Gorgeous view - best I've seen in the mountains

  • 4 of 5

We loved the location and for the most part the house; however, this was definitely NOT a 4 bedroom house as advertised. The "fourth" bedroom was about 8' by7' with two half sized beds - no window - no closet. Can't be classified as a 4 BR home! My grandsons could barely sleep there and in fact, usually slept on couches. Also, I bought a new frying pan and left it in the cabinet - for the next family. There was none available there to use that did not stick and ruin half the food. Would be a great idea to invest some $$$$ in different size frying pans. We also ran out of hot water constantly - would suggest another tank or a tankless heater for instant hot water. We could not use spa tub due to not having enough hot water. Other than that, it is a beautiful house with beautiful furnishings - easy access to main floor.

Beautiful views and relaxation -- just in time for Christmas!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect view of Chimney Rock and the surrounding area from the deck of this beautiful home; we drove and walked around the area and decided the view from this house was possibly the best in the area!

The house was comfortable and roomy. We enjoyed the air hockey, foosball, Star Wars DVDs (missing Episode 1 and 3, but those weren't as good as the "originals" anyway!), and fireplaces. We spent most of our time in the living room, just off the kitchen, with wonderfully comfortable seating, whole-wall view of the mountains, and impressive 60" SmartTV -- the best MarioCart experience we've had (MarioCart not included with the house).

Chimney Rock village is maybe a 5-minute drive, and Ingles (fully-stocked grocery store, pharmacy, etc.) is just under 10 minutes away. If you want some decent (but mostly viewless) hiking, there's a trail head just across the street from Ingles. If you want views, you probably ought to consider Chimney Rock trails instead -- but even just to hike, it costs money ($13 per adult with $2 off for AAA members). Families with kids can probably handle the Hickory Nut Falls trail; we did 20 years ago with an 8-year-old, a 4-year-old, and a baby in a backpack. But if you have older children, maybe challenge them (and yourself) with the Four Seasons trail.

If you want some good joe, try Fibber-MaGee's on the edge of the Chimney Rock "downtown" area. While we were here, the restaurant part of this B&B was being renovated, but the coffee shop was a "fully functional Death Star" (sorry for the Star Wars reference, but remember the Star Wars DVDs?). Very friendly service, and we got a tour of the entire B&B. Several quaint shops all through the downtown area with "gems" and other fairly typical trinkets. For dinner, try Legends on the Lake (about a 15-minute drive from the house) which had good food and plenty of sports to watch; they also have trivia night, but we opted to play Trivia Crack at our own table instead.

Overall, great experience. We would come back again -- no questions!

The first thing you notice when you enter is the thoroughly amazing view. No words to describe how great it is. Have rented many places with great views but this one has them all beat. Aside from that the house is great with everything you need. Clean and very nicely appointed with lotsa room on 3 levels for a family to spread out. Internet/cable tv worked great the whole time except when had 6 hr power outage due to storm. No negatives at all. Didn't want to leave.
