Enchanted Home in the Land of Enchantment

  • 5 of 5

We've been renting homes in Taos yearly for over 20 years. We've had the pleasure of staying at many nice ones but none as delightful as this home. The view is a magnificent one of pastures and soaring mountains and the diversity and beauty of the changing weather is just incredible. The house is at the end of the road and is very private. You can lounge on the expansive patios and toast the sunset or host a delicious dinner around the outdoor grill. Later, climb the spiral stairs and play a few games of pool with the new sound system providing your personal sound track. This is a house designed to create comfort.

Located between Ski Valley and Taos you're minutes from everything including many excellent restaurants, galleries and more dramatic hiking trails than you'll probably have time to explore.

Ron, the owner is a great guy who is very caring about your needs.

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We ended up booking this house 1 week before our trip. We typically always go to Ruidoso to ski and unfortunately they had to close their mountain early and last minute this year. Now that we have found Taos we will always go here! We also would love to always stay at Ron's place!

We had 8 guests and had plenty of room. Everyone we were with kept joking about how this place really seemed like "our house". Everything was easy to find/accessible and overall it just felt comfortable. All of the beds were very good quality beds, everything was clean and nice and Ron was always a phone call away. My favorite part about the house was that we were at the end of the development and we had an amazing view. You did not feel your neighbors around you and you truly felt like you were out in an open field.

This house was in the perfect location. Close to town and close to Ski Valley. Ron gave us recommendations for dinner and we loved the places we went.

We would LOVE to come back!

Great experience! We will definitely rent this house again next time we are in Taos!

  • 5 of 5

We had a large group and due to the layout and size of the house, we were all able to enjoy some privacy and still come together as a group for meals, etc, and not feel cramped. The kitchen is well stocked, TVs in every room, great views from all directions (since the house sets at the end of the cul de sac, we were not looking into any other homes), and the location was perfect for satisfying all interests (skiing, shopping, gallery viewing, spa experiences, etc.). Again, we loved the rental and will look to stay here again next time we are in Taos!

Thank you Ron for all of your availability and assistance!

Enjoyed this place - again!!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay at this house. We stayed 8 years ago when our kids were much smaller. We loved it BOTH times. The location is wonderful. Close enough to town to drive in when we needed to but away from it all enough to feel like it was a truly relaxing and peaceful vacation. Interests vary greatly in our family. Because of the location, I could easily drop skiers off in the morning, go into town for shopping or gallery hopping, and return for skiers in the afternoon. We also just spent a lot of time at the house. (Unfortunately, we had sick kids, all at different times). The house is so relaxing we spent lots of time reading, playing board games and soaking in the tub. With a variety of places to relax it was easy to "get away" even when we were all there together. The first time we stayed there was a lot of snow at the house, which was awesome. The way the house is situated at the end of the road we were able to step right outside and sled down the driveway! Plenty of room around the house for epic snowball fights and snow fort making. This time we had only had a couple of days of snow but with sick kids it was nice that we didn't have to go anywhere to still enjoy it. The house is well equipped and the beds are really comfortable. Ron was super responsive and so helpful. He helped us over the phone on the way in with directions before we even arrived. Can't say enough about this property. It's definitely a favorite for our family!

Super nice house with room for everyone

  • 4 of 5

I have mostly all good things to say about this house, with only a handful of Small issues that are in no way deal breakers, but things that i believe can be easily fixed.

Let me get the little things out of the way first:

1. There is a spiral staircase that leads up to the second floor bonus room. this staircase is very narrow and a bit scary. the frame is metal and it wobbles a bit, is coming apart at one or two seams, has areas that are rotted away and have been "patched" with bars. the stairs themselves feel very unstable. if you are not very balanced on your feet i would suggest just not going upstairs if you can help it.

2. In that upstairs bonus room it was very hot, and actually too warm in the bedrooms too. You'll find that the thermostats all over the house have labels asking you to not touch them. It's understandable the owner wouldn't want people messing with them, however they should have all been set much cooler since it was a warm week.

3. When we arrived, the bonus room upstairs had dead flies all over the carpet everywhere (and a few other little bugs), especially along the edges of the floor. as we knew kids would be up there, probably in bare feet, my husband went in search of a vacuum to get rid of them before anyone else arrived.

4. I'm not sure the cleaning crew cleaned the showers/tubs before we arrived as we found hair in a couple of them.

Aside from those things i will say, this house is beautiful. it's so very southwest which is what we wanted. there was bed space for everyone (11 of us) and the beds were comfy. we Loved having the pool table, and were able to watch all our shows on netflix movies and the World Series with no problem. All the bedrooms have tv's which was nice. We had no trouble using the keypad/codes to get in. There is a community indoor pool on the street and the kids loved that. the bathrooms are spacious. all the essentials in the kitchen so we could cook. the owner was prompt and friendly with answering all my messages. the home is out of the way from town, on the way to the Taos Ski Valley. the drive into Taos was MAYBE 20 minutes if that, and didn't ever feel like a long drive. It was a great location. There were also 3 gorgeous horses from the property next door who would come by in the mornings to say hello and pose for pictures. I would definitely recommend this place for a family/group and hope to stay again myself sometime!

Owner's Response: I want to clarify a couple completely false statements . The stairs leading to the apartment are all metal . Nothing wobbles is rotted or coming apart . The metal frame may " flex " which is normal for something made of metal . Extra supports have been added to make the steps even more stable , not because they are rotted. People of all ages have used the steps for 11 years without a problem ( including my 75 year old mother ) I am a large man ( 250 lbs ) and use the steps several times a day . The previous owners of the home were in their 70's and used the apartment for their art studio . The lower lever of the home is 3000 sq ft , and has 4 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms so no one that has difficulty with steps needs to go upstairs . I'm not sure why the home would be hot , Day time temps are in the 60' and night time temps in Early November are in the 30's. I was never contacted by the guest regarding the home being warm . I can't help if I was never asked for help . I arrived at the home after their stay and the heat was turned off , We stand by our cleaning and would have returned to vacuum the flies , The house was cleaned 2 days before the guest arrived and it is possible flies were attracted to the warm windows and then died , I wasn't notified about the issue until the end of their stay . I have to wonder why guests do not request our help during their stay , Maybe its an unauthorized pet , too many people in the home , or some other reason they don't want us there . We are dedicated to our guest's satisfaction and encourage our guests to ask us for help when there is an issue . ( big or small ) Our job is to help !

This is a lovely property. The views are incredible...absolutely can't be beat. It's a very quiet location. Peaceful, quiet, relaxing...just what we were looking for. We have stayed in this home several times and hope to stay again.
