Rod Fortner purchased this house in 2016

Why Rod Fortner chose Hickory Bend

Decided to purchase this lodge for vacation rental because it's close to everything our guest will need on their stay. Also the lodge is charming and has a great big privately fenced back yard for fun activities.

What makes this house unique

The Percy Priest Lodge offers everything you will need to have an enjoyable stay in Nashville. Don't worry about a thing, we have thought of everything! It is close to anything you need or want to do. Located on a quite dead-end street. Offers an amazing outdoor space. Lots of beautifully decorated inside space and very comfortable!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We cannot say enough about this beautiful home. Staying here if you have a group/family is a no-brainer. You have the high quality furniture/beds/linens of a highly rated hotel, better security as you would in a hotel (no employee-theft potential), a full kitchen and space to host meals, pets allowed with a fenced in yard, private and comfortable outdoor space with grill, basketball court (how wonderful!), a garage for your car (!!), laundry facility (yea!)....we cannot say enough. The owners of this incredible blessing "Home Away from Home" might just get an offer to purchase it! It's wonderful and it's central to every area of Nashville you'd want to visit while you are staying here. Great location and great team (responded right away when/if we had questions). We pray it'll be available the next time we need to visit Nashville with our family and pets.

Beautiful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The neighborhood was decently quiet and I felt safe. The house was beautiful and decorated so cute. We had everything we needed for an easy vacation. And the back yard was absolutely gorgeous and perfect for our family get-together. I hope to be able to return to this location in the future!

Little Piece of Everything

  • 5 of 5

So, I booked the house for my girls weekend/Bachelorette Party for myself and six friends. I originally booked through air bnb but I got a message two months before my trip from the owner telling me I had to cancel due to their permit. I was devastated to the point where I almost cancelled my whole trip. However, I went looking on HomeAway and found the Percy Priest Lodge. It's pricey as I am sure most of you are looking at prices but it's worth it. Specially if traveling in a group. Hotels in Nashville aren't ideal for large groups that want to stay together with a house there are no worries and of course decreases the likeliness of a noise complaint. However, you may still be debating let me tell you how are stay went.

We were all able to be under the same roof. And boy is it a beautiful one the pictures almost don't do it justice. Rod and his partner have done wonderful decorating and you can see their experience with hotels shine through down to the towels being folded in a fan, the toilet paper being folded, and the large assortment of linen. These are things that are small but make perfect sense and add a home feel to the lodge. Outside of course of having the entire home to yourself you are in a good neighborhood, beautiful house, and have a state of the art alarm. I stayed in the King Room and the bed was amazing. To the point that I took a picture of the brand for the future.

I know this is a long review and if you have made it to this part I hope I have helped you make a decision. You can't beat this house it even has a grill. But, seriously it is worth the price specially for a large group. They've done amazing with decorating and everything was so comfortable and welcoming.

The property is older but well designed and nicely decorated.Wish there would have been no spiders.

  • 3 of 5

Pros: Property looks like the pictures, which is nice. Easy to access through the door keypad and there is an alarm for added security. It is located in an older neighborhood with quick access to the freeway to get everywhere you want to go. They have family games and all you will need to feel right at home. Overall we had a great time staying there.

Cons: Two major things that would have made it perfect are an en suite and no spiders. We had to kill at least 4 big nasty spiders. The thought of spiders kept me awake the first night and kept me on guard the whole time we were there. And there is only one bathroom with a shower that we all had to share. Not ideal with four girls. Guess I should have paid closer attention to that when I booked. Other that that, we had a great time.

Owner's Response: Hello Venetia, I am so sorry to hear that you had to deal with ANY spiders. I too am a little afraid of spiders and completly understand that this would have made you uncomfortable. Thank you for making us aware, I can assure you that we have had it treated and confirmed that there are no more pest. I am sorry that you didn't inform us of this during your visit. It is important to us that all of our guest enjoy their stay and we would have acted promptly to get this resolved so that you and your guests were more comfortable. We are now treating more regularly to assure that this does not happen to future guests. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and for staying with us!
