples looking to spend a long holiday weekend in wine country. The kitchen and BBQ got a lot of use and the dining room was perfect for our group meals and evening games. The sunsets were gorgeous to watch from the patio and surrounding farmland was great for morning strolls, plus the Hearst tasting room within walking distance. Looking forward to coming back and enjoying the hot tub! Beautiful hacienda.
We were a party of 5 adults and a kid. We had plenty of space and enjoyed the outdoor space. Lots of parking as well. My husband and daughter walked over to the Hearst Winery for wine tasting and picked up a bottle for our first night.
Jim was fantastic to work with and communicated efficiently. Unfortunately we were unable to make our wine tasting appointment due to LA traffic.
We did encounter some issues with the doors not locking properly.
Also, for the large size of the house, we all found the bathrooms quite small. The largest bathroom (with a claw foot tub) is behind the kitchen and laundry area, so not convenient for couples. The kitchen had a lovely fireplace, but the layout was a bit challenging for us since we ALL like to be prepping and cooking together. This is more of a 'style preference' as the kitchen was beautiful.
Great Weekend! 5 Star accomodations.
La Hacienda was exceptional! We went on a super tour with Jim and his hospitality was most generous. The property has great history and is a quality place to spend time. Not to mention the short walk to the Hearst Ranch Winery tasting room. Great wines and company. I highly recommend this property and look forward to a return stay.
My friends and family stayed in the house over President's Day weekend. The home is very clean and well stocked for cooking and we BBQd 2 tri-tips that we bought across the street at the Hearst Tasting Room. I have stayed here twice before and I will be back soon. Thank you to the Saunders for allowing to use your vacation rental. Margot you were a pleasure to work with in arranging our stay.
