Window view of river =Happy place to sit
Fully enjoyed our stay. Sat at the window when it rained and enjoyed the view. When not raining, sat by river on a blanket enjoying the peace and the swallows. Good location for cycling to local villages. Very close to Parce with enough shops to find your daily food. Felt comfy and relaxed in such a lovely place.
The Salt House is a small, well equipped and rather comfortable place to spend a holiday
and explore the area with a nice walk along the river Sarthe, the little villages and bigger towns around. Nice weather helped too. Thank you!
Thank you Arijs! It was our pleasure to have you as our guests at the Salt House and we look forward to welcoming you there again in the future.

Lovely stay in beautiful location. Exactly as anticipated.
Perfect property for two people. Lovely village location. Worked out well for our Le Mans trip. Easy parking right next door.
Thank you Martin - we’re pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Salt House! It was a pleasure having you as our guest.

Bien agencer et propre, mais particulièrement bruyante.
Merci beaucoup pour votre avis - desole qu'il y avait du bruit? C'est très rare. Nous espérons que vous avez passe un bon séjour au Festival Musique quand même.

This area is perfect for cycling, hiking, boating, fishing and exploring and yet is only 40 minutes from Le Mans ('24H MOTO' and 'CLASSIQUE' motoring events; TGV to Paris).
Sable-sur-Sarthe, with its riverboat cruisers, major supermarkets and shops, TGV station (trains to Paris & Nantes), medical facilities and other amenities is a 15 minute drive.
Even closer is the delightful village of Parce-sur-Sarthe - 'Petit Cite de Caractere', offering a mini-supermarket, boulangerie, hairdressers, post office etc.
The beautiful 'Abbaye de Solesmes' is just a little further downstream from the property and the magnificent chateaux de la Loire are within comfortable driving distance. Pretty villages with flower-filled gardens, riverside walks, buildings of significant architectural and historic interest are all within a short distance of Avoise.
Further afield, the major cities of Le Mans, Nantes, Tours and Angers are world-famous for their magnificent cathedrals, historic districts and gastronomic specialities.

About Carol Hellyer and Michael Vowles
Carol - British by nationality and nomadic by nature. I'm a semi-retired language teacher currently living in France. I love travelling, hiking, cinema and property renovation projects. I speak Russian, French and a smattering of German. Michael - Together with my cousin Carol, we own vacation properties in France and Italy. I am Canadian living in the United States travelling often each year to Europe. I speak French and German and soon hope to add Italian to the mix. It is really satisfying to enable guests to have a comfortable place to stay at a reasonable price. We are not in this business to make money, just to pay for the place so we can use it when our guests are not.
Carol Hellyer and Michael Vowles purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Carol Hellyer and Michael Vowles chose Avoise
Purchased jointly, this property suits all our requirements - great location in a quiet and rural environment and yet within easy access of Paris via TGV. Charming, cute, compact and with 21st-century comforts and facilities. And, of course, the river...
What makes this Cottage unique
The character and charm of a former 14th-century toll-house but with interior contemporary upgrades. Proximity to beautiful river as well as Le Mans, Solesmes, Sable, and La Flèche.
