Excellent accommodation in a delightful location
A cottage for all seasons
What a great place! Warm and cosy with reliable heating and lovely log fire, which we really appreciated, because despite many bright spells the wind was biting and we had our elderly parents with us. Beautiful views of the bay and the wading birds from the master bedroom. Garden is lovely but given the temperature the resident wild bunnies were the ones making the most of it. Sarah left us cake, coffee, wine and flowers and rang promptly to check everything ok and whether we had questions. Such a comfortable place in a beautiful area. Can’t wait to go back and cook more of the local seafood and walk on the beaches again.
It was lovely to meet you. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay, despite the unseasonably chilly weather!
We had a wonderful stay at Mill House Cottage. The property is very well appointed, has lots of character and a fantastic view of Budle Bay. We would certainly recommend staying here.
Comfortable and cozy cottage situated on a beautiful coastline.
Millhouse Cottage is comfortable and cozy exactly what you want a traditional coastal cottage to be. It is decorated and furnished to a high standard and all the equipment supplied is of excellent quality. Whatever your hobby, birdwatching, walking, golfing sightseeing or simply relaxing this cottage is ideally located on an outstandingly beautiful coastline within easy reach of stunning sandy beaches and historic castles. Our host was extremely helpful and friendly and the house boasted vases of fresh flowers and home baked cake upon our arrival. I would certainly return to Millhouse Cottage again and would highly recommend it to others.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. I am so pleased you enjoyed your anniversary break at Millhouse Cottage.
Everything you could want and more
The photos herein don’t do Millhouse Cottage justice. It’s simply a wonderful place to be on every level. The views across the bay immediately remind you why you chose to holiday in Northumberland; the dark skies, the rolling hills, the beaches and the castles, it’s all on your doorstep here.
The cottage itself is comfortably and comprehensively furnished, nothing you can sensibly think of is missing. The decor is clean, fresh and in keeping with the charm you immediately feel when you arrive and open the door. The beds are generous and comfortable, the rooms are sensibly laid out for social holiday living and the private enclosed garden is a gem.
We were welcomed with a gift of wine and freshly baked cake, greatly appreciated after our journey and our host took the time called us to welcome us and check we had arrived safely and all was well.
I’d strongly recommend Millhouse Cottage as a holiday home. We were a party of 4 adults and three young children and at no point did we feel crowded or claustrophobic during our stay.
Take note it’s quiet, perhaps not one for the party animal but if you want to experience Northumbrian living and Northumbrian Hopsitality in a cosy space to step out of the rat race then this is the place for you.
Thank you so much for your fabulous review Stephen. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay!
Lovely house, great location. It was cold when we were there but the open fires kept the house warm. Bring a bird book as the bay is within sight :-)
Thank you for your great review Hannah, it was really kind of you to take the time. We will make sure there is a bird book ready for our next guests to use.

The coastal castles are all fabulous to experience - Warkworth, Alnwick, Dunstunburgh, Bamburgh and Lindisfarne (on Holy Island). See the puffins on the Farne Islands in May and June. See where they make kippers at Craster. The Cheviot hills are a 40 minute drive from Waren Mill where there are many beautiful walks up the Langleeford and Breamish valleys from Wooler and Ingram. So much to do in Northumberland and Millhouse Cottage is perfectly situated to see them all!
