Quite relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We are local and my husband could not wander far from his work for his birthday, so I booked a house boat instead of getting out of town. The location of the house boat was such that we could ride our bikes wherever we wanted to go, be it the center for wooden boats, downtown, or to fisherman's terminal to buy some fresh fish for dinner. There is no WiFi, but we both worked in the main room from our phones as hot spots for most of the morning and it was quite peaceful and light. We then spent the afternoon playing tourist, made dinner back on the boat and watched an old John Wayne movie on the TV. It was much nicer, larger, more convenient, and less expensive than renting a room downtown. If you want a peaceful place, but want to be in town, this is really nice.

Such luxury, great location, attention to detail, bargain

  • 5 of 5

This property was conveniently located, beautifully decorated and we'll equipped. The beds were comfortable with down comforters and plush towels. The hosts were responsive and easy to work with. Working the stove was tricky but one call into the host and we figured out how to use it. We would definitely stay again!

Well it's not downdown

  • 2 of 5

As you would expect this is a compact arrangement, two individual bedrooms, small bath, and small seating area in the kitchen end. Upon arrival it was clean and neat, situated in the first slip on the dock so the views are so so, land on one side, water on the other. The electric range top did not work which was more than annoying as we couldn't cook breakfast. Range was an OLD electric built for boats, I had the same one in a boat over 35 years ago. Not that you book this for TV reception but reception was abysmal if that is important to you. There are a few scattered restaurants within walking distance but everything else is a drive.

Owner's Response: It's not downtown I agree it's on lake union close to downtown there is a lite rail system at south end of lake union that can take you downtown . I have my self walked had breakfast on way no steep hills and lots of buildings most people love the location. There is also a bike station at south end of lake union .you walk through the heart of Amazon village for the high quality clean princess stove , same model and look is still made today stove does work I will include better instructions on how to use stove .the location is close to shore very privite and doesn't rock very much and super easy to get to great views out Chanel and saint marks cathedral ,lite up at night.for the tv I will provide CDs and get better reception antena but when I am there I enjoy some music wine and conversation swimming at night . Please understand we can't have it all. I the owner love staying on it when it isn't rented it's like being on vacation and I try and make sure to address all concerns and problems the best I can for every guest .thank you Mark

Had a great stay!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay on the houseboat. Here were our pro and cons:

Pros: The interior was nicely decorated and not cluttered. Bed and pillows were great, we slept very comfortably. It was great to sit in the front room with the windows open on a beautiful fall day and watch sea planes and sailboats go by. We had a beaver and Canadian geese outside the windows in the morning.

We were provided everything we needed from binoculars to wine openers (we didn’t cook, only reheated leftovers so a small kitchen was of no issue). We walked to restaurants/bars in the area and took day trips and it was easy to get out and about from this location. We arrived after 4pm on Friday and left on Monday morning so parking was free, easy and convenient (right in front of the boat slip area). Parking is free on nights/weekends.

Cons: The outdoor deck has a thick wood railing that obstructs the view when sitting in the low outdoor chairs. (We had a much better view when sitting inside with the windows open). The boathouse is close to the parking lot, convenient for getting in and out with luggage but you can hear car noise on occasion.

Great Place in Seattle!

  • 5 of 5

The houseboat was exactly as described and a fantastic location for exploring Seattle. Mitch was extremely helpful in changing dates when something came up for work, we really appreciate the flexibility! Bed was so comfy, only complaint would be that the skylight was super bright at 7am with no means to cover it up. We would have liked to sleep in a little more a few of the days but couldn't because of that. The location is on lake Union and there are constantly boats passing/sea planes taking off so always something to watch. Boat was really clean and well-stocked for a few day getaway. Thanks for everything!
