About Vacasa, WA - Columbia Gorge Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Lovely house and view BUT some maintenance and property management attention is needed

 • 3 of 5

Overall the house and view were beautiful! The beds were incredibly comfortable, the house was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. Bring extra bottled water, as the tap water is not drinkable. Small damages were found around the house that needed maintenance (doors, lights, gutters, BBQ, etc..). There was NO wifi and the property management company could not get this matter corrected. The hot tub was clean but very small - only big enough for 4 guests. Gusty winds continuously blew off the hot tub cover causing it to loose water and cool down. Again the property management company did little to assist. There was a rusty old strap they instructed us to use, but the only true solution was to place large rocks on top of the cover to prevent it from blowing off. Hopefully a new cover or strap system will help future guests.

Big house in perfect location, but maintenance issues are annoying

 • 4 of 5

Stayed here with my family the week after Christmas 2017. We loved the location, off the main road, among the tall trees, with great views of the Columbia River and the Gorge. The layout works well for a family with two bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs, a large media room with comfy chairs for watching movies and access to the game room in the garage (although the garage is not heated). The main floor has one bedroom and bathroom, a huge kitchen and nice living and dinning spaces. The back balcony is a great place to sit and enjoy the view. The upstairs is the master suite with a large bathroom. Views from up there are great as well.

Some of the pluses are the comfy furniture and beds, beautiful decor, well stocked kitchen with lots of space, thermostats on each floor for temperature control, and lots of land around the property to roam around. The music center downstairs with speakers in every room is a nice touch as well (although there's no iPod docking/connection and CD selection definitely fits a specific generation). Our favorite thing about the house is location. Right in the middle of the Columbia River Gorge this is a great place to escape the city and enjoy the outdoors.

Some negatives revolve around maintenance. There were a dozen or so light bulbs burnt out so lighting was poor both inside and outside the property. The TV set up is nice but there is no access to live channels, even the local free ones (which is a bummer because weather reports are vital in the area). The WiFi signal was weak as well. Also, there is no working fireplace, which would have been nice to have in the living room with the great view. The heated floors for the upstairs bathroom didn't work as advertised either. Finally, the hot tub. We paid an extra fee for hot tub service, yet the water was dirty and a bit smelly.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here, but for the price there are a number of small things missing. It would be a five star, #1 place to stay if those issues were addressed.

Owner's Response: We are sorry to see this guest felt maintenance was lacking. The property manager will review these items with the owner, and we will definitely the light bulbs replaced. Thanks!

Nice house in a great location, but beware of maintenance issues

 • 4 of 5

Took my family here for the week after Christmas 2017. We wanted a big house surrounded by trees and nature with a great view. This house offered all of those things so we are happy with our stay.

The good:
1) The bedrooms are spacious with comfy beds and decent closet space. Enough blankets and pillows for everyone. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked as well.
2) The kitchen is beautiful, well stocked with supplies and cooking utensils. Everything in there worked fine.
3) The downstairs is very comfy and cozy, with nice comfy chairs and surround sound for watching movies. The garage space is wide open to play table tennis.
4) Each floor has a thermostat and the heating worked great (except the heated floors in the upstairs bathroom did not work).
5) The water is treated and soft, but it stays hot pretty well. No problems with showers and baths.
6) The 6-disk CD player with speakers in each room is a great feature. We played music throughout the house and controlled which rooms could hear it. (Although the CD collection is a bit dated, and there is no iPod/iPhone docking station).
7) The exterior grounds are beautiful and maintained, with great views of the Columbia River Gorge and lots of land for kids to roam around.

The bad:
Our major complaint is the lack of upkeep/maintenance in certain things.
1) There was almost a dozen light bulbs burnt out throughout the property, which meant dime lighting inside and made getting around at night (especially outside) difficult.
2) There is no working television (just a DVD player) which for a house this big and upscale there should at least be free local channels set up through an antenna.
3) The WiFi signal was very weak as well, so we couldn't get any of our online streaming services to work.
4) The fireplace is not in working condition and sealed off for use. Again, for a house this upscale and expensive, it should be a working feature of the home.
5) The outdoor hot tub water was really dirty, which is disappointing because we paid an extra fee for hot tub service.
6) The large trash bin for pick up was stuffed full to the brim when we got there, so we couldn't really add anything and it was an eye sore to look at when coming in and out of the driveway.

Overall, this is a nice house to stay for a family/friends get away. The house should better reflect the price charged however, so I highly recommend the owners/managers of this property hire someone to walk around the property every couple of week or two, to make sure things are in property working condition. It would make a stay here one of the best a person can find on Vacasa.

Also note, that if you visit in the winter time with snow/ice on the ground, make sure you have tire traction devices or snow tires, as the road and driveway leading up to the house is steep. We had one car that couldn't get up it.

The location was beautiful, but there were some problems with the property.

 • 3 of 5

There was only one key left for the property with 8 of us staying that was a problem. A number of lights did not have functioning light bulbs. Most importantly there was no functioning light at the front door. It was difficult with the rain and steps to see were you were going when we returned to the house at night. There were no instructions for anything in the house.

Early Christmas

 • 5 of 5

We rent close to our daughter to have Christmas when our son comes to visit from London. What a blast this year. The house was perfect size. 4 adults were there and 4 others came to visit without any feelings of being crowded. With 3 levels there was always a place for things to happen (kids in the basement with ping pong, tv and able to set up r/c cars to play with), living room for more quiet times and a very large kitchen big enough for 3 cooks at a time.
There is a bathroom on each level. A very nice washer and dryer is available so you can pack a little lighter.
The home is beautiful. The hot tub is in the open, but nice to have. It was clean and nice and warm with the rain and wind that occurred during our visit.
The home is secluded, but close to a main road and only 12 miles from groceries, gas, etc.
The view is great!!! It's of the Columbia River and you can even watch the lights of the barges on the river at night.
Hands down---very worth the stay.
I highly recommend this home. It was relaxing and fun.
