Clean, spacious home that had an amazing view of the lake and mountains. Communication with the rental management was excellent. Check in and check out process was quick and easy. I would def recommend staying here.

Family at the Lake

Our stay at Over the Edge was a perfect family get together. The house is beautiful, all the amenities and the location on the lake is perfect for all week long fun. This was our first real vacation in over 30 years after military and government service and the first getaway with our grandkids. Couldn't ask for anything more!

This beautifully designed home felt warm and welcoming from the moment our big family stepped in. Extremely clean and well-maintained. The boathouse added a whole new dimension of entertainment for everyone. With stunning views of Lake Lure and an abundance in luxurious comforts throughout the home it was the perfect place for our relaxing winter getaway.

Family Reunion!

2 parents, 3 daughters, 2 sons-in-law and 1 granddaughter (aged 32). Plenty of room to do what you wanted and plenty of room to get together. Beautiful house. Exactly as the pictures looked.

Hi on Over the Edge

This vacation lake house was wonderful. Nicely finished and well equipped, with a fantastic Lake Lure view. We were a family consisting of adults and teenagers, and we all throughly enjoyed this property and the lake. Included with the main house was a boat house on the lake, stocked with 2 paddle boards and 2 kayaks. Ideal for fun days on the lake.

Hi Jeff: Thank you for the great review. Yes, because Lake Lure is a man made lake built in a steep mountain gorge, many of our driveways have a downward slope. Thank you for telling us about the sauna; we will get that looked at. Internet is not amazing anywhere in Lake Lure, but we do send each Guest multiple warnings about that at time of booking. That isn't unique to this home. Many of our rural mountain homes depend on satellite internet as much of our area is not hard wired for internet. We hope to host you again! MR. Incredible Lake House

We spent 3 nights at Over the Edge Lake House and had an incredible stay! The house was clean, spacious, and well stocked. The boat house was awesome too. We used the paddle boards and unicorn float daily. We brought our own kayaks, but there are kayaks for you to use as well. We hiked Chimney Rock, so the stairs down to the boat house were not a problem at all. The driveway is treacherous, just be prepared! Lake Lure is gorgeous! We will definitely be back!

Lake vacation

The house was beautiful and had everything you could possibly need. Two living areas, beautiful porches, large kitchen, nice bedrooms. The boat house is also very nice. The only negative part was that housekeeping was 40 minutes late getting the house cleaned. I had to wait in the driveway before I could go in. Also, the large oven door did not close tight. We managed to make it work though. Over all it is was a wonderful place to stay. I would book it again.

Beautiful view, house needs some maintenance

This is our second time at the property, 3 first 3 years ago. The house needs some TLC! The light over the stove is out, the boathouse is in desperate need of paint and new furniture, and some of the furniture on the screened porch is broken. However, the kitchen is lovely and the living spaces and clean and spacious and comfortable.

Nice home

With the exception of a few issues (broken patio furniture and planks, wine cooler not working, etc), the home is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. There are about 90 steps from the house to the boat house, so our older relatives struggled a little, but managed. The kids tried fishing but didn’t catch anything, but had fun trying. The home and boat house were stocked well, and it was a great opportunity for our full family to come together to connect. Thank you for the use of your wonderful home!

Over the Edge

No one warned us about the way too steep driveway. The place needed a handyman to fix many broken / inoperable items. We lost power and water on Sunday and again on Friday early morning for the duration of our stay. The generator was nonfunctional. The back up smoke detector batteries started beeping 9 hours after we lost power. The constant beeping drove us nuts. The lower level bathroom smelled of sewage. These are only some of the lowlights.

Hello Helianna: Yes, because Lake Lure is built in a gorge with a dam, most of our homes on the lake have fun driveways. This is extremely common here. The generator was not listed as an amenity in the listing. That is why it is not hooked up for use.

First family reunion in a few years!

Absolutely beautiful! Activities for all ages. Enjoyed the large kitchen/dining area with the view that just fed your soul! Had room for 9 to sleep on mattress but the couch worked out for the 10th. Never drove on a driveway that steep but we all made it! Hot tub was a real joy. Burning band on but had 3 outdoor gas fire pits. The 3 fireplaces inside made up for that. We also used the 2 paddle boards and 2 kayaks, fishing! I almost got my big toe caught in a deck board off the main deck enclosed. We moved the table on top of it so it would not happen again. If it got caught I am pretty sure it might of amputated it. The board is not over a brace and looks ok but bends down if you hit it just right. I had no shoes on at the time. We will always remember our great majestic vacation together!!! Thank you!

Lucky on the Lake!

We stayed for a family vacation at this house recently and overall had a great time! We had littles as young as 5 and big kids as old as 22 (along with parents) and the house worked for everyone. Yes it is 100 steps down to the lake, but the lake "house" is a space you can spend all day in since it has a kitchen and some couches. Kayaks were great for paddles, but bring your own inflateables as the ones there had a few leaks. Couple small notes: 1. The fridges in the main house are all drawer fridges so some taller items had to go in the garage fridge. WiFi was basically non-existant and at least on ATT cell was sketchy at best. 2. Driveway is an ADVENTURE but completely doable. The mirror at the top has fallen off so a little stressful turning in or out as it is on a corner, but again doable. 3. Dock furniture could use a refresh, but we spent most of the time in the water so not really an issue. if you have some lightweight folding chairs to bring a plus! Overall a great stay for all of us!

Winter stay

Property manager was very difficult to work with and not the nicest. Maintenance guy was beyond kind. A lot of issues with the house as far as maintenance goes also got locked out one night when maintenance came to do work without us there or without our knowledge. Maybe some sort of miscommunication between property manager and us as guest however didn’t think that was very acceptable. Hi Alexia: I wanted to reply to the review so that future guests are not discouraged from booking. Regarding the lowering of the lake this winter: In the description of the home, the very first paragraph in all capital letters was a disclaimer the lake would be lowered. We have many other lakefront vacation rental homes, and all of them were booked for this same holiday period. There was only one other Guest who didn't notice the disclaimer in the narrative. Unfortunately sometimes Guests look at merely photos and data about a home, but neglect to read the homes narrative. In this case, it clearly noted the lowering of the lake. Regarding the issue you had with access: You had Guests traveling with you who were not on the reservation. When they locked themselves out, we had no idea they were traveling with you. We had to send a Company Representative out to the home to get IDs and give them access in your absence. We understand this was inconvenient for them. However, you did not notify us with additional approved Guests. We do this for Guest security. Otherwise any random stranger could call and claim they were locked out. We simply cannot take a person's word for it over the telephone and risk your security. Regarding outside access: This is a $1M lakefront home with very adequate and secure deck railings. The lowering of the lake would have no bearing on your ability to enjoy the decks. All of the appliances are in good working order, and we have an in-house maintenance crew available 24/7/365 for any issues that may arise. Thank you again for the input.

Great house, great experience!! First time visiting Lake Lure and we weren’t disappointed. The house is beautiful. The kitchen is very well equipped. We all travel extensively and everyone was impressed. Great job!
