Accommodations: House with attached apartment, 5 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths (Sleeps 10)
Casa Encantado is situated on 4.5 acres just a five minute drive from The Plaza. The four thousand + square foot house is nestled into the pinons, giving the residents a feeling of complete solitude. The territorial-style home was built in the early 1950's, and was remodeled in 2000 to have plaster walls, beautiful hardwood floors, travertine tiles in the bathrooms, and slab granite countertops in the kitchen.
The decor is tastefully done in Santa Fe style with over-stuffed leather pieces, kilim covered occasional chairs, distressed pine dining table, antler chandelier, Indian drum coffee table, and Remington bronze statues throughout, just to mention a few of the touches you will find here. You will be able to sleep ten people very comfortably. You enter the home through a beautiful set of double pine doors with peek-a-boo windows. Just off the foyer is a quiet study with a desk where you will find a home office with internet, printer and fax.
You move into the living room from the foyer which has a conversation area in front of the fireplace, a game table, and a baby grand piano for entertainment. The dining table which seats up to ten is just off of the side of the living room, with French doors leading out to the expansive outdoor portal.
Leading into the kitchen is a wet bar butler's pantry, and a powder room. The kitchen has a large butcher block island with two stools, and is completed with all the very best appliances in stainless steel.
There is also outdoor dining under the portal with a propane bar-b-q grill.
You step down off the flagstone portal onto the patio which is appointed with outdoor chairs and chase lounges. When the evening chill sets in, you can light up a fire in the outdoor fireplace which is overseen by another beautiful bronze of an Indian mother with her baby. Just inside attached to the master suite, is an entertainment room with Direct TV and Blu-Ray DVD. There is a stone fireplace in the corner, three Eames chairs to relax in, as well as a super comfy sofa covered in fun leopard print velvet. There is also another wet bar, so you don't have to go to far for a refreshment.. The master bedroom has a antique pine four poster king-size bed, furnished with fabulously comfortable linens and pillows. There is a kiva fireplace, a 27 inch television with cable and VCR, and several chairs to relax in. The master bathroom is decked in travertine tile, and boasts a huge double shower which can be filled with water and used as a tub.
The second bedroom has a queen size antique sleigh bed, and full bath.
The lower level has a fitness room, laundry facilities, and steam and regular shower in the bathroom. There are two bedrooms on the lower level with two twin beds in each room.
Casa Encantado also has an attached apartment approximately 1000 sq. ft., which has a full bath, full kitchen, big screen TV, stone fireplace, queen-size bed, and a billiard table.

There is not a better value for the amount of people this property sleeps, it's location and the amenities. The property has amazing views and everything you will need to feel right at home. You feel like you are in your own private Idaho but you are minutes from the Plaza.
Outdoor dining, Spa, Steam shower, 4.5 acre property where you can let go of all your stress. Amazing views of the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez Mountains.
Bob got us all set up. We hiked to petroglyphs, had a great spa day outside in the snow, out for New Year's Eve and great times shopping, Farmer's Market, in the kitchen and watching football. Bob took great care making sure we got settled in then we all enjoyed the property like it was our own. He was great. The home was great. All great. Would recommend.
There was absolutely nothing that this property didn't offer. Separate living/seating areas, so large groups could separate if they wanted, but plenty of room for all in the living room with the fireplace! Plenty of sleeping space and plenty of quiet places to relax including the hot tub. Close enough to town to go in for shopping, eating, etc. The customer service was exceptional - all questions were answered quickly and everything necessary was provided. We would definitely come back if we have a large group!
This house was fabulous for the five of us. Everyone had their own sleeping room and the house was more than spacious enough for us. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, outdoor fireplace, the pool table and breakfast at the large patio table. The drive to local restaurants was only a couple of miles away. Would recommend this house for an adult family that would enjoy the large space it offers
This was the most perfect place. Four siblings and spouses and our mother stayed here while we attended our dads funeral at the national cemetery. We could not have asked for a better place for all of us to stay. It allowed for every couple to have their own bedroom and bathroom as well as our mother. We went and hiked in tent rocks and it was so beautiful. Such a great place to celebrate our dads life. Thanks so much for allowing us to stay.
Our multi-generational family group stayed at Casa Encantado for a wedding weekend, and it was the perfect home for outdoor entertaining in the back patio area. There is a nice, small lawn area with an outdoor fireplace that makes for a great gathering place as the evening cools down. The barbecue grill worked great, and had plenty of propane. The kitchen is pretty small for a house this large, but it has everything you would need, including a completely empty, large refrigerator, which is great in a vacation rental. This home does have some big steps and stairs, as well as no "step-in" showers, so it is not recommended for elderly grandparents who may be visiting with you, as in our case. But it works well for all other ages, so I would recommend it for groups that need a large house with 4-5 bedrooms and baths. There is an attached studio apartment with a full kitchen that is a real bonus to this property, and works well for anyone who might need a quieter, more private sleeping area. It should be noted there is no air conditioning, but there are ceiling fans in most of the rooms, so that helps when it gets hot in the afternoon during the summer and fall. The property manager was very accommodating and answered my calls and questions as quickly as he could. The house is located just a few minutes by car from the plaza and the CVS and Albertsons grocery at the De Vargas Mall, but it is not within reasonable walking distance. All in all it's a great vacation rental for larger groups.
Our family of 9 people loved Casa Encantado, which is just 2 miles north of the Santa Fe Plaza. The house is filled with lovely Southwestern furniture and decor. The seating areas are great for groups and are comfortable both inside and outside. The house is big enough that everyone had "space" to get away. Big fireplaces and three Master suites were a plus. The hot tub was a perfect way to unwind at the end of the day.
Location note: Even though the house number is an odd number, the driveway is on the south side of the street.
The property was clean and nicely maintained. Lots of pots, pans, plates, cups, and bowls for our voracious family. Professional grade gas stove. We would definitely come here again.
We had a variety of ages on our trip. The 20-year-olds loved the crazy virtual world of "MeowWolf." The middle-aged folks enjoyed shopping at the Santa Fe Art Festival at the Plaza and wandering through the art galleries on Canyon St.
We had many dinosaur lovers and Georgia O'Keefe fans with us, so our trip to Ghost Ranch 1.5 hours away was exciting and memorable. We got a private tour of the Paleontology Museum with curator Alex Downs, who took us on a walking tour where we picked up small dinosaur fossils off the ground.
We went on an Astronomy Adventure at night and saw incredible stars and planets (including Saturn with its rings). Host Peter Liscombe did a great job.
We went to all of the top restaurants in town, including Tabla de los Santos at the Hotel St. Francis, and Chez Mamou (French). All were good, and the price was a little lower than what we would pay on the West Coast.
